A Statement for/about Enro (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone, Oz here. This is a post I hoped I’d never have to make, but here we are.
As some of you may have already seen, I was removed from the discord tonight. Enro and I were in the process of talking through what next steps to take with the server, and during our discussion she made the unilateral decision to kick me from it.
I am now in a situation where I have no access to the server to see what is being said, but based on her messages it seems she has intent to besmirch my reputation. I still truly have no desire to air dirty laundry, but at this point my hands are tied and I’m forced to make this statement.
Over the holidays Enro had a prolonged severe case of mental illness which involved her being admitted to a psych ward for several days. Over the course of the next few months she was able to return home where I cared for her. The plan as I understood it was to transition our relationship to a domestic partnership. However there was a day without warning where she told me she was leaving, moving back to her parent’s house, and disavowing both the business and the fandom as a whole. She told me that the expectations of being a creator were an extreme point of stress and partly attributed them to her poor mental state.
With the sudden life change dropped on me, I scrambled to figure out what would happen to the business. It was and is my primary source of income, and this sudden life change meant my financial stability was in peril. I drafted up a loose document about how we could divide the various properties and accounts, but there was no request for commitment or signatures. Over the course of the next month we went back and forth figuring out how everything would be done. During this time I repeatedly asked for consent, offered modifications, and encouraged her to discuss it with her family. If Enro tries to call this fact into question, I am happy to provide receipts.
A month later, a formal contract was drafted. Enro had multiple opportunities to adjust this contract, and there were some changes made per her requests. At this point I was being given almost zero information on Enro’s mental state, but through our limited conversations she seemed cogent and on the steady path to recovery. We each signed the contract and got it notarized, cementing the agreements we came to.
It has been my intent to keep everything civil and fair, and I think I’ve done that to the best of my ability. If Enro would like to do the same, I invite her to add me back into the discord where we can have a proper conversation, rather than engineering a situation where my reputation can be dismantled without even a chance for me to defend myself.
