Windows Defender Quarantine (Patreon)
Content
I just got reports of Windows Defender quarantining vamX.1.28.var. Virus protection programs often misidentify software as containing trojans. The file is then reported to the company as a false positive, and over time, they fix the issue.
We've scanned vamX.1.28.var with Avast, and it scans clean (and also nothing interesting has changed compared with previous version of vamX).
We've scanned vamX.1.28.var with VirusTotal, and it scans clean (see attached image or go to https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/d86343a4c05626dbcc59a8e9cc7d0314bfd310c53d3298452e7670c02c19f90e or try it yourself on virustotal.com)
I think it would help if other users scanned vamX.1.28 with their virus protection programs and posted the results here.
If you use Windows Defender, and get vamX flagged, please submit it to Microsoft for further analysis, or submit it as a false positive. This will help other users.
To restore vamX from quarantine, try: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/restore-quarantined-files-microsoft-defender-antivirus?view=o365-worldwide
Based on my prior experience with this with other software, this issue should resolve itself within a few days.
Also, maybe it's time to switch to a better free antivirus. As long as you are willing to ignore Avast or others attempts to get you to upgrade to paid, they are better options.
