Happy Holidays everyone! Excuse my silence this December, we are just wrapping up a few pics and will have updates very soon.

Next week we will have version 0.19.0 released which will have the final main story quest complete.

On release day, January 5th, we will have version 1.0.0 released which will have one new side quest. From there, we can start pumping out more side quests.

Please enjoy the history of Queen's Brothel below.

---

Queen's Brothel was first launched on January 8th, 2018. I was ambitious. I had just spent an entire summer learning how to code, learning how to draw, and was just about to graduate from college. Freedom.

I used to fall asleep to problems and wake up with answers. Nothing to disturb me and my creativity. The idea of Queen's Brothel was formed in 2018. The stories you read today are small variations of what I had created in 2018. After the first year of my creative process, we had bigger problems to solve.

Art. It wasn't until December 5th, 2018 where I started to message a million artists for help and ran into LNSC who created most of the characters you see today.

I had created a world full of blank images. Characters without pictures. Queen's Brothel was a text game. With new black and white sketches, the world was starting to form. I would write stories about Queen, start working on side quests for Suki. Change Scarlett's main story quest so that she is a princess!

Unfortunately, the real world kicked in. I had to stop my creative process and find a day job. It is too difficult to work 8 hours a day and then try to be creative. My schedule now consisted of spending 5 days a week at my day job and then weekends to try to come up with new ideas for Queen's Brothel. Hectic.

I did this, for a long time. Waiting for the weekend so I could finally work on Queen's Brothel. Waiting, waiting, hating that I have to go to work on the weekdays.

A glimmer of hope, I ran into Semyon in October of 2019 when I needed help creating backgrounds. He was the first person to finally add color to Queen's Brothel. I thought, maybe it will be my mission to gather enough money to get more help with the game.

I had my biggest career change happen in December of 2019. My first big boy Computer Science job. I immediately started looking for new artists. I started my new job on January 6th, 2020. I met Zen on January 8th, 2020.

You can attribute Zen to almost every single outfit in the game, and all of the NPCs which were not colored until Zen did it. Today, Zen helps with almost everything about the game and is an amazing person to chat about ideas with.

I met HydraBomb on March 13th, 2020. Hydra carried Queen's Brothel with amazing looking sex scenes, something Queen's Brothel did not have.

In 2020, we went from 100 patrons to 1,200. Queen's Brothel was growing at a tremendous rate. I had created a story that people enjoyed and now we had pictures for people to look at. To keep going, I need to be home working. I need silence to write. I need a clear mind.

My days are filled with work issues. Code that has weekly deadlines. Colleagues I need to write documentation for. Presentations for managers. With only weekends to work on Queen's Brothel, I could only think of my day job's problems. Things I was not looking forward to.

On November 24th, 2021, I decided to quit my day job. But I wasn't free yet.

Most of you have been around since the start of 2022. I've spent the majority of this year going from the Phaser engine to the Godot engine. Writing new stories, fixing older stories. Creating the final iteration of the battle mechanics. This was the sum of 2019-2021. Things I wish I had time for, but could not execute because it was too time consuming.

Peace

I have always felt like Queen's Brothel was an idea that was created in 2018 and I have been desperately trying to catch up to its potential.

Queen's Brothel will be releasing in January of 2023, mimicking the first ever release in January of 2018. I am now caught up with what had to be done in the past 3 years.

I finally feel at home. Peace, freedom, creativity. It feels like 2018 again.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Happy Holidays.
