Hey guys,

so some time ago someone from hentaivr.com contacted me about rendering Diner for Three in VR. I was originally against it cause I've foreseen many issues, but eventually decided to send them first scene and see how it goes.

So here it is. Yeah it has some issues but I think there is some potential to it. Let me know what you guys think.

Well, i'll have a look Friday and give my thoughts, if my GPU doesn't die again.

took a look at it today. i really love it when creators make stuff for vr. just a heads up though, you should try to avoid moving the camera smoothly because it makes some people sick (myself included). jump cuts / teleportation are the best, and really really slow pan is fine as well. i had to stop watching after about 20 seconds because of the panning speed.

I agree with Xicor its great and I would love more VR. If you plan on moving the camera you will have to make sure both cameras have the same point of interest to create less crossing. Cuts for fades might be best, but besides that I cant wait for more.

Was amazing on the Index, the pan was a bit jarring, but overall amazing. I hope you port the other parts.

As I mentioned, I didn't actually make this, I just provided someone else with the source files. Cameras were one of my concerns coming into this, problem is that the movie is made with these cameras in mind - basically what's not in shot is usually lacking details in animation. However I agree that instead of panning the cameras should be stationary.

Yeah I had similar feedback to the maker, we'll see if we do more.

Thanks, we'll see how it goes. Unfortunately some of the scenes were made in a pretty old version of blender and it has couple of issues when opened in current one, I don't know how much time I want to spend debugging this.

Also on the close up shots you(like under the characters) you might want to put the cameras a bit closer since it’s supposed to be like our eyes are almost crossing and not in the middle. That will help with the images not lining up and help with not making people re adjust their eyes.

We need more of this!!!! I think this would be fantastic!!!

Yeah, I deleted my copy of the video. I just know if I watch it in my VR goggles, then motion of the camera is going to be nauseating. VR is new, so the rules of VR film making are not well know yet, but I do know a few things. Moving the POV around makes the audience sick. You have to lock down the camera and do not make any pans, zooms, or tracking shots or you risk making people motion sick. However, on the flip side the close up shot works well in VR. close ups accentuate being in VR. Even extreme close ups work. Just food for thought.

a couple of the cuts that were in there were close ups and they looked fantastic. that is until the camera moved again and you started feeling sick

Well, video looks great, maybe sticking to one angle a bit longer would be good? And turns out somehow the dang PCIe power wire had somehow wiggled itself out from my GPU :D

Bit late on this as I just joined your Patreon today, but I thought this was absolutely fantastic, and a full video without the pans would be legendary. Even with the pans I still enjoyed it more than any other VR stuff I've seen.
