Above we see the reknown breeder and  geneticist , Gladstone. Unlike many of the people you will encounter, Gladstone is from the central islands of the kingdom, and comes out to the sticks to show off his prize retaine, mostly out of boredom, but also out of the fact that the royal breeding organization that funds him wants to see how well his work fares against that of common people. He records information on monsters he meets in his booklet, and defeating him will give you more monster lore codecies.

His Sheep, Ciara and Ban are the products of several generations of breeding, though of course, not with Gladstone, the rural practice of beastiality has never been one practiced, in any public manner, by the nobility. Instead they use expensive magics and farming products to boost domesticity.

In an ideal world, what you guys see here would be the "Maxed Domesticity" Sheep. Since we don't have the budget nor time to make 4 or 5 different stages of every single damn monster based on domesticity or variants or whathaveyou, we're instead going to be showing off a lot of variants either as monsters in the wilderness (Heavies, like the Denmother, are an example of the lowest level of domesticity before you go into outright magical corruption), or through NPCs. Your own farm sheep will be using a far less 'domestic' form than these ones do.

For those a bit confused about how this works, you should look up how Khajit Biology works in the Elder Scrolls setting. The cat people can range from 'humans with cat ears and a tail' to 'actual house cats' and everything in between those two stages. We don't quite go to full feral in our setting for our monsters (IE: no human resemblence whatsoever), but the principle is the same.

As always, loving the design :) I know it's Spurp's preference, but it surely would be nice to see a bit more males in the game as well (fingers crossed for genderbend :D ) If sheep ever gets chosen as a monster, it would be cool if you guys could add to the lore that once Gladstone gets defeated, he gives our character one of his normal sheep, and that's how we obtain the monster :D Also, it's understandable that you guys don't have the budget to create 4-5 different stages of domesticity, but perhaps in the far future it would be possible to at least create a monster stage for the "maxed domesticity"? :) Just throwing ideas here :P

I really want sheep to win the next female monster vote, especially if the designs for the farm sheep will be close to these. It's a shame they're so low in the polls.

Gystes

For my understanding, they're suppose to be much more sheep-like. So they won't be that close.

Gystes

About half the cast is suppose to be male. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) I think we're fine in that regard. While I would be interested to see different variants, I'm pretty sure they'd need to make at least half of what breeding season was making before that even becomes a remote possibility.

CloudMeadow

More than that. By far. The issue is that each 'variant' would require >New animated Sprites >New sex scenes >New gender swaps and so on and so forth. It's a lot of work to add variants. If we ever do add it, it'll be some kind of expansion or free update or something.

Gystes

Oh wait, BS made 42K. Why did I think it made alot more than that?

...wait how sentient are those sheep girls because if they're near human intelligence, yet get treated as prizes to be bought and bred then holy hell that's a terrifying display of fantasy racism

CloudMeadow

We actually explained this in another post, but I can break it down that yes, they have human level intellect, only the most wild of monsters do not due to magic contamination. Monsters work with humans a lot, and while, yes, there is a staggering degree of racism depending on where you are, Monster tribes require human blood lines or at least assistance integrating with other tribes to keep their own population's 'domesticity' down and thus avoid the birth of children who are so contaminated by magic that they go insane and wreck havoc. You can actually have this happen on your farm by breeding monsters of the same type together too much (when we hit gender swaps anyway), and it'll result in miniboss fights. Basically, the Guild helps bring new blood to 'civilized' and 'free' monster tribes who have their own islands within the human kingdom, but the expenses of doing so are pretty high, so monsters work it off indentured servant style, but have multiple ways of doing so. We focus on the ones who help farm and produce new monsters as well as essence, but there's other jobs. It's also a case that the setting is far more casual about sex than has otherwise been displayed (npcxnpc sprite sex scenes that scatter around the background are planned when and if we can get the breathing room to make them). As always though, one of the rules we got here is that "If fridge logic would necessarily result in horrible implications, magic in the setting provides an unspecified manner in which unstated, fridge horror does not apply" Think of "Breeding Contests" as "Beauty Pagents" (cause that's almost literally what they are).

I hope you guys will eventually be able to produce visible domestication for the breeding gameplay, since that's a fascinating idea. Having a functional game comes first of course.

With breeding anything there's bound to be some controversy over how things should be done... like not mating with your animals.. hmm. Great progress
