SET TOUR BONUS VIDEO + January Update (Patreon)
Content
Hey folks!
As I mentioned, because my family has moved out of the house my set was built in, the set is being 'retired' in the vaccines video. So while I still had it, we shot a little tour of the place just for posterity's sake. Check it out if you want to see what the back of the set looks like and hear random stories and get unasked-for advice about how to make youtube videos.
As for the Vaccines video itself, we were really aiming for January. However, we've accidentally fallen from 'make a video' territory into a strange new zone, named 'help find and preserve an important piece of history'. A huge part of the contemporary anti-vaccine movement can be traced back to a news media release that was sent to various journalists in 1998, whose footage got reused all over the place. The material essentially showed journalists of the era 'here's how to report on the vaccine scare' - in other words, to perpetuate it. However, as of now, no complete copies of the tape seem to exist in any easily-accessible form, and the only copies that exist at all would have to exist in the archives of UK news outlets that were sent one over twenty years ago.
So while the video is progressing super well, we've been delayed by trying to track down and help archive the footage that helped start the anti-vax movement in the first place before it totally disappears. So far it mostly only exists as very short clips that ended up reused in other news broadcasts. If you happen to have access to the archives of ITN or the BBC or the like, feel free to drop us an email at contact@hbomb.zone - If we don't manage to find a complete copy, We'll put a call to action to help find it in the video and see if that helps.
We're really looking forward to what we have to show, though - we're getting real public health experts, immunologists, and lawyers to review the video to make sure we communicate the science responsibly (and don't get sued by the people we cover), and working with several animators to explain the science as clearly and interestingly as possible. Someone whose name is in the credits of every episode of Steven Universe is helping with this videos' visuals, which is an absurdly cool thing to be able to say. What is this life? How did this happen? Well, all I can say is, it mostly happened because of your amazing support. THANK YOU so much, and I'll update you as soon as I can!
