Hey folks!

A day or so ago the first poll for $10 patrons finished, so the next video is going to be about why RWBY is garbage. I'm looking for that to come out in Mid-January. I'm gonna try to get some other small things out  before then though, like stuff from the Pathologic video, I'm away from my main PC right now though.

Oh, and, I'm in touch with one of the lawyers in the sandy hook parent's case against Alex Jones. If anything comes of that I'll keep you posted, I'd love to make a video about the collapse of InfoWars once I know more specifics and feel like I have something to show.

Thanks a whole bunch for all your notes, suggestions, and ideas. It's really cool getting that information, it gives me much more of a sense of direction than when I was trying to decide what to do all by myself lol

take care,

Harry

Oh wow, I hope you are able to get some good stuff on the collapse of InfoWars. How did you manage to snag that contact? I think I like this process better wrt how video subjects are chosen.

I have never seen and know nothing about RWBY, should I watch any of it before the video comes out? Or would I need a Rooster Teeth premium subscription (or whatever it is) first so don't even bother?

Hey, any video you’re super passionate about is always one you should do. I love getting to give input, but please don’t live and die by the poll results if you’re really feeling inspired! I’m so glad RWBY won this time, even though I know dick-all about it.

Oh my god you utter mad lad (I have never seen RWBY but am immensely looking forward to it!)

You could try to contact the fellows from the Knowledge Fight podcast in regards to the InfoWars episode. They are a definite fount of information when it comes to ol' AJ.

On the InfoWars collapse, I recommend reaching out to the guys from the Knowledge Fight Podcast. Dan is very locked into the InfoWars show itself and would be a great source of info on InfoWars and Alex Jones. They debunk a lot of the BS coming from Alex Jones and have covered the Sandy Hook lawsuit and looking back at the episodes from when the shooting happened and the aftermath.

Anonymous

Seconded, Dan basically has a PhD in Infowarology at this point.

I came here to say this. The guys from Knowledge fight are basically Alex Jones experts at this point and would be a great source on a collapse of InfoWafs video.

Okay, own up, who else just spent five minutes trying to figure out what RWBY stood for before giving up and googling it?

The first 5 seasons are on YouTube on the main RT channel, and season 6 is on the RT Animation channel.

I guess I better watch RWBY before this video comes out. It's always piqued my interest but I feel like it would be more enjoyable to go into your upcoming essay with my own opinion formed on the show.

I have not seen RWBY and now I wonder if I should before the video comes out?

Anonymous

Not sure how I feel about a RWBY episode. I liked the latter half of the released seasons, but was a little lukewarm on the first few seasons. Always up for hearing you out though, HBomb!

Liam Skoda

Leave RWBY alone! :P

I’m a big RWBY fan so this makes me nervous, but I’m excited to see what you have to say, since I think most of the RWBY critiques I’ve seen are not very good. Definitely interested in hearing bad stuff about RT.

So I wrote a comment on this awhile ago, but I have no idea if it was actually seen, possibly due to the settings I used when posting it so I figured I'd just do it again, apologies if you have already read it: "So I saw that you're planning to do a "RWBY is garbage" video and... I get that it was voted for, but as a fan of both RWBY and yours I confess some concerns. Despite having grown beyond being a small indie web company and series, it really isn't on par to the monstrously budgeted Sherlock, nor as well known. Plus its creators are largely self made and fairly nice and progressive compared to studio back door having, Brexit fans defender Moffat. What's more the series has not even finished yet and despite many mistakes, hurdles and issues, I do feel that almost every season the writers do improve, do take critique and do grow. Which is in stark contrast to a lot of other creators and they're one of the few companies actually trying to address and do so effectively, crunch. What's more, the series is not even finished yet, unlike Sherlock it isn't even halfway done and and isn't comparatively well known to something like Sherlock or Doctor Who which were blasted all across mainstream media. This means a lot of people are going to be getting their opinion on a series they likely haven't watched or quit watching awhile ago (For good "Issues with problematic writing" or ill "The writers killed an abuser & treated him as the bad guy." reasons. ) from you. And... I don't know... Like I said, I love the show, despite having written some essays on my issues with certain arcs, I do think it is overall a good series and a worthwhile company and group of people behind it who have some fairly strong personal reasons to be invested in it beyond it just being 'a show' or 'their job'. So I guess I'm just kind of sad and maybe confused at the prospect of seeing it ripped down. Especially given the Jello "So this is basically" video already gave homophobes and abuse apologists a loving tender kiss while also being generally ignorant and mean spirited. Your work is actually well researched of course, but it just feels like another log on a fire mostly (Barring you and a few others) being built by people acting in bad faith on a series and company that aren't bad or big enough to really warrant it. Sorry just had to get that off my chest."

This is, to some extent, also my worry. I'm all for criticizing a big fish in a small pond (which I would see adequately defines RoosterTeeth), but I do think this is a bit of an odd choice. I trust Hbomb more than most creators, so I am optimistic about this video, but I hope that some of the (relatively) good things about the series make it through. SPOILERS AHEAD: Beyond the quality of the story, which I suspect folks disagree on, the show has dealt with some material that I think leftists (alternatively, compassion and progressive people) should find laudable. Most notably, one of the main characters had an arc about overcoming her abuser, culminating in her being able to deal with her abuse in an admittedly on the nose way with her "friend." Likewise, her "friend" has an arc about dealing with disability that, while I suspect is far from perfect, is one that I've seen some disabled folks speak very positively about. Beyond that, while RWBY is behind the its fanbase when it comes to LGBTQIA+ representation, it's well ahead of comparable shows, with canon wives in the previous season and what looks to be at least one canon queer couple this season (which you will probably be able to assess before your video comes out). And while not related to RWBY, Gen:lock, another series made by RoosterTeeth, indicates a progressive trend for the company and their shows. I recognize that this show isn't for everyone, and am well aware that there are plenty of valid reasons for folks to not like it, and cannot understate how willing I am to learn more about the internal workings of RoosterTeeth. I just also hope whatever this video becomes does not ignore some of the good things that have come of this show.

so I've never played/watched RWBY and my friend named her dog RWBY, and i was like "wtf is your problem hbomb, why do you think her dog is garbage 😭😭😭😭"

surasshu

i mostly hope to learn how to pronounce "rwby"

Anonymous

I voted against RWBY, mostly because I thought it was obvious that it was bad.

Anonymous

I like RWBY, but I'm also glad somebody with your level of insight is putting it under the microscope, since the analysis section of the community is a joke.

Anonymous

Question: will there be Volume 7 spoilers? Because I'm waiting until the last episode drops at the end of January so I can watch the whole thing in one go.

The Doom Merchant

My only take on this, as someone who's never bothered with RWBY and probably never will, is that I hope Hbomb, like myself, insists on pronouncing it Ruh-woo-bee the entire time

Idk what you're choosing to look at outside the show, but I recommend the podcast Anine Slushie for some good critiques of the most recent seasons. Just wanted to throw that out as another couple of people who have been covering some of this ground recently. (The hosts are CubeWatermelon who does the webcomics Sleepless Domain and KiwiBlitz and Pheonix who idk what he does outside the podcast)

dysgregulated

I grew up in CT and my niece attended Sandy Hook, she was in school that day and some of her classmates didn't make it. Alex Jones can fuck right off.

I've watched all of RWBY for this video. i'm so here for finding out if racism is bad or not, i've been left very confused by this show

Anonymous

Oh snap, an InfoWars video? If you don't know Knowledge Fight, they're an amazing pod tracking just that! A KF/Hbomb collab would be dope.

Anonymous

I'm watching the first chapter just after reading this, aside from the monuments amounts of cringe I don't see much wrong so far. But I would love to watch a video about it.
