The video is scheduled to Premiere at 11 PM GMT tonight! I know you Patrons have technically already seen it but feel free to come hang out and watch people see it for the first time.

I've tried to re-record all the names I was given corrections for, I'm really sorry if I've missed any, let me know and I'll make it up to you somehow in the next video :)

I'm getting on a plane tomorrow and I'll be in the states for a while, but I have a ton of things that went into this vid to show off when I get back. In the next little bit I'll put up the first poll for $10 backers to decide the next video! Let me know in the comments here if there's anything in particular you really want.

Come to think of it, I should probably get a google doc going listing my prospective / in-progress projects and how far through they are. More on that soon!

Pathologic is Genius, And Here's Why

Two hours? That sounds like a nightmare. Luckily, so is the game. And what an amazing nightmare it is. SulMatul's amazing Pathologic analysis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stH9JSnGH9Q Mandalore's (great and much more concise) Review of Classic HD: https://youtu.be/HeK36g92zjo https://www.patreon.com/Hbomb https://twitter.com/hbomberguy https://www.twitch.tv/hbomberguy/ http://hbomberguy.tumblr.com #Pathologic #PathologicReview

Shit! I played this game back in the day before the HD release, and couldn't understand a thing because of the poor translation. Thanks H Berb!

Can't tell which is better, this game or the video about it

Really looking forward to showing my friends this video, especially the ones who are game devs. I love videos like this where I sort of get sucked into a piece of media I would never have discovered naturally. Like, I mostly just play rhythm games and jrpgs (and there, mostly FF tbh) but videos like this one and Lisa: The Analysis gets me really hooked on these worlds that seem to go against what I thought I knew about my own taste in media. Sorry, a rambly way of saying: Great vid! Also, my vote on the next one would be Death Note!!

Anonymous

Looking forward to giving it a rewatch!

Oh ace a premiere! Feels like popcorn night :p That's a pretty cool way of releasing your videos... might be a good idea to do that with all of them?

Anonymous

🥰🥰 love it

Maybe Oxenfree? Not sure if it's something you'd be interested in or not

*whispers* Night in the Woods!

For all of you who've played the game: Is this one of those videos I really should wait to watch until I play the game myself? 🤔 Because god damn it I wanna watch it so much, but if the game really is that good I also wanna play it myself and not have it spoiled first 😩 edit: I decided to just buy the game and play it, so I'll watch the video later. Tell my family I love them.

Have not played the game, only watched the video, but I think it's safe to say you can watch the video without having played the game :P

Lemming

Unfortunately that won’t be happening for a while.

Played this game after a Fan version System Shock 2 run during summer 2018, and not only to tell my friends I don't give a damn about professional team sports, and it completely got me by surprise. What a journey! Never experimented such a thing since Alone in the Dark back in the early nineties maybe and more recently Night in the woods. Waiting for the right moment to buy and play the second one, waiting for something resembling holidays to be fair; anything miles away from antique blades that looks like Xmas would do the trick. Awesome video Harris, such a gem. But holly hell I experienced so many heated gaming moments in this game :p

so effing good, thank you <3

Tristan

I actually stopped watching after 40 minutes to play this. You're a great salesman.

This is a masterpiece

1 minute in: "Wow, this game sounds obtuse and terrible without a little masochism. I wonder what Hbomb's gotten himself into this time." 50 minutes in: "Someday, I'm going to play this game, and I'm going to finish it." Somehow this affected me enough to realize I wanted to join the Patreon, even though I've already been enjoying your videos for like a year now.

As always, wonderful work, Harris! [Also please do VTM Bloodlines, VTM is one of my favorite TTRPGs of all time and I'd love to hear your thoughts!]

It’s 05:30 EST right now, and I’m awake because my girlfriend and I watched your video and have been up all night playing Pathologic 2. Both of us love video games, and I feel like your videos have changed the way I see them. Like for example (*tiny spoiler for P2*) in the beginning of the game when my reputation through the town suddenly dropped, after I stopped being annoyed I kept thinking how great a mechanism this was to give you an instant mistrust of the “regular” townspeople and general sense of paranoia. My usual style in open-world games like this is to just run up to everyone and exhaust their dialogue options to work out what’s going on, and I loved even being ~able to notice~ that Pathologic 2 is designed so that happy idiots like me are instantly forced to adjust the way they see/interact with the game’s world. So yeah. Video games are a super weird, clever art form, and I just wanted to thank you for giving me access to that in a way I’d never experienced before.

Oh yeah, and as far as recommendations go — I’d LOVE to know what you think of The Long Dark.

I loved the video and I've got pathologic 2 on my steam wishlist! Thanks !

I've had pathologic 2 for a while but only played a bit of it. Always loved your video essays, cool to see one on pathologic. Have you considered playing The Void and doing an essay on that? Same development team.

Hi, I really enjoyed the long video, but I have one critique. I was frustrated by one specific thing you do: sometimes you present multiple layers of text on screen while also saying different words, which makes it difficult for me to process anything being presented at all. See "inattentional deafness". Specific example: see 1:50:56. If you're aware of this effect, and you're making a choice to use it, possibly expecting people to pause to get the most out of it, that's cool, power to you. That would be fitting for the subject matter. However, it could be you're just not aware of the effect this has, which is why I'm risking being told to git gud at reading and listening at the same time by letting you know about it in the spirit of constructive criticism and in the hopes that you may be a bit more mindful in future videos to present one thing at a time. Thank you.

I would love for you do an update on the current general election

This was utterly fantastic, Harry, but my partner just watched the first few minutes of your video and is now determined to play Pathologic on his own. I'm now watching him play, having watched your full video, and I'm internally screaming. Thank you for your brilliant work because I'm now prepared for the experience to come...but this is also your fault, so thanks, I guess? (He also preemptively bought the sequel because he trusts your taste in games)

God this was SO SO SO fucking good. I love this video so much and I'm now obsessed with all things Pathologic. Please please please read this copypasta: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathologic/comments/ckdlxt/what_the_fuck_did_you_just_fucking_say_about_me/

I've watched this video for the fifth time now... it's ... I can't even... thank you for doing these kinds of videos.

Holy hell! It took some time, but now I can proudly say I've ENDURED pathologic! Don't know how long I actually spent playing this since I didn't use the steam version and my sense of time has left me, but I did all three routes all the way to the theatre endings. Also really glad I decided to play before watching the video, because I don't think the game would have been able to inflict the requisite amount of suffering if had known what to expect in advance. It was an amazing experience. The game burrows into your head and makes you to think about all kinds of existential fun, and I feel like I've grown a bit from having played it. Your taste in videogames is very agreeable to me it seems, so thanks a lot! The video was beyond excellent of course (now that I've finally gotten to watch it lol). Definitely gonna recommend it to a few people. Probably not gonna recommend the game though, at least not the first one.

I now have 30+ hours in Pathologic 2. I also have over 30 deaths, most of them in the Abbatoir. Why did you make me do this, Harris ..Why.

Anonymous

So I got coronavirus (I'm fine now, obviously) and in my most lucid moments during the worst of it I watched this video over like two days. So that was an interesting experience that I don't think I'll soon forget, in that it's maybe the only thing I remember from like a week and a half. And that lead to me joining the patreon! So... thanks!

B.M. Deadrock

Curious to know what you think of Outlast and Outlast 2.

Just finished pathologic 2 and your to blame Harry. We need a follow up!
