I'm cooking up some rough sketches for the overworld sprites for Chie's Slimed "Game Over" Scene. The scene that plays whenever Chie loses to the Oozes. Which do you think is the most appealing?

Overworld sprites can be loopable while the dialog verbally illustrates the scene.

HD Static pictures take up most of the screen but are a lot more detailed.

I still dont get the difference between the two main mechanics of doing it. The loopable overworld sprite is an animation using chie map sprite, and the HD one is like a battle sprite with no animation, being a chain of detailed drawings?

Pretty much. The only thing is the HD would be like a full on image that takes up the entire screen, and wouldn't have another frame towards it. While the animation is well that, an animation. A it smaller scale, but for those who enjoy more animated then stills, it works for them. So it's a question of compromise given doing both would take time and effort, so only one would be getting done, and then what style of slime trapping one would dig.

when you say pictures, you mean several pictures or juste one ?

I liked what the original had, where there was an overworld sprite followed by an HD illustration of what was happening. In that case, I'd go for the first option (dunked over and over) followed by the third (surfacing and getting dunked). If I had to choose only one, though, it'd be the HD version.
