For some reason, after the original dragon ball run, from the beginning of Z, Toriyama sensei likes his girls having short hairstyles! Bulma, Cheela, Android 18, and Videl. I guess they are easy to draw or that is Toriyama's preference..

Yeah it's weird indeed. I saw in an interview that Toriyama had a lot of troubles to draw girls. However it's more logical for a fighter to have short hair so maybe it's the reason.
