There's a whole deep dive into her new hairstyle. A bit can be chalked up to an 'evil' look but another amount is to help differentiate her from other cast members as clearly as possible (in the comics as well which are black and white). In my head cannon she still has the same hairstyle and that ribbon is only pulling the hair back! So it's there if we need it. hahah
