Changelog

New apothocist sign textures by Beepunz

Personally a bit of a stressful month for me lost electiricy for a week and was very busy with personal stuff, so the schedule is still a bit out of wack and this update isn't going to be gigantic. But everything should be back to normal till the end of the year.

Focus this month was on bugfixing and reworking the ability system.

For the bug fixing I tried to fix the big three. Infinite Growth, softlock during passive combat, and line 130. They should all be fixed now, except possibly line 130, I suspect I know whats causing it but I'm not 100% sure.

As for the new ability system. The ability tiers no longer require the previous skill/ability unlocked. Instead it is based on stats you have sacrificed for it. So for a tier 3 bust skill you need to sacrifice 300 bust in order to unlock it. I know shrinking is the worst, but I have a few reasons behind this. One is to actually make sure you have commitment into one stat before you can get the skills, make builds a bit more specialized. Two is that it will extend the early to mid game more. I think there's a lot of stagnation once you get a few thousand levels and can squish everything, and in general the levels stop making that big of a difference in the characters general appearance. Also with each time you shrink you can unlock xp multipliers which will help you grow faster next time.

I know the ability system is a big change so be sure to let me know what you think.

I noticed the outside map (and levels in general) seem to be taking up alot of cpu/gpu power. For the unreal engine there is an instancing method that drastically reduces the strain on the gpu/cpu for any model that is copy and pasted in different positions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMIbV2rQO4k

I'm pretty sure instancing wont help, thats mainly for when you have hundreds of objects and things like the grass already are.

I encountered an issue when I opened up the game and the menu, as well as the UI in the game is far too zoomed in and proceeds off screen. I attempted to access settings, but it didn't respond when I clicked it.

sounds like its setting it to the wrong resolution. Have you tried forcing fullscreen with like Alt+Enter

i killed one enemy in the big dungeon across the bridge and now i seem to be infinitely levelling up

OmegaDragon

I found an issue where it takes like 100x more xp to start leveling up at the start also are there any commands for xp or points?

Anonymous

it stopped goin' up when i tried to slot in a point, but still not sure how it really happened :-P

OmegaDragon

ah ok I was asking about commands due to kinda like stepping past that cus its kinda hard to get off the ground without leveling

Anonymous

Hm, every enemies I kill seem give me less xp. And Chests/barrels doesn't give anything.

Is there any way to permanently fix the bugs? XP has been a problem since the very start, how does it get messed up every other update?

Anonymous

There’s a bug with the sewer dungeon, where every time you try to cross any of the little bridges at the start of the dungeon, you just fall through it, and end up stuck in that little water canal

so far I've experienced: -After killing an enemy I gained xp infinitely until I slotted in points -Before this I was getting far less XP than normal -Got nothing from barrels and chests -kept falling through bridges in the sewer -Game constantly crashes from line 130 bug, while time varies between each crash, I haven't been able to play for longer than 5 minutes or so without a crash -Points do not subtract when buying an ability, allowing me to buy as much as I want -the camera zooms out when I put points in size -the game doesn't remember my growth speed settings

unfortunately thats the nature of game making, change one system and something somewhere breaks. All the XP stuff should be fixed in the hotfix monday though. I wasn't aware of XP having a problem before, except for the combat results showing you gained less than you did, thats been fixed.

I don't know if you could look into some automated tests then? Surely there's gotta be some unit-test-suite to help you out with testing rewards and other basic logic that requires no user input?

Apparently after investing significant points into stats, it drops your level by the appropriate amount you committed. However, it then requires exp investment equal to the last level you reached to gain even one level. If you sacrifice a bunch of stats at once, it makes leveling extremely difficult, even with all of the EXP boosts.
