Curious how you guys feel about this comeback as the fandom seems a bit torn.

I'm already compiling variety show guestings to react to for them like KStar NextDoor, Lee Mujin and that one video where they sing in multiple languages. Keep the suggestions coming!

I liked Youth in the Shade a lot but Melting Point won me over! Kidz Zone is my favorite song, def my top 5 b-sides from this year.

Iman

you should watch the PIXID video with taemin! yujin is in it along with three other rookies from boynextdoor tempest and &team.

Emily Howell-Forbes

The Lee Mujin episode is amazing. Looking forward to that.

Bethany R

I really am loving Crush and Take My Hand! Overall I like Crush more than In Bloom, but like the b-sides more from Youth in the Shade. I always love seeing your reactions, too!!

valeria castillo

I relay like this comeback, I prefer crush over in bloom. And melting point and kids zone are amazing for me. At the beginning I was skeptical over crush, but when you watch the live performance that song slapppps. AMAZING

LETE

Take my hand is my favorite since I like upbeat songs more. I do agree that the song could have switched up more and feels like something is off with the mixing but the intro won me over too much. Even though I got disappointed during the chorus, I can listen to that song repeatedly just for the intro... something NewJeans about Hanbin's intro voice there. Overall I like this album more than the first one. Crush is more of my taste than In Bloom and I can't wait to see more of their promotions.

I think as a title track, In Bloom is really catchy and an amazing debut, I prefer it over Crush overall, but the post chorus is insane. However I think I prefer almost all bsides from this release compared to their debut with take my hand being my fave!

OMG thanks for your reaction! I think the intention behind the YITS tracks were to evoke a bit more emotion to target and gratify a lot of fans who watched boys planet and I think they were really successful at solidifying their fanbase that way. It seems like with this album they're trying to evolve that same sentiment with other sounds/genres to expand their audience. I don't necessarily think the group's concept is "cute," rather its more "youth" infused with a touch of elegance which opens up their discography and concepts to include both refreshing and darker concepts. It took me a few listens to get into the Melting Point tracks but they were growers for me and I feel like I got into most of them faster than the YITS tracks. Regarding their title tracks and sound, even though Crush is darker in visual aesthetic the song itself without the visuals though harder hitting than In Bloom still has the same drum and bass foundation which makes them a bit more cohesive. I agree with you completely that they shine the most when their songs have more melodies and and vocal highlights so initially I wasn't feeling the first half of the chorus with the heavy beats, but now I realize after a few listens that it makes the vocal section of the second half of the chorus have a better pay off.

Jay

Also I feel like after I saw the Crush performance and choreo it was evident that they have a very distinct style like even though the songs and mvs had very different vibes the In Bloom and Crush performances felt connected. I also think most of the Jebbies are happier with this song too cuz they've been saying for a while now that they wanted something a little hard hitting/darker

lovelypgw

omg you should watch the hello82 video with Gunwook, Matthew & Ricky! They sang three of their songs in Spanish (well they tried!)

Blue Bleu

I like the albums themselves, Youth in the Shade and Melting Point, I like them equally. Because they're different kinds of songs, I listen to each based on how I feel. But in terms of the title tracks, In Bloom and Crush, I like Crush more. Because they played it safe with In Bloom which made it not that interesting melody and instrumental-wise even though it's a nice song. Whereas there are more dynamics for Crush and its choreography too which makes it more interesting. Out of all the b-sides in Melting Point, my favorite is Good Night. It's such a warm and soothing song, especially during winter and Christmas. Good Night is like a warm hug to me and it makes me happy. Also, you should check out Baby Cloud which 6 of the members appeared in during the In Bloom promotions, I think it's the only show from then that you haven't watched. It's a show where they babysit and take care of kids and babies, it's very cute. Hanbin, Jiwoong, and Gyuvin I think will appear there again for Crush promotion.

i love crush as the title but melting point is my favorite song by far.. it's so enjoyable to listen to. also zb1 are on idol 2d1n! the first episode is out already. i know taerae, gunwook, and hao have a schedule with hanbyul/onestar, (boys planet vocal master, i think the show is called starry night?), hanbin jiwoong and gyuvin will be on baby cloud again, plus zbtv which comes out weekly now!! i'm sure i'm missing a few but it's a start

They're doing a "Idol 1N2D ZEROBASEONE in Icheon" on the kbs kpop youtube channel and the first part is already out

Leemujin x zhanghao is a must !! and also react to the idol 2D1N. So far only come out 1ep and they other on saturday. https://youtu.be/nlNRpapLykM?si=mVaaCs9tok4q_ILC

Personally I’m really happy with this album and love all the songs! To me the vibe is very zb1 and it just feels like a warm hug on a winter day :D At the moment I also prefer crush over in bloom and that means a lot cause i REALLY love in bloom so much. The only thing that kinda bothers me is that the songs are just way too short which results in some members not getting enough time to shine in my opinion. I get that shorter songs are the trend these days but I think that for a group with 9 members you need at least 3minutes on a song to really give everyone their moment. That’s why I like take my hand a lot! For variety show guestings you should definitely check out „IDOL 1N2D“ - the first episode is out and I think the second part will release on saturday :)

Doyoungismyult

I don’t think i have ever looked at ZB1 and thought they have a “cute” image. I have always looked at them as powerful. I think that’s why “In Bloom” was such an interesting debut because of the difference in their image I am obsessed with the entire album…but “Take My Hand” is my fave. 😂 Overall I love this album. I love the different tone of songs and how they showcased they can do it all. ☺️

Hana Eccleston

I think you’ll like zhang hao on leemujin service!!

Eurone

I love this comeback so much ! As a first listen I enjoyed all the songs way more than with YITS, my favorite track is Take My Hand, I've been listening to it nonstop

Since everyone else has mentioned everything so far, I'll reccommend their 100 day anniversary live on youtube if you haven't seen it. it's not comeback related but it's really enjoyable.

Just listened to YITS and this album back to back so I could get my thoughts across, I love a healthy discussion! Personally, I like Crush and Melting Point more. Don’t get me wrong, YITS and In Bloom felt like a perfect entry album and title for ZB1; it established their beat heavy/production forward sound which is what I attribute to being their “sound”, and is also a theme throughout this new album. The entire youth album felt like a thank you to fans, as well as a “look at us take our first steps in this industry”, and was incredibly heartwarming (back to zerobase is still one of my favourite tracks). Melting Point as an album however, feels more… flavourful?? is the best way that I can describe it. It still has their signature sound, and I think that Crush is the perfect counterpoint to In Bloom. I like that it’s different enough; I think that if we had a track similar to In Bloom it would be boring, and wouldn’t give them any room to grow. With these members, they can embody all different concepts — they should have music with more depth that matches them as well 🥰 Personal taste wise, Good Night is my favourite track on this album; I love a good stripped back vocal track for the members to shine (Crush comes in a close second for me). Overall, it feels like a step in the right direction. My gripe with this album is the vocal production — some tracks had too much vocal processing to the point where you could barely hear their voices, and then others felt like someone left them on the floor unfinished and forgot to mix them all together?? Main vox centre and forward please!! (As a vocal producer this drives me up the wall and makes my eye twitch but I don’t know how many casual listeners will notice) With the quick turnaround, I’m just so proud of them — they’ve all clearly put in the work and you can hear the growth in their voices throughout the Melting Point album. Onwards and upwards, our Zerobaseone babies!! 🥹🫶🏼

i love Take my Hand and Good night but I understand why crush is the title track and I also liked it a lot. ZB1 are on idol 2d1n! the first episode is out and is really funny. Zhang Hao in Lee Mujin Service is a must, I reaaly love the covers and How Hao spoke with LeeMujin He's really very carismatic and funny

Nathalie Salud

this is slightly not zb1 related but han yujin and taemin is here with hyeongseop (from pd101 s2, now a tempest member), fuma (&TEAM), and sungho (boynextdoor) i just keep laughing the whole time they're so adorable meeting their role model taemin 😭 "Find 16th year idol SHINee TAEMIN among rookie idols (HYEONGSEOP, FUMA, SUNGHO, HAN YUJIN) | PIXID" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyaKryFq3L4

Jennifer

Thanks for the reaction! Take my Hand is my favorite B-side. Will you be reacting to Jungkook’s entire album as well? Would love it if you would (if you have time)!!

Eurone

Right ? Especially looking at their different performance on boys planet, they struck me more as powerful when it comes to performing. But their personality are indeed cute and endearing I think.

Hao’s Lee Mujin episode!

okay so i needed to sit with this album for a while before i felt that i could give a review.. overall it's somewhere in between being a hit or miss for me. i definitely love crush much more than i loved in bloom and it is for sure my favorite song on the album. putting that song aside, the rest of the songs for me are okay. they are songs that i can listen to once in a while. for me i just kinda grew tired of them quite quick (mind you i still stream the living shit out of the YITS album). i think some of the songs had so much potential but the producers kinda threw that away. I think melting point might be my fav bside on this album, but i don't think it comes anywhere near the YITS bsides. we pretty much have the same opinion on take my hand. the verses slap, however, that chorus along with the instrumental does not work for me. i grew tired of that synth pretty quick. with kids zone i'm not really sure what to say. i don't think it's a bad song but i also don't think it will be a song i will be listening to much. good night is definitely up there with melting point (maybe even a bit higher) but i also do not see myself going back to it often. overall i wouldnt say i was disappointed with this comback. maybe more underwhelmed. however i am glad about the title track. that song is amazing and the performance is even better. the title track definitely brings up the overall score of this comeback. a 7/10 for me:))

Andreeeea

also i definitely recommend that you watch the 1N2D with them. I haven't laughed that much in a while. Others already mentioned it but ep 1 is out with ep 2 coming on saturday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlNRpapLykM

I can already picture that good night is gonna be the final song at their final concert that everyone is gonna be crying to.

hi jeff!!! i was sooo looking forward to your reaction to their album! thank you so much for uploading so soon :') adding in my 2 cents, i generally like their more pop/r&b songs where they can show off their vocal abilities and allow me to casually jam to for example 'and i' and 'our season' are just way too good… i think melting point fits that theme really well so it's my favorite b-side in this new album. they did really well with that track and it's so so catchy. take my hand's instrumental threw me off at first and i agree that the verses are better than chorus, but after a few listens i became obsessed with the song (pre-chorus is just so so so good). Good night is also really good and very festive like, perfect for this time of the year! I think kids zone is the one song where it’ll take awhile for me to like. for title track, crush beat in bloom for me in a heart beat... i absolutely LOVE crush! it's very catchy and performance focused which i love :) can't wait for the live performances + what they're cooking for award shows with this song! here's list of variety content I’d love for you to react to: hao x leemujin service, zb1 1n2d - they have 1 episode out now and 3 more coming out scheduled on Saturdays - THIS IS SOOOO FUNNY, gunwook x ricky x matthew on hello82~ thank you again for reacting! Appreciate you lots!

jeffavenue

i think cute concepts can be powerful. the boys planet stuff were definitely appropriate for the competition but they weren’t formed yet during that time. i think if we look at the members’ personalities and vocal tones, i think something like a boy version of earlier Itzy songs is more of what I’m expecting from them as a group. Cute but powerful. I say this because the boys’ vocal tones aren’t exactly gritty, textured or husky, etc. they’re very clean (although powerful). This kind of concept would also set them apart from all the other bg’s right now and I believe they (and the fans) can handle it. I see where they’re going with their current concepts though. I just hope they don’t go too diverse every album because at the end of the day, they still need an identity and sound that is very identifiable for them 😁

InRealLifeTV

i’ll have to disagree i’m really picky with music like sadly their first album i wasn’t a fan of sadly but this album was a masterpiece.. by far crush is the top release of the year in kpop for me and take my hand the instrumental for me is what makes it so special ive never heard the mixing before and its so addiction to the ears its sooo good

catanda

i honestly loved this comeback so much! and the album too, i feel like we cant put the boys or like any group into a set style, even if the genre of the music they put out is different to previous releases, at its core its ''their'' style bc they are doing it no matter the difference in sound,,,we all like different styles for some groups and thats super valid, i feel like twitter police puts too much pressure on us to like every single song or ''you are not a real fan'' and thats dumb,, anyways ,,,,zb1's sound is pretty special and every song will feel very 'them' for me no matter the genre (unless wakeone makes bad choises )

Melissa Argueta

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caXWUHAlukM Idol Cookbang with Gunwook, Gyuvin, Taerae, and Yujin!

Seung Yoon

It’s not that I don’t like crush. But I think it’s a very typical boy group title track. I loved in bloom for them better because it’s uniqueness. Not a lot boy groups do this elegant but bright vibe. In fact no boy groups ever done that. I don’t like the inconsistency of zb1 so far. It’s feels like it’s way to early to do this switch.

Jerin

I love Take My Hand, have been playing it on repeat!

Lynnji

Crush title track I for sure like better than In Bloom because Hao's vocals are so addicting and the dance is iconic. I LOVEEE Take My Hand and the chorus and everything about that songs hits for me. I guess it really does just come down to preference. I do think Kidz Zone is my least favorite on the track, though. Either Melting Point or Take my Hand have to be my favorite song after Crush. Goodnight is amazing too, like did you hear Ricky!! omg im so in love with his vocals
