After this elimination I really realized that the ones who got the 28 places many of them had the right to get that place. I was just sour on a couple of them but that's life. From the eliminated people I was sad Yedam, Wumuti, Jihoo, Krystian, Bryan, Seunmin, YounSeo, Doha and Mingyu and so many more couldn't make it. Even many of the eliminated trainess had great skills and great talent. I was super happy people voted for Woongki but reminded me that the voting system is really wrecked. Show us all the performances in one episode so we can be fair with everyone. Like some of my favorite performances where on episode 7 and didn't had the time to vote for them all. Also Mnet evil editing Mattbin makes me angry. Like they lived together and I'm sure they know each other really well to sort out things without this drama. My top picks are S Hanbin, Jongwoo, Hui and Gunwook but I may switch with ZhangHao, WangZihao. I have a lot of trouble voting cuz I like them all.

You're right, the term "oriental" has racist undertone. It was used by Western colonialists to demarcate and fetishise anything from Eastern cultures that can be considered exotic. I think it's especially problematic since many of us from Asian countries have seen and used this term so often without fully understanding where it originated from. I'm not surprised Mnet is making this blunder given how they included cultural misappropriation in their stage outfit prank the last time...

what's interesting is Zhanghao placed first in terms of global votes and 6th in terms of korean votes. The difference between global votes of Zhanghao and Keita is 28 :).

So, regarding the Matthew and Hanbin thing, I think the disagreement was more on the focus of the dancing. I see Hanbin's point about wanting to get formations and things down first. IMO, with people such as Takuto on the team, this is the better way to do things since changing any of the details after Takuto memorized the first version will be pretty difficult for Takuto to adapt to. Still, Matthew was definitely well intentioned and I wouldn't say wrong either. Like, this was probably a 2 minute conversation at best, just made dramatic with tense music and cuts lol. I also feel like people put their friendship on a pedestal? It's easy to see why - Mnet has pushed it exactly as that. But it's okay for friends to have disagreements - it helps build and strengthen friendships! And they clearly worked through it quickly enough, so no harm no foul. RE Switch. I love Wumuti so much. He deserved so much better. He's so talented, bright, and genuine. I also really didn't like the attitude of some of the team. Yes, it's likely you're going home, but the show is about more than just debuting. It's the last impression you're going to leave on the viewers, and this just isn't a good look. A strong showing here, even in the behind the scenes footage, could lead to a company scouting you, or fans to want to follow you further on. That's how I feel about Wumuti now. I think Supercharger also exemplifies the difference attitude makes. Yes, SuperCharger didn't do well during the interims. But everybody is okay with it, because they tried. It didn't work at that time, but they TRIED, and people resonate with that.

with the way mnet keep editing matthew it feels like they're trying to make his rank drop... people on twitter have noticed that a lot of the clips used in the teaser are misleading too like when jiwoong says something to matthew they're standing up but in matthew's reply they're all sitting on the floor so they were probably talking about something else... a little worried for his rank just because most of his votes come from international fans so if he gets even less korean votes then his rank can drop a lot.

ya top 28 is pretty solid except for the ones i mentioned in the video. so many talented ones going home 😭 ya the whole 1 week earlier than the others can really save some trainees. they should do what american idol did where they would just have one voting period (1 day i believe) and that’s it. like u can’t vote until after all the performances are done.

I think honestly a huge issue is how Korean fans view the boys. Korean votes count for more than global fan votes and unfortunately Korean fans eat up the evil edits. So I can see a few people dropping. I’ll be so sad if Keita is dropped because he’s the only Japanese member currently anywhere near top 9 and it’d be nice to have more than one non Korean member in the final 9 so I’m planing to vote for him this round and going forward. I agree with everything you said about the passion and drive for performing. I can see that there are some active idols who really just don’t care all that much for it but it’s their job and it’s not a normal job and quitting can have consequences, that effect way more people than a traditional job. But they’re good at it and never really had to do anything else so why not? I’m sure it was fun in the beginning and they definitely worked their butts off but yeah you can see they don’t view it in the same light. I think it’s worse when you have that member next to another member who really loves being an idol after all this time even if the job is insane. It’s not like I expected them to love being an idol all the time(I definitely wouldn’t) but I guess you can see when someone is having a bad day and when someone has really just checked out. So I really was touched by Wumuti and I was touched by Ollie when he said he wanted to perform at least one more time. And it was heartbreaking when the others boys were wishing for one more chance to be on stage. Even though survival programs kinda suck they give a great opportunity for these guys to get together, perform, collaborate and learn something new and practice in new ways.

oh yes good point on the dance. i totally forgot about that part as i got too worked up lol. but to add to your point, it could also go to the point where matthew was only doing the details because he doesn’t wanna override hanbin with making formations. so while hanbin is away, he can really only polish what was already taught. anything that would further the completion of the dance would overtake hanbin’s pacing right?

That's a good point! Like it's really hard to make a judgment call with only a tiny snippet like that. My overall feel is that it really was just a minor disagreement about the direction of practice that was resolved in no time. Mnet is milking it for drama. I also feel mean for saying this because he's very cute and he tries really hard, but I think you can really see how Takuto affects group dynamics. He's been in a high conflict group each time - I initially thought it was just bad luck, but after rewatch I've realized that the reason conflict happens is because everyone is trying to adapt to his significantly slower learning curve, and can't figure out the best way to do it. I don't think there is a best way - it's really something that can only be fixed by Takuto having more time and more training, which isn't what this show can provide. He's a hard worker and he'll do well in the future, but yeah he's not ready for this show and it's had a lot of unfortunate ripple effects

100%. i agree a lot of idols definitely worked hard to get to where they are. we also have to remember that they must’ve started when they were children/teens and are now adults and as we know, we get to know more about ourselves and what we enjoy as we grow older. so some of them who have seemingly checked out probably have had a change of heart cause they are different now than they were younger. i chan and the others just triggered something in me because i really liked him in the last mission and saw what he’s capable of. so for him to just dismiss the opportunity and therefore his participation was just such a disappointment.

I mean, they are Bestfriends. And even if they are bf, I think there can be some little conflict or different thoughts while practicing. I definitely understand Hanbin’s words. He must had a whole plan for their practice as a leader. And Matthew wants to help other trainees and lead. I think the best is just follow Hanbin’s plan because he is the leader and he must have his own plan. But it’s just a small conflict. They are still Bestfriends. MNET JUST TRYING TO MAKE EVERYTHING DRAMATIC AND EVIL EDIT ABOUT EVERY SINGLE THING 😠😠😭

In my opinion Takuto's spot couldve went to Wumiti. My top 3 were originally G3 (keita, zhang hao, and matthew) but I want to give woonggi and seowon some votes as well. Cause like you said we need people who can fit well in variety shows, and from their old videos (Nine.i and TO1) they would fit. So my plan is to interchange between them cause I still want to give my boys some votes.

The ones that I’m voting right now are Matthew Jay and I’m rotating between Seunghwan and Lee Jeong Hyun(the 24th place, the one you said you don’t remember, I really liked him in Gang, like his rapping and visuals are amazing) But I was so sad about Mun Jung hyun wumuti and Yedam being eliminated

I havent finished watching the episode, but i just wanna say that I completely agree with everything uve said about the Switch team. Its such a shame that majority felt discouraged and was making jokes about it. I feel so bad for Wumuti, ive watched him in other survival shows he is very talented and has a greatt personality. Wether the trainees get eliminated or not this really is a rare opportunity for them because end of the day, they are practicing, gaining experience and knowledge to better themselves!

I thought I Chan would try harder cuz he had already been in Iland and got eliminated. Like you can see others so desperate to get the choreo and leave at least a good image of them. Like Doha, Mingyu and Da Eul were bad but they tried and never gave up. I appreciate their effort and hope they get to debut when they are ready.

I'm still mad about Shuai Bo getting in AND placing higher than Woongki lol personally I haven't felt his desperation or passion for this even before Feel Special and I feel like he just wants the glamour part of the idol life. While the voting itself may no longer be rigged, MNet definitely still has an ideal lineup they want to finalize and push through editing, and it's clear they either want Matthew to drop lower or to not debut at all. People who lack the media literacy to go beyond the editing are not going to take kindly to any sort of force going against Hanbin, and I fear that it will reflect on the next survival announcement, but regardless, I agree with everyone else here; they're besties. It's just a minor disagreement in pedagogy and learning style, easily solvable with behind-the-scenes conversations. They'll be fine, they're mature. SO many trainees were robbed. Like you, I was hard BITTER that Shuai Bo ranked HIGHER than Woong Ki. If Feel Special had been in the first episode rather than the second, I have no doubts that Woong Ki would have skyrocketed and Shuai Bo's spot could've gone to other robbed trainees. And yes, Takuto is cute and all, but at this point, I'm gonna need the voting audience to realize that he's just not ready. Aside from the fact that he's also underaged, he simply needs more time beyond this show to improve. I know I'm obsessed because my heart BROKE when people like Yedam, Mun Jung Hyun, Anthonny, Park Jihoo, and ESPECIALLY Wumuti didn't make the cut. I've realized this already WAY before, but it hurts to reaffirm the fact that sometimes, pure talent is just not enough for some people. 😭 Sincerely rooting for these robbed trainees post-BP. I hope they go to good groups! As for the current Top 9, I wholeheartedly agree with what you said; I may have other picks that I'd want in there instead (Haruto, Wang Zi Hao, Lee Seunghwan, Park Hanbin, Kum Junhyeon, among others), but I'd actually be fine if this were the final line-up. I cackled when you said they should just pull an NCT, might as well debut the Top 25 and I'd still be satisfied LMAO 😭

Also right now, I might rotate between my G-Group favorites who are hovering (Haruto, Keita, Wang Zi Hao) because they will always need the help, and my K-Group faves who are in a similar position (Lee Seunghwan, Park Hanbin, Kum Junhyeon). i saw loads of knetz laughing at the hanbin matthew edit bcos they were talking to eachother so nicely while mnet played dramatic music over the top trying to create drama. the only problem was that they were not on the same page about how to teach the others but after they had that convo the problem was solved. it was a pretty normal friendly convo that got portrayed as dramatic for no reason tbh

personally i think the ma jingxiang situation was unfair, in girls planet they were able to divide the sections they had so it isn’t out of order for him to ask and the reaction he recieved was kind of unfair. also lee jeonghyeon (my fave so no hate to him) got to change his part and add a rap. mnet just hate the chinese trainees and even tho ma jingxiang had already been eliminated when this was aired they still edited him badly.

I think if only the part where they are preparing for the artist battle was shown in the last week episode, people would definitely vote more for Wumuti and he could possible survive. He may not be one of my picks, but I really love his attitude. It's so heartbreaking to see him go ;( And I totally agree with you about Shuaibo and Takuto making it to the Top 28 is a bit unfair to other trainees who deserve the spot more than them. I would give it to Mun Junghyun, Wumuti or maybe Yedam or Yunseo. Plus, I'm so glad Lee Jeong Hyeon survived. He's the one who you said you didn't remember him. He's one of the Wakeone Korean trainees, along with Taerae, Park Hanbin and Mun Junghyun, and he was in the Love me right team with Hui and Sung Hanbin last time, but he didn't get a lot of screen time. I hope that he will get more screen time after this. Also, I'm so happy Taerae got into the Top 9, he is one of my top picks. But because I mainly watch the episodes, and didn't watch other stuff like famcams or other promotional videos, I still think he didn't get a lot screen time to solidify his position. The only thing I'm grateful to learn is that Taerae is actually very popular in Korea. He's actually in 3rd place, after Sung Hanbin and Han Yujin, if they only count the Korean votes. But he's not that popular with the global voters. So I really hope he will get a good part in the next performance and also good edits. Jebal T-T

Omggg and I thought this couldn’t get worse emotionally speaking, we lost so many good talents in this elimination and I’ll never forget mnet for the way they edit their show, it’s getting old and annoying…anyways it’s so hard choosing only 3 people, but my fixed top 3 is : Seunghwan, Junhyeon and Taerae/Kamden, I need to see more of his dancing, I saw his cover of Peaches by Kai, he’s AMAZING, the way he moves is so mesmerizing I don’t know how to describe it…

I think the people like Ichan that were joking around it could also be a defense mechanism to cope with the fact they won't be able to perform. At least for him, this is his second survival show after I-land. People handle disappointment differently, and I really believe the editing was evil. They were most likely on break when he was putting on lip gloss in the mirror. We say don't fall for bad editing, but I think people fell for it with this team. Also, that team still looked better than the team with different attitudes. Ichan was even a slow learner in dancing on Iland too. I don't think anyone was wrong in that situation. Great reaction. If you thought the sports day stuff was funny, then you should check out the video Mnet put on their youtube channel that shows one of the games they played that wasn't included in the episode it was really funny, and it would be great if you could react to it. I was disappointed that they didn't put it in the episode because some people don't watch Mnet youtube videos, and jiwoong was really funny in one of the games. I don't know if I can add the link here, so if you want to watch it on youtube just type "boys planet ep 8 pre-release" into youtube search and you should find it quickly.

In KTL g team, Keita had given up some of his lines to another member, but the vocal and rap masters had said that the parts are fixed and cannot be changed. Thus what MJX is asking for falls under this category of wanting sections of sub vocal 3 and 4. Whereas, Lee Jeonghyeon wants to change his own part (which doesn’t affect other members parts) into a rap. There’s a difference between what they’re both asking for.

Based on what we've seen from Shauibo performance/skill wise up until now, I do think he should've been eliminated this round. But at the same time, I also do think MNET has crafted him to be the "lazy guy who's thinks his pretty face will get him through" type of persona. Looking back at the episodes, we really don't see much of Shauibo featured aside from the moments they used him to push the feel special scenario. Like, they hardly ever have interview portions of him, he's not really featured in a lot of the extra footage they release outside the episodes and they didn't show his speech during the eliminations. Not to mention, when you see in him Youth With You 3, he was definitely more vocal than he is here. So again, while I do think there are others more deserving of a spot in the top 28, I'm not going to fling around hate on him because I can't trust how MNET pieces together drama and I know how easily they cut things out and paste together clips with sound effects to create more dramatic moments. Cai JinXin did mention in a livestream recently that yes the tensions were high in the feel special practices but they had an understanding that they were in a stressful situation and did get along. Anyways, I do hope he has some sort of redeeming moment next round because the hate towards him is crazy and unnecessary. You don't like him? Fine. Focus on your favs, promote them and VOTE for them. Wishing someone else misfortune, sending death threats, and bullying them isn't going to make your top picks any better and at the end of the day, we don't know the full story. We only know of the small snippet that MNET chose to air and that's only small moments from like a week or so of rehearsals they had. So we don't know the true context of anything the guys said or done. And Mnet has shown time and time again that they're damn good at twisting stories to create certain personas and scenarios. Anyways, I also to feel like Takuto's spot should've gone to someone like Wumiti. I was clinging on to hope that he would pull a Yoon Jungwoo and have a sudden rise in the ranks and I'm really sad for him that he wouldn't be able to perform this stage. Don't get me wrong, Takuto is fun to watch, absolutely adorable and the other guys seem to love him, but like you said, he's just not ready. Right now, having 3 pick is tough because there's so many guys I want in the final line up. But at the moment, my #1 pick is still Jay. #2 and #3 are Chen Kuanjui and Ricky but I did sometimes switch those 2 out for Kum Junhyeon, Haruto, or Keita.
