I kept refreshing the Patreon page to see if you uploaded a reaction lol. So yeah, I am obsessed with this show too

jeffavenue

it’s actually fast editing this but the upload takes forever because of the length 😩😂

heebindidthat

they'll show the full background on Tomboy team in next episode, this was just teasers! Just like they did with Love Me Right K Group last mission

pikachu

Minhyuk said that they would be combining G and K groups though? it was a bit confusing but he said when introducing the round + performances right before they chose the songs Also for Tomboy the reason they didn't show the dance is bc it's a Rap and Vocal performance. The rest we saw so far were Rap+dance or Vocal+dance.

jeffavenue

LOL i just rewatched it and it’s probably because i had that big comment about k vs g and missed the next line right afterwards 🥲

cynthia li

IMO a big part of the strategy in choosing who to push out is - what role would each person fill in this group? It's not just wanting to work with the best people, you need to be sure you've got someone in the group with each of the necessary skills. So even if you've got 3 of the best vocalists in front of you and 1 average rapper, if you're a vocalist yourself, you'd need to push out one of the vocalists, strategically speaking. Re Ma Jinxiang, even the Korean fans are angry at Mnet for the blatant evil editing. The general consensus is that he's being portrayed as being selfish for... being hardworking? Also, a fan account from the live show said that Takuto mentioned Ma Jinxing actually learned the choreo early and taught it to him so....

Rein

it seems like they're following the Girls Planet 999 episode formula pretty faithfully (we got the new songs at the end of ep 6 as well) so the last episode should air around April 20th as episode 12. So i think it'll def air when you're travelling. assuming no delays or anything unexpected happening when filming of course

Isabella N.

i think it’s cuz of the way he said it in korean. (i apologize in advance for this unnecessary rant, im learning korean and i’m a linguistics major so translating stuff like this is interesting to me). the verb goes at the end of the sentence (in this case, “will not”) so he paused before saying the verb to create suspense. but since korean and english sentence structure is very different, it could’ve been hard for the translators. i don’t fully understand the sentences he used there, so i might be wrong about this specific instance, but they do that a lot to create suspense on survival shows, and sometimes variety shows even, but it’s almost never translated that way lmao. the eliminations last episode are a great example. he would say “are there other survivors from this team? [pause] yes/no.” but a direct translation would be “more survivors [pause] there are/arent.” obviously that doesn’t make grammatical sense in english, so they translate it differently. sorry for the random rant, it’s just something i’m always noticing

jeffavenue

that strategy makes sense. i didn’t really make the connection cause we haven’t really established who’s a rapper and who’s not or who’s flexible and can do both.

jeffavenue

if april 20th, looking at my itinerary, yes i will not be able to film it until 2-3 days afterwards 😭

pikachu

Ah i see thank you for the explanation. That does make more sense since the trainees reactions were interesting when he said that.

pikachu

Also, just wondering if I’m the only one thinking that Gyuvin’s editing was…weird?

cynthia li

GANG - Lee Seunghwan is EVERyTHING. Mnet keeps sleeping on him and I just don't get it. Like are we seeing the same man? Kum Junhyeon is a variety gem lmao. But also has the skills to back up his personality. Overall a very solid performance and I've got no real issues with it at all. ZOOM - probably my fave this episode actually! There was just such flow, energy and joy throughout, and everyone's base level of competency is so high that you just fall right into the performance without any worries. Also, Wumuti-ti-ti-ti was a genius move HOME - while I really like Jongwoo's storyline here, and it was a very meaningful one, I think I would have liked to see more of the vocal rearrangement process here. I think that, while obviously the group has some insane vocalists, it was missing something in the arrangement to really make it pop. Very good skill wise, but didn't impact me emotionally. LOVE KILLA - an excellent performance all around, and Matthew just has so much charisma on stage it's magnetic. I was reallllllly frustrated with the edit for this team though. It felt choppy, unresolved and weird. We got to see barely anything of Gyuvin's dancing, even after he had that interim negative feedback and then wound up getting number 1 in votes (apparently it was fantastic live). Jiwoong got some strange moments too? And Seo Won got absolutely no focus despite killing it on stage and needing the screentime the most. I am disappointed at the behind the scenes cuts for the performances on this ep though. Seems almost entirely dance focussed, when I love seeing the rap-making and vocal rearrangement parts since those are usually given less focus in other missions. Hopefully we get more of that next ep. Tomboy looks absolutely fire and I'm soooo hyped. Also really fell for Zhang Hao in this ep.

cynthia li

definitely get that - I still don't know half the trainees specialties tbh

anejelly

Choosing 9 people is already hard to begin with but it's even harder now to choose 6 especially since this show is making me root for a lot of people. All in all I think the top 9 as of the moment is already solid but I kinda want to focus my vote rn on people that I still do wanna see on the next round which are Woonggi, PHanbin, Anthonny, Seunghwan (heavy on Seunghwan because I honestly want him on top 9) and then my usual vote which are Matthew and Keita. Right now Matthew is probably my bias but for one pick I already established from the start that I would give it to Keita. He was my bias during ygtb and although I wasn't able to follow him after the show I know how much he went through and I truly belive that he deserves to debut in this group. Agree with what you said on the beginning about Jiwoong and well this episode really convinced me that he would be great for the final line uo but he has a very solid fanbase already so I have to give my vote for my other picks.

Dan

The whole edit for Lovekilla this episode was just stupid for me🫠

mac

My 6 are Jay, Keita, Haruto, Seunghwan, Junhyeon and probs Zi Hao (I try to change the 6th every day because 6 is too small of a number)! I would include the usuals (Matthew, Hanbin etc.) but I trust everyone else will be voting for them while I save the others I love 😂 I really wish Mnet would focus on showing the boys' personalities/bonds though instead of focusing on who to evil edit 😕 I just feel like I know the less popular guys less compared to when I was watching P101s2 or PX101

pikachu

I’m waiting for the fancams to make my final judgement but they kept cutting away from him when it was his parts kinda confused me. Especially when a lot of the audience did mention he was the one to impress them the most.

Dan

I just knew, Seongeon was SM trainee before, there are pictures with him at NCT concert with other SM trainees. No wonder he’s a great vocalist. And I can hear the traditional SM style vocal. +Gyuvin was a YG trainee

Andreeeea

So this is what my top 6 looks like right now (none of these are in any particular order except the first one) 1. Zhang Hao He is my ride or die till the end. Definitely who I will be voting for as my one pick. 2. Matthew He is such a cutie and i have fallen so deeply in love with his personality so he is definitely a must for this group. 3. Sung Hanbin I know he has a solid fanbase and that he pretty much is secured a place in the top 9 but I'm still gonna keep voting for him. He is definitely a center material. I don't think i would want to see anybody other than him on the number 1 spot. 4. Keita Such a small guy but he just screams talent. I remember him from Treasure Box so i knew he would be good but this amount of talent he is bringing, makes it pretty much impossible for him not to be in my top 6. 5. Jay I have not seen enough of this guy. His voice is just amazing. 6. Haruto We need a guy like this in the group for sure. His personality, his talent. He is so so amazing so i hope he gets a higher ranking the next time

Matt Vesliño

OMG like i have the same problem as you do, jeff!! it's SO hard when you're so invested in like... more than half of these trainees? i was shocked because i feel like in every group, there's at least one person that i'm interested in (whether visually or because of their extreme talent)!! i know most of their names and can attach it to their faces, it's WILD!! lowkey i want them to pull an iz*one so 3 more people can make it in the final line-up, i can't bear the thought of just 9 of these trainees making it, like so MANY of them are SO talented. but as i've mentioned before, g-group already is at an inherent disadvantage when it comes to voting, so right now, i'm reserving my picks for these guys: - chen kuan jui (strong dancer, great leader, beautiful lines!) - wang zi hao (STRONG dancer, i'm glad he's ranking higher recently!) - keita (amazing rapper, EXCELLENT leader / producer, an all-rounder!) - zhang hao (king. main slayer. i hope he and hanbin yassify tomboy like we all know they can!!) - haruto (i was already voting for him before, but his performance in zoom solidified it for me. also something about him is so neo-coded, i just fell in love immediately.) - seok matthew (i wasn't actually keen on matthew in the beginning, and i would've voted wumuti in this spot but i think wumuti is doomed with only the top 28 moving on 😭 but i still love matthew, and while love killa was personally a mismatch for his vibe, he's still v talented!!)

Matt Vesliño

BUT on the performances: between the 2 rap/dance teams, i think zoom did marginally better than gang, but oh my GOD!!!! both of them killed that, and they were back to back?? to open that segment??? like the entertainment value was just skyhigh for me. so so good. i agree that gang's rappers could've been a little cleaner with the timing, but i love all of their attacks on it, and as always, seunghwan killed it. junhyeon, also as always, HILARIOUS and witty. since he did the choreo for gang, i feel like it all had so much personality, but zoom almost edged them out in most aspects? like gang had personality, but zoom had PERSONALITY, and like you said, each of them didn't try to be like jessi, but instead kept their respective personal brands, and keita was just so smart with the whole thing. both him and junhyeon actually, so honestly, gang and zoom are so close, with zoom just a lil bit ahead. as for the 2 vocal/dance teams, i felt... a tad underwhelmed? i liked that jongwoo utilized home team's strengths to their advantage and revised the choreo accordingly to suit their vocal strength, but even then, i still feel the parts could've been better delegated? jongwoo for real killed that though, and still, their team gave a very consistent performance. i think for love killa, i agree that the midterm evals segment can always get grating, especially since the actual industry doesn't operate that way, but it's there. it happened. it was... eh. frustrating, but i expected it to happen to one of love killa or tomboy team anyway because mnet loves drama, lol. i too was shocked by gyuvin clinching that win because jiwoong was in his ELEMENT here, but that live performance must've def come off better for gyuvin too. those proportions are no joke lol, i can def see that benefitting his performance because there were a lot of limb-extension-type movements (from what i saw). all in all, every performance was still quite good. consistent overall, but i think that zoom and gang rose above the rest imo!

nghn

My top 6 now after ep 6 is: (this is actually not my MOST 6 FAVORITE but I have to use strategy. I try not to vote for any top9 to protect my ult rank but there are still some exception. If base on favoritism my top4 would be Matthew, Keita, Zhanghao, Hanbin) 1. Seok Matthew. He is my ult (1pick) so... But he actually grow on me, because I don't normally like trainee with the cute, bubbly concept like him. I love his mindset with want to try new thing and show us lots of sides. He has a vocal tone that I like too. He is really likable lol. As I said because he is my 1pick, I will vote for him no matter what eventhough his rank is already high. 2. Keita. He give me leader (Mashiro iykyk) vibe so much omg. He also grow on me, the more I watch the more I fall for him lol. He just THAT person yk, a total package with brain lmao. He came here to win and win only haha. He is at the edge (of top9) and most of his vote is from international fan so I have to vote to keep him in the top9 TT 3. Jongwoo. I start to notice and root for him after Back Door but after this episode I think I have to give him my vote lol. idk if you notice but he jump to #16 this episode. Well-deserved, this season dark horse for sure. Really hope that he can make a dramatic twist and go to final round. And he gave me Cho Seungyoun (Woodz) vibe. 4. Ollie. I don't really have faith that he gonna make it so I vote for him just to SAVE him =(( I noticed his special tone of rap since Kick it. I also root for all the Yuehua kid but Ollie is my favorite lol. He is so likable and I think he has so much potential, he just need more time. I already hype for Yuehua next boygroup because the lineup look very solid. 5. Han Yujin. I know I said I don't vote for top9 but my friend's pick is him so we decide to trade vote, that means she also gonna vote for my pick (Matthew) 6. Jay. I love his voice. Period. That is enough lol. I also really like Seungeon and Taerae for vocal but for Seungeon it lack a little bit of soul like you said and for Taerae idk about him till recently. This is kind of preference anyway, I stick with Jay for so long now so I do feel attached and also his style is my favorite in the entire show. Like Keita he is also on the edge so... gotta do what I have to do.

Jade

Not sure as I don't speak/ read korean but i think when they were criticising Gyuvin's dancing it sounded like he said "You're just marking it" which in that case i think is a fair criticism bc it did look like just marking it

Jade

Also you're reaching with the tomboy edit bit tomboy is in the rap + vocal group so they literally don't have a dance portion to show

Eurone

Now that we're about halfway in the show I just can't help but wonder if we could have a JBJ situation again ; basically, to people who don't know them, JBJ was a fanprojet made group, with a few contestants of Produce 101 season 2 who didn't make it to the final group. It all started from a fanmade "promotional" poster you would see whenever a comeback is near, which pretty much spread everywhere, managed to reach knetizens, who were also positive about this project, even the members and agencies involved got to know about this. After some discussions with Cj&em and Loen entertainment, they agreed to debut them and they lasted about 7 months, all that with 2 comebacks, which is a LOT for a group that wasn't meant to debut. The thing is, I know agencies mostly send their trainees to bring exposure to them, so as to gain popularity and build a 'solid' fanbase before they debut ; they KNOW we're too involved in to them at this point of the show, meaning that we're most likely to check whichever group they end up debuting in. Hence why I'm not really sure if agencies would be willing to 'let them go', even for a few months, and just destroy the whole purpose of the show. But it was done before, there's still a minimal possibility that this could happen again, hoping the best to all the trainees who don't make it to the group though !

Jay

Im pretty sure on Peak Time they announced to the trainees that they would have an evaluation like 24hrs after the mission was given and some of the trainees who were on other competition shows said that wasnt new to them. So I feel like BP probably follows a similar format for these evals. Also, Zhang Hao was the leader of KTL G team.

Jannika K

the thing about tomboy it is only about rap + singing, this is why they did not show the dance, the other groups that were shown in this episode was rap + dance, or vocal + dance

Mari

My top 6 votes at the moment are 1. Jiwoong: He’s my 1 pick so I’m voting for him always. I just think he deserves to debut so much after everything he’s been through in his previous groups AND he’s freaking talented. So glad he got to show more sides to him this episode and got the highlight in the Love Killa performance! 2. Haruto: I love this boy so much. From rap to dance to personality he has it all for me. 3. Seunghwan: People need to stop sleeping on this man he’s sooo good!! 4. Seowon: Love his energy and vibe. And he has such a pretty voice in my opinion. And I read somewhere that he learned modern dance in school so I would loveee to see more of his dancing. 5. and 6. change all the time cause I want so many people to survive to the next round :,) Definitely am voting for Chen Kuanjui, Ricky, Cha Woongki, Wumuti and others on rotation. My votes don’t necessarily show my ideal top 9 in the debut group. For that it goes like this: 1. Jiwoong (obvi) 2. Sung Hanbin 3. Keita 4. Haruto 5. Matthew 6. Taerae 7. Seunghwan 8. Zhang Hao 9. Park Gunwook

jeffavenue

yup i touch on that after and realized it was only vocal/rap 😂 but i think it’s still unfair that the others, we didn’t see their vocal or rap sessions cause what if those were really good? haha

jeffavenue

possibly! i think it’ll depend on who’s left on finale night and how that group’s chemistry is.

jeffavenue

then i’m even more mad if it’s ONLY 24 hours and they’re expecting perfection 😭

hayun lee

about your picks in the beginning, i feel like it needs to be explained that a big reason why people arent including jay in their picks is because hes in the middle of a lot of... controversy surrounding his whole discord server and his friend group regarding racism, transphobia, homophobia, and abusive relationships. i dont really feel like arguing here on whether he did or didnt do certain things, but yeah. we all know he can sing but most of us kept saying we'd switch him out because of our personal discomfort with him. also, gang (the song) is a meme. LMAO. h1ghr music made a remix of it for fun, but the original song by rain became a meme for how funny the lyrics, sound, and choreography was. and... rain is the person who made keita's group, ciipher, that's why keita was cracking up. 😭

tamkan

im definitely checking out ciipher after this... keita has been impressive since the first episode!!!

Strawberry_177

I'm sad to say this but a lot of the big trainees are kind of disappointing to me? Like I don't really get what Jiwoong has offered up until now to deserve to always rank 3-5 while trainees like Ricky, Jongwoo, Seungwhan and more have showcased a lot of talent and eagerness to improve even more. Like I get why Hanbin Zhanghao and Keita appeal in terms of talent but some others are just... not that good to me.

Strawberry_177

Also here's my top 6: 1. Zhanghao 2. Keita 3. Hanbin 4. Ricky 5. Gunwook 6. Taerae (+ Park Hanbin, Haruto, Na Kamden)

hayun lee

i feel like the standards for what people want in idols is different from what it used to be. back in produce season 1 and 2 people wanted a group with balanced roles and talent was still considered really important, which is why for example kim jaehwan made it into wanna one solely for his singing ability, or how kang sira shot up the ranks by 50 or so places after the position battle in season 1. now kpop fans generally prioritize physical appearance since lack of talent can be covered up by a good enough song or concept. thats why matthew and keita get hate for being short, kim gyuvin won first this round (kfans at the venue all talked about how good looking and tall he is in person), and hui is extremely unpopular with younger fans since he's 29 but older kpop fans, esp those who were fans of the early produce series, like him because he's talented.

jinkichimchim

I wouldn’t like livestream for the finally too 💜

jinkichimchim

It’s very brave to me to accuse someone in such things without any proof and spread the information as well. That kind of rumours can change someone’s life forever I definitely would be careful with it.

Eurone

I totally agree with this but some people are too sensitive to have this discussion so I've always refrained myself to mention this topic. It's not like he's bad or anything, I just hate how mnet "used" him as the 'sexy guy' and it just feels like his persona in the show revolves around that aspect and I'm pretty sure he's aware of it, he has so much more to show but he's kinda stuck in this image because "we" label him as that. When the mentor said that they got high ranking because of their personality/looks and not their skills I couldn't help but be happy that my opinion was kinda validated by a professional, at the end of the day it's a popularity contest. A lot of my faves are not in the top9 (Ricky, Seunghwan, Haruto), they're still pretty high but I feel bad because they deserve more.

jinkichimchim

And I never get that thing his friend is bad so is him ? Some of my friends are homophobic and I support any orientation whole heartedly, I can’t change their views because they were raised in a very conservative household, but that doesn’t mean I’m like them too. It’s not fair honestly:/ it’s sad :(

Candice Blair

After seeing Zoom, I voted for the whole group.

Irving

Honestly when I first watch the performances on the ep I wasn't sure about it but then I watched the full cams and realized it was the cuts.. like now I love every performance so far, even more than the last round. my favorites so far are zoom and love killa, for some reason I felt like this episodes there were a lot more cuts than usual... And about the voting, I'm honestly rotating votes cuz I just can't narrow it down to 6 people lol. but My top 4 is still the same, matthew, Jay, seunghwan and yedam.

hayun lee

i'm a trans lesbian. if you want to go rant about how certain forms of oppression is understandable and you're still friends with people who spread that shit then don't do it under my comment lmfao.

pikachu

MNET announced they would be releasing all fancams next week after ep7, which is basically a day before voting closes.

Violet Joo

My top 6 are: 1. S Hanbin 2. Matthew 3. Zang Hao 4. Youn Jung Wo 5. Park Gun Wook 6. Hoe Taek. I also like Keita, Wumuti and Gyu Vin for the debut group. But my voting is different. Hanbin I always vote for him (i was tricked with JR on produce 101 so... I will vote for Hanbin). Gun wook, Tae Re, Wumuti, Jung Wo. Ye Dam. This line up is my voting top 6.

Amanda Bernström

my current top 6 im voting for is Sung Hanbin, Zhang hao, Jiwoong, Matthew, Ricky and Anthonny

Moa

jeff just note that the rap+dance groups do not sing the singing parts of the songs live in the performances

soel

agree so much with you about the mid evaluations!! they edited it so weirdly and we barely saw anything too... sometimes i really question how much they can evaluate them when they've only had so little time to practice...

Anonymous

i dont know why i even keep coming back to these survival shows i always end up liking more trainees than i can realistically actually vote for and then i always get upset when i start seeing people go but time after time i keep coming back like a little masochist. also !! so happy to hear your thoughts on the midterm evals for the love killa team bc i found it equally kinda grating. i get that with survival shows, especially mnet ones, a midterm eval is great for pushing a bit of a struggle arc for groups and giving them a storyline during the episode, but it does get irritating when we have no clue how far along a group is when theyre getting evaluated. it's also particularly grating when a lot of the comments from the mentors (that they show us at least, again, with the edit no one really knows the extent of these sessions) don't seem constructive at all and feel like they're being made solely to push an arc. truly i would never survive on one of these shows becaus if i was in one of those evals i'd start arguing back (i am also not a performer at all which is probably the more pressing issue 😭)

Anonymous

also !! this part is solely from memory so it may be off the mark but from what i remember from produce 48 and girls planet, i dont remember the criticisms made during the evals being that grating. to be fair, i feel like the mentors were barely there on girls planet, but pd48 i definitely remember them being harsh but mostly constructive during the evaluations (i might have forgotten a lot tho, it has been a While since that show). like, the mentors have made some comments on this show that feel... almost useless in actually helping the trainees improve and i dont remember ever really seeing in produce 48 ? this is truly getting into conspiracy theory territory but it does feel odd seeing how almost needlessly harsh the mentors can be on this show and i wonder if it feels different because the trainees on this show are male? take this with a grain of salt, im mainly a girl group enjoyer so i didn't really watch the male produce seasons so i don't have that to reference for this comparison but it generally just feels like the way they evaluate the female trainees feels a lot more helpful in the long run than how they treat the trainees on this show. of course im sure a lot of this comes down on the edit, but it does make the evaluation scenes feel a lot more off putting, which is a shame because those are the times where we actually see the mentors performing their roles and it would be nice if they could showcase more of the actual mentoring instead of just choosing to show the parts that help push a storyline across

candle!

idk if its just me...but the site that youre watching on doesnt really have the most accurate subtitles and they actually miss out on a lot of what some trainees/mentors are saying😓 i wouldnt say its extremely inaccurate...maybe about 80%? I think Viu is a better option if you want to have a better idea of whats being said in the show!

candle!

also! i was wondering why dont you react to the full cam performances after you've finished the episode? it would be great if we could get your evaluation of the stage without the cuts as well😄

mochisung

my current top6 are zhang hao, haruto, wang zi hao, seungeon, matthew, shanbin ( additional 5picks wud be taerae, keita, phanbin, ricky, yunseo, istg why cant they just have 11 members instead)

Anonymous

For me, I don’t actually have a top 6. My top picks are jongwoo, gunwook, sung hanbin and jiwoong.

Melissa O

We have the same top 6. I really want all 6 of these to make it, but to me, Zhang Hao needs to be there and he needs to be leader. So If I had to pick a 1 pick today, I’d also probably pick him. But I’d also cry if Mattbin doesn’t make it. So the top 3 especially…

Andreeeea

I’d cry so much if they didn’t make it. I need more mattbin interactions..

Shishka

Recommend checking out full cams of the performances on yt, the cuts in the show are just waaaay too annoying and destroy the flow of any performance :(. Heard somewhere that vocal parts within rap+dance teams are prerecorded, like when you were surprised in Zoom for good singing. Makes sense as they are supposed to make their own rap and choreo, not focus on singing. With your take on midterm evaluation being harsh, I get it and agree + editing timeframes gives us no indication how far they should have progressed. However, I can understand the harshness a little bit - idol world seems to be absolutely brutal. If you dont have mental resistance of criticism (even sometimes too hard or unwarranted) then you should not be getting into this profession. Im not saying its right that the world/audiences can throw whatever shit that will stick but thats just how it is. I prefer softer characters to either harden up to be able to resist the bullshit (thats why im overall against debuting minors) or not go into this career because nobody will coddle them. Im a Matthew bias too and its interesting to hear your take on his vocals because I thought they were great (then again Im an amateur with music). I especially like him kinda challenging himself with various genres. For example Jiwoong is great but hes just manly dude to me. I cant really see a possible variety with him but Im okay with being surprised. We only saw Vocal and Rap for Tomboy because they are in "vocal and rap" performance :D. They do not have to add any dancing. Im mad the original song voting was only open for one day, mnet app kept crashing zzz. I know you dont like spoilers but I would advise you to look at previews for next weeks performances (or Im sure mnet will prerelease fancams soon) since voting ends one day after 2nd batch of performances, giving advantage to those aired in this episode. Ofc only if you are unsure about voting. My current top 5: Shanbin, Matthew, Keita, Gunwook, Zhang Hao. Last vote goes on whoever I feel like supporting that day, might be between Hui, Seunghwan, Jongwoo or Haruto.

MD

This ep had some of my favourite performances in it! I have to be honest though - even after watching the full cam version of love killa i don't see how gyuvin was the best of the four - I though the other 3 embodied the expressions and dance better i guess you never know how the live is. This ep made me happy because it allowed some of the lower ranks to really shine in their performances! I hope haruto & Seo eun get to move up!!

elise

My top 6 right now : 1) Wumuti You know it already I think, I don't even need to say it at some point. He is well balanced in everything (Solid vocalist if not one of the best to me in BP if only he could shine more and so stable maybe because he got so many experience from all the survival show he was in / Dance very well and can rap if he have to, even if it's not his forte since he is more on the vocal side), great as a leader (I do think he might have ended up leader if Keita wasn't on the team), he is really attentive with his teamates (example : him giving advice to Hyunbeen and talking with him, comforting Hanbin on the stairs). I feel like since MNET doesn't let him shine that much (or I know some people have a weird hate against him), people who mostly vote for him are people who followed him on SUPER IDOL/UNDER19, followed what he did before + his cover. 2 ) Keita It's so funny, seem like I really like people who are All Rounder or at least well balanced. One of the best rapper of this show, he can also sing that's one more point for him and his dance is great as well. Great presence on stage, just like Wumuti I feel like he have a great leadership. 3 ) Chen Kuan Jui I can't wait for his performance next week. Mostly here because the dancing skill is 10/10, HE SOLD ME. No because his dance is totally my style also his singing doesn't seem that bad neither from what I heard with his audition and KTL. Also he have such a great personnality, here the fact he took care of Junseo who wasn't confident. 4 ) Lee Seunghwan Wumuti and Seunghwan come as a package to me, one doesn't go without the others. Seunghwan also showed great leadership and the fact he is also well balanced in singing/dancing/rapping. Also his stage presence is something else to me, from both of his stage he did on BP, he is one of the trainee that carry. 5 ) Haruto Like Keita, I think Haruto is one of the best rapper in this show also one of my favorite and an amazing dancer. Also, his personnality is just soooo great? It's caught me, he is such a moodmaker and an energic bean. 6 ) Dongyeol I mostly vote for him because I know him since UP10TION (their album debut is one of my first album actually). He isn't one of the best singer to me but he is really capable, his singing is still great and he is a good dancer, he would have got the part in MAN IN LOVE if he didn't have a crack honestly (because to me, he suit the song the best). One of my other top pick was actually Hwanhee (he was higher than Dongyeol in my pick) but since he left....it's suck, he was my pick when it's come to another vocalist if we don't count Wumuti, since I really love his voice. It's so sad he left and didn't get to shine after KTL. SO EPISODE COMMENTARY : Minhyuk the hottie and YOU'RE RIGHT. Get to see him and BTOB during MIK FESTIVAL in Paris, dammm in reality he is even more beautiful than behind the screen. That man did a whole ass flip during the performance, got me shock, also fanservice king I can tell you. I'm glad the K VS G ended but I wish it would have ended sooner, honestly it's suck because it also eliminated so many good global trainees done dirty by MNET. I feel like they could have differenciate BOYS PLANET from PRODUCE in another way, like for example as much as GIRLS PLANET cell system was ass for voting, it was better with the cell system because everyone was mixed. So many girlypop in BOYS PLANET honestlyyy between ShuaiBo, Woonggi, Zhangao, Hanbin, Cong (if you didn't watch any Cong pre debut video, you should, mister was doing waacking, dancing in heel, you wouldn't know by watching him on here) , Wumuti (especially when he was young), Chen Kuan Jin When GANG was announced, I did the same face as the trainees helpppp. I'm glad they took H1GHR version at least. Keita face, I know he thought of Rain when he saw that and I heard that Junhyeon was also in RAIN COMPANY too at some point (man escaped im glad since Rain suck at managing groups) understable that he really didn't want it 😂 When you push someone, maybe it's because you don't want to work with them but i feel like, all the trainees have differente reason. There are a lot of strategies you can have, you can push the person you think will have more point (Not the best thinking but still a strategy), push someone because the others trainees are more close to you and maybe you think you will work better with them, or you do it just randomly etc. There are so many reasonnn. Honestly seeing team ZOOM, I thank Krystian for pushing Wumuti. (Still funny to me how he ended up in the same team after 😂) Muti is more a vocalist than a rapper but I feel like he could go to any categories without worry seeing all his experience Woonggi is so funny, didn't matter to be push, he had another girlsgroup song he could go that's the most important. MNET trying to evil edit Ma Jing Xiang and Ricky but FAILED, Chinese contestant are never safe with those edit, i can't breath. It's okay to learn on their own especially since Sungmin was helping Takuto the other way. It's help to go faster after. Nobody bought that edit thankfully even Knetz. Mingyu VS the other trainee is killing me, they need to mix the volume between the two of them to get it right. It's so funny how every contestant were shocked with Mingyu loud voice. Honestly it's bother me how MNET portray Ichan, he isn't even bad, they cut him of the screen when he was doing Mirotic adlibs during audition (maybe the best part of this audition actually) and use him failing to do his part in DANGER when he was just sick. He is such a good producer and singer, his covers prove it, it's sad to see. For the pancard at concert, I think the one they have, are just fine since it's only little one. For MIK FESTIVAL, I had some banner similar, it's good if you don't put them high. The worse are the big one that people usually make in cardboard and put it so high you can't see shit. FOR THE PERFORMANCES : If I rank my favorites = ZOOM TEAM > GANG > LOVE KILLA > HOME GANG TEAM : They did so great with a song like this honestly, I was so afraid of the result but it turned out so good. Both Junhyeon and Seunghwan caught my eyes on this one, Seunghwan gagged me I wasn't ready for this when he started. I don't like this song but they made me love it. I love how serious it was but also the little part with Junhyeon silliness. Really impressed by the choreography Junhyeon made when at first he wasn't that confident ZOOM TEAM : THAT'S MY AVENGER TEAM RIGHT HERE WITH 3 OF MY PICKS I don't think Keita was alone arranging it, I think it's the team as a whole but his part was wrote by him for sure since rappers have to write their rap however it seem like it's a lot of teamwork mostly since people pointed out that zoom team's individual rap verses began with the last word of the person who rapped before them, they had to consult each other in order to do that. I wish they had show more behind of ZOOM TEAM to see how they created the whole performance. Usually they also have producer/people to make the arrangement behind and they give their idea also receive advices etc (from what I remember of GP999). Personally loved the stage since the start, actually this stage is in repeat since Thursday and I can't stop watching it. In my opinion, each members shined and I love this so muchhh, like you said everyone had their own color and that make it so good to me. I also like how Ollie added his ollie wonka agenda "oops nevermind ollie wonka's gotta go" (that you can see in his PR) same for Wumuti with his iconic "Wumuti tititi" line (FEARNOT president and his antifragile agenda) that was such a genius move to shine especially when you see everyone reaction. Haruto and Keita showing that they are two of the best rapper of BP hands down especially Keita rap is so good in this, also Wumuti high note "LIVE CAMERA ACTION BABY" following by Haruto dance section is a whole 10/10, killing everything. By the way, they were actually the last group performing that day, so seeing how loud the crowd was, it's crazy I know some of my friends who didn't like ZOOM were afraid and actually they ended up loving this stage HOME TEAM ; The editing was terriiblleee, thankfully they release everything without cut at the end because there is no way you can give an opinion with just this. Jongwoo is it? Hands down the best here, it's suck Knetz come at him for his visual right now, i don't know why they care more about visual than talents. He is such a good dancer, his idea were so good, I love the opening and the ending of the dance, opening the home and then closing it. Even if Seungeon did a mistake he isn't that bad, he is definitely my second favorite, I love his voice. However, I didn't get the same feeling as when I listened to HOME sang by SEVENTEEN, a bit of feeling was missing. In my ranking of the performance, they mostly ended up last because LOVE KILLA have less mistake I think? LOVE KILLA ; I would have actually given the highest vote to Seowon. He is actually the one who caught my eyes in this performance, crazy to think when I didn't get his hype for AJU NICE and I didn't pay that much attention to him before. I think he suited the song the most, he kind of reminded me of Minhyuk in some way (?) and I don't think his voice was too sweet for this. Matthew also did really good with the vocal aspect, Gyuvin unfortunately didn't catch my eyes at all just during his kick otherwise that's it (?) but he did a great job with the choreography still, Jiwoong suit the concept and his dance was really good but that doesn't leave too much impression on me

The strategy that you are using it for voting it was the same strategy that I used for girls planet 999 but I was shocked at the last episode as for the final it will be only "one pick" to vote for, the ranking was just shocking as its wasn't the same usual ranking that I thought they are in the "safe side". that's why I don't like this way of voting they started with multiple voting and suddenly in last episode its just one vote!!. I can understand why they do this it's just to have an unexpected final for the viewers but STILL I don't like it LOL. I hope in the final they announce a new way and fair voting for both G and K not same as what happened in girls planet 999. *note : weak english. >.<

Hi Jeff, have you seen this? https://youtu.be/sLtCYwnpWn4 Maybe you can do reaction to this boys planet content <3

vega

Thanks for the reaction I think there is a little confusion for the choregraphing and producing part of the missions. They do keep the original dances and arrangements but they are some parts (mostly break for the dance) where they have to choregraph. So when they asked Gyuvin to show the break it was because it was is task to choregraph it, it's not all the song. You can see it in zoom with haruto's acrobatics for exemple. Gang is a song by Rain it's really popular because it's considered so bad it's good and it became a meme and then H1gher music a big k hip hop label (PH1 is in it so maybe that's why it's here) did a remix ( the one they used). Next week Limousine will be performed. It's a song from Show Me The Money by Be'o feat Mino of Winner. Be'o is the rising star of 2022 and Limousine was a big hit. It's funny that the trainees doing it are all in G group and don't really understand the song. They said they will rewrite the lyrics about their life as trainee but it's already exactly the message that Be'o was talking about since he was a trainee too in the past. My top 6 right now is : Sung hanbin, jiwoong, lee hoetaek, woongi, zhang hao, Ricky

Hey Jeff, if you haven’t, you should definitely search up Sung Hanbin’s dancing on YouTube. He’s such a versatile dancer that I would say he’s the best dancer in boys planet. Here’s a really good compilation of his dancing before boys planet: https://youtu.be/rOhqaQPi6pc

Just here to say did you see when they walked in before the live performances into the audience Hanbin and Matthew were holding hands??? My heart 😭😂 and totally agree with you on the evaluation part. It’s very obvious that they always show the groups “struggle” and then have a completely different performance so I always take those with a grain of salt anyways. Just another way of adding “drama” as per usual 😅

So, one thing I've noticed from watching produce + planets, is (and the editing does NOT convey this clearly at all), is that the behind the scenes training-with-judges clips are not always from the midpoint evaluations. We are often shown clips from vocal and dance TRAINING, and that's why trainees are only expected to showcase one aspect. Not entirely sure but I think those are usually pre midpoint evaluations. During the midpoint evals, trainees are expected to sing while dancing. I think that's why you sometimes get such different reactions from judges re the trainees preparedness. If vocal training is on day 1, they'll give more slack, but by midpoints they expect that you've got both aspects down and it's detailing that needs to be done. But well, mnet editing just cares about drama, not cohesiveness or fair comparisons between groups so....

I try to steer away from survival show because I tend to grow way too attached to too many trainees. But I somehow always get sucked in to them. I already have like a top 15 at this point and I feel like I added 5 more this episode alone. Like, I don't know how I never noticed Kum Jun-hyeon until this episode and now I want to vote for him even though I have so so many other trainees I want to vote for and don't want to drop. My current Top 9 is: 1. Jay 2. Chen Kuanjui 3. Sung Hanbin 4. Seok Matthew 5. Zhang Hao 6. Ricky 7. Haruto 8. Wumuti 9. Kim Jiwoong But I also really like Keita, Park Hanbin, Park Gunwook, Yoon Jongwoo, and Krystian

Tabea

the last days of voting I voted for Haruto, Taerae, Junhyeon, Gunwook, Jongwoo and Park Hanbin to keep them save and either establish their spot in top9 or push them up there. My Top 9 ranking tho is 1) Zhanghao 2) Sung Hanbin 3) Taerae 4) Jiwoong 5) Gunwook 6) Matthew 7) Jongwoo 8) Junhyeon and 9) both Park Hanbin and Keita... can't choose between them. I wish it wasn't limited to nine people. I completely agree with what you said that there hasn't been any survival show before this with such a great collection of trainees. There's probably about 30 who I find both likeable and talented and will support, whether they debut with bep1er or not, and that's crazy in a positive way (except that it makes eliminations and the finale very stressful haha)

INA

idk so hard but my top 9 for now are kim jiwoong, zhanghao, keita, jay, gunwook, junhyeon, jongwoo, gyuvin, kuanjui

Maddie Ash

to be honest i felt for junseo when they were distributing butterfly’s parts, he tried to be confident and audition but they said he had to freestyle and dance battle to try and get the parts, which he would obviously lose. personally i think they should of learn a little of the choreo and each done the same move instead, considering they wouldn’t be free styling on the stage and it would all be choreographed.

Maddie Ash

also my top 9 for now are sung hanbin, jiwoong, zhang hao, yujin, gyuvin, matthew (because all 6 are pretty much set to debut), taerae, lee jeonghyeon, and seunghwan - taerae would be main vocal, jeonghyeon main rapper and then seunghwan is an all rounder

nghn

where's ep7 jeff 😭 are you busy this weekend

kpoppie

i think he is busy, didnt he say he was going to the philippines?

nghn

kpoppie

i thought he was going this month, ig he's just busy in general

Mahima

When are you going to upload ep 7 🥲

I love the part of the choreography that Gyuvin did, my top 9 is really confusing and changes every day, but I have my holy trinity that is Gyuvin, SHanbin and Zhanghao, if they debut I am happy, since I saw who I liked and of the 28 that there are now I like 23 Jsjsjdjsjjsjjs

GreenDragon

I had every intention of voting for my fellow Canadian until the end, but then JongWoo stole my heart. It's very conflicting, but he completely destroyed my bias for Matthew.

Kamila Yussupova

I’m rewatching my fav stages now, and it reminds me of how mad I was with the judges' comments and criticism during the mid evaluations. I appreciate you bringing this up as it reassures me that I'm not alone in feeling that way.
