Second half of the performances! I didnt end up recording the elimination and thank god I didn't cause apparently it wasn't the full thing lol.

So after all the performances, which ones are your favourite?

Comments

Amanda Bernström

My top 9 right now without particular order is Sung Hanbin Jiwoong Zhang Hao Matthew Anthonny Ricky Jianyu Gunwook Jongwoo

Isabelle reffas

The line up for Backdoor K was definitely my favorite and Jay of course. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

Anonymous

Faves - K & G Kill This Love, K & G Love Me Right, K Back Door Who I’m Voting For (random order) - Gunwook [he gon make me act up lol], Hui, Matthew, Sung Hanbin, Jiwoong [he needs to calm down lol], Zhang Hao, Lee Yedam, Jay, & Keita PS - I need Mnet to get rid of the ridiculous K vs G concept. I want all of them to work together now.

melina malfoy

my top 9 rigth now : lee hoe taek , park gun wook ,park han bin , seok matthew , sung hanbin ,, keita , lee da eul , kim ji woong , na kamden

Soff

My top 9 rn is hanbin, hui, Matthew, jay, gunwook, zhang hao, keita, park han bin and haruto

eve_ss

Just a little fun fact: So I just found out JI YUN SEO is actually a cousin of TWICE's NAYEON 😳 Just funny how there's a lot of memes going on about the trainees being a relative of some idols but this is the only real one 😂

Soff

Imo for the love me right teams K was definitely more balanced throughout with their talents as opposed to G where the only ones that stood out to me were Jay, Haruto and Wumuti. I think Jay was definitely a better fit for the overall vibe and Hui killed it too so tbh both of them were winners to me but yeah I definitely expected Jay to get more votes cause he was amazing. I think the fact that they’ve made the G vs K rivalry so big has led the fans there to vote for the K groups more overall because of their pride in their Korean trainees. I hope that they will get rid of the ridiculous system they’ve created because at the end the members will come together as one team either way. I want to see the G and K trainees sharing a stage not just both separately

eve_ss

Just to share, OLLIE from HOT SAUCE G-team only got no stars by default because he was not able to do the evaluation for their Signal song as he was sick that time. Very unfortunate. He's really talented. Glad that he's now doing better.

Irving

My favorite performances were love me right by global team (still mad about jay and haruto having such few votes...), KTL by global team and back door k team. Also about that f livestream thank god you didn't watched it lol, I stayed up late at 1am, for them to reveal only one trainee and cut the live lmao mnet is so.... anyways Ig we will see what happens next episode

FlowerPower

I agree. Cause it Korean vs. Multi-national, but the stages are evaluated by Korean audiences. so... yeah. stupid concept.

Jana Bcles

The concept is so stupid to me 😅 they shouldve just done an overall group vs group type of battle or something but one or two of the contestants saving the whole group is ridiculous imo because some of them did not deserve the extra 10 thousand points 🤷🏻‍♀️ and some of the point differences were just not right 😬 but we know how this goes. We’ll be lucky to get maybe 3 foreign members in the final line up 😂

Mari

My fav performance was definitely back door by k team - all of them did so well individually but were still in harmony with the rest of the group. Felt like watching a already debuted team like you said! I’ve watched all their individual fancams so many times already lmao. Also Mnet is already getting on my nerves with the overediting and stuff but the freaking livestream today was the cherry on top - tell me why I got up early at 7am only to be clowned?!

Jana Bcles

Right! Just like the whole GP999 K-C-J cell concept. They made such a big deal out of it in the beginning just to turn around and have 3 foreign members 😅 but yeah with some individuals it was clear that the audience voted for the K contestant just because…

Dan

You couldn’t notice Jiwoong until he showed his abs because that was his first part and screentime in that song🥹😂😂

mac

Completely agree with your opinion on the LMR performance. K's was clean but I enjoyed G's a lot more, too, although some of the vocals were a bit off. Jay's voice for that song was just hitting different for me. At this point I feel like Mnet's keeping the G vs K concept just to prevent this final lineup from having too many G members. 😓 I sacrificed my K-picks this week just to vote for more from G 💔

Jet3

I think Yujin really got lucky to be in the back door team because it was filled with all the talented hyungs, so they didn't really have a lot issues with the trainings. In a way, it gave them time to really help Yujin and Yujin was more motivated to perform well just like the hyungs in that way as well. Like everyone was so amazing in that group. Even the vocalists! I mean they danced and jumped around, but still Yunseo and Taerae sounded amazing. Even Yujin was so good! Which speaks volume on how Jiwoong chose his team members. Like this guy knows what he's doing. Omg this team is just so perfect! I'm super glad we got to see them again later!

Nathan

I also really liked Love Me Right G team better. The vibe was just more present. BUT I feel like people keep forgetting and getting their hopes up when they were against HUI a well-established idol who probably had lots of fans who went to see him specifically AND Hanbin who was the show's CENTER and the consecutive 1st position holder. Like. There was no competition. And I feel bad saying that because G team has literally most of my picks/trainees I like. But against HUI? They were set up lol

jeffavenue

i think when we get to position challenge (if there’s any) jay would get the recognition he deserves. there’s really not enough main vocalist material on this show and he’s proven that he’s miles ready

jeffavenue

i heard gp999 got rid of the vs thing after the second mission, might be the case for this one too 😭

jeffavenue

the announcement post was so epic too and then that’s all they did? idk whether to laugh or cry lolll they probably figured no one might watch ep 5 cause it would’ve been redundant

jeffavenue

ya i hate it too 🥲 i think the concept is gonna stick tho cause without it, it’s pretty much just produce and we all know how people feel about that 🫢

jeffavenue

that makes so much sense 😂 even in the rehearsals he had no screen time. would’ve been cool to see him work on the flips

jeffavenue

i have several trainees from g group but i couldn’t risk my k favorites cause we might all collectively do the same and then some of them drop off - kinda like what happened with sunwoo on i-land. he was consistently ranking high and then come finale and he almost didn’t make it cause everyone thought he was safe 😭

juls

Ive already seen the nct dream edits your talking about 😭 i also agree with the jay haruto vote counts!! I loved the vibe haruto brought very mark lee of him. As for Jay im not upset that Hui won but the difference really shocked me they both have amazing vocals i thought it was gonna be a closer match in votes. I cant help but think that some votes were very biased…

Melissa O

To me the only surprise was that G group won a battle at all. Before a single note was sang I fully expect these massively screwed to K group results. Simply because these battles were not voted for by a diverse audience. It a fully Korean audience with about 15 foreigners sprinkled in. I actually laughed when they did an edit of the audience standing outside to come in and made a point of showing the foreigners. Those were probably literally the only ones they could find in the whole crowd of 600-700 people 😂. I’m not mad about it. MNet can try sell that the voting is fair all day long. I’m just simply saying it isn’t. Maybe for the cut offs as those are web based, but definitely not for the bonus points and additional privileges from this round. But this is K-Pop, they are forming a group to be stationed in Korea, so at the end of the day, you could argue it’s perfectly fair as it really isn’t about, or for, “us” really no matter how many G contestants make it to the final group. All that being said… the only 2 I really really really want to make it are Sung Hanbin and Matthew. The other 7 I can wish wash between like 12 others 😂. I’m sure I will be both extremely happy and super sad on final night. It’s going to be an amazing group whoever makes it. SO much talent here. Looking forward to seeing what their other assignments will be 😁.

jinkichimchim

Inadmissible doubts about love me right but after I watched YouTube version k group was waaaay better overall

Jana Bcles

Well GP999 got rid of their K-J-C cell system after a couple of episodes so here’s to wishful thinking 🤞🏼I better see Matthew and Hanbin perform together soon 🤣

2023-04-25 07:57:58 My bias are Haruto & Gun Wook but after watching all of theperformances, I’m adding Jongwoo to the list!!! 😂 He’s like (to me) SF9 Chani my bias & bias wrecker SKZ Changbin like he’s crazy. I’m so happy they got chosen for M Countdown!!!! Also so deceiving for star creators to not pick Haruto as best rapper because they liked him during the interim check 😒🤔

I used to be in a dance group and it's incredibly interesting how the moment I start thinking about something happening in this episode, you talk about it from the same point of view. It happened basically every time a major talking point came up lol. ESPECIALLY the way more... let's say assertive leaders are portrayed in the show. I think a lot of fans tend to fall way too easily into this helicopter parent mindset and are thus very easily manipulated by these "evil edits". It's totally normal to have talks about positioning or execution of moves and have different opinions about it. I'm sure if mnet wanted to, they would somehow be able to evil edit Sung Hanbin by adding dramatic music and adding scenes of team members staring emptily at a nearby wall. Also it's interesting to me how Krystian constantly gets "evil edited" to be this assertive, masculine, aggressive (in their minds) leading presence in the team and the biggest criticism the dance master has is that he appears too weak or feminine (which I again agree with you 100% that these should not have any association between them whatsoever). It's like they're trying to project the worst qualities of both gender roles onto him. Favourites I feel like are pretty easy to pick out. KTL G-group, Love me right both groups and Backdoor K-group. KTL K-group I was really rooting for since Gunwook is such an interesting contestant in the way he had everything figured out by the time he was picked, but the performance fell flat vocally sadly. Their dancing was great and powerful though. Also I believe mnet is taking kep1er's mediocre success as a sign to manipulate the group to be mostly k-group with this k vs g group battle stuff. They knew g group will suffer heavily from the first elimination round alone. Thinking about it a bit mathematically and logically: K-fans have no real incentive to ever vote for g group unless g group outshines k group by A LOT (like with KTL). When both groups are about equal however, the vast majority will vote for k group. Global fans tend to be pretty equally split regarding k vs g group contestants. Most people I've seen have around 50% g and 50% k group favourites. So take let's say on the average "equally as good" or "equally as bad" performances 85% of koreans voting for k group, 50% of global fans voting for k-group and you have yourself a very skewed ratio in k-groups favour pretty much every time. This is why I believe the results to be what they are. I think people said that the whole g vs k thing will be abandoned starting next episode though so let's see. Anyways, really amazing reaction and already looking forward to the rest of the series!

jeffavenue

I'm always so happy when fellow dancers watch my reactions and tell me that they experienced or had the same thought. cause it's been awhile since I performed (pre pandemic) and sometimes I feel imposter syndrome LOL. about krystian, with every narrative and story, there's a villain. if we look at every group's rehearsals, there's always a villain and a hero. but I think mnet decided they also need an overall villain for the entire show and somehow they placed that title on krystian seemingly because he is very vocal in a "blunt" way. it's gonna be very unfortunate if behind the scenes, he's well liked by the other trainees. I have some friends who thinks hes just a dick but I think it's just the way he talks is very straight forward. it's similar to like a "resting bitch face" lol I dont think he means it to be rude, it just comes off like that. in these cases we need to listen to the context. they were quite harmless as I've mentioned in the video. totally agree with your k vs g assessment. hopefully they drop it soon because theyre all gonna be colleagues in the end anyway.

Mado

Love your reactions and analysis! I have never been so invested in a survival show like I am with Boys Planet lol. My favorite performances were G team' KTL and K Group' Back Door. Love Me Right performances were also really great but somehow they were not much memorable for me (maybe song is not my type). I only remember Jay's part and drama with what Hui' gonna do with his part. The whole K vs G assessment is so frustrating for me cause all my faves are from G group: Matthew, Zhang Hao, Jay, Haruto. I also love Hanbin and Hui but they have so much screen time so I am less worried about them. And finally, I am so impressed with Park Hanbin and they way he trained his team. At this point, he along with Zhang Hao and Keita should be mentors.

Matt Vesliño

i also mostly agree with a lot of your opinions (as usual)! i'm not a dancer, but i understand what it takes to lead and kinda be the mediator in group settings and i think evil editing is really doing its job here; i feel like most if not all of the conflicts in this episode felt normal and even almost usual outside of the bp context. i'd say krystian might just be super blunt / not used to working in grps though, since last episode it was also an issue where he just began communicating in a language kamden didn't understand, and i just found that plain rude with or without the evil editing lol - i highkey fell in love with park hanbin in this episode because of how tight he ran that hot sauce ship!! i might start switching some people around in my personal voting and have him in there because he really ate that. the whole team was so much better because of his leadership + it def helped that him (and jihoo) carried that performance vocally~ - my current picks for voting are probably (in no particular order): - k-group: park hanbin, sung hanbin, kim jiwoong, ji yunseo - g-group: chen kuan jui, haruto, keita, wang zi hao, zhang hao i'm only leaving hui out of my voting because tbh he doesn't need my help, i'm sure he'll be there at the very end anyway, so i'd kinda prefer to distribute my votes to my other faves. both hanbins just have such a strong presence imo, and are practically aces in terms of performance (imo). jiwoong can easily hold his own as well, and yunseo is a great vocalist to have. that said, i'm considering also leaving sung hanbin out for the duration of the competition until the end because again, i'm also sure he'll be there anyway but GOD i think i'm in love (as a fellow 01 liner) like oH NAUR!!! i'm considering swapping him out with like any of the following: - kum jun hyeon (HILARIOUS. love his energy sm) - kim tae rae (charismatic and great vocal!) - park gun wook (embodiment of power) - lee ye dam (that love me right stage seriously sold me on him) - lee seung hwan (hard carried - and i mean HARD carried the danger group) - kim gyu vin (i'll be honest i just love his visual, but he's still v stable) as for my g-group faves, kuan jui just has that PRESENCE about him when he performs. haruto has all the swag that mark (nct) carries in his vocal timbre, and i love the way he raps and his flow is great. keita is also very consistent in all aspects. wang zi hao may be underedited but KTL was enough for me to really bump him UP there, and zhang hao. king. slay. stable vocalist. stable performer. i'm doubtful this will change (because g-group needs all the votes they can get) but depending on the editing and the screentime along the way, i might swap 1-2 of them out for: - seok matthew (our son!!! i just think he needs a tad more time to train, but he's great!! charisma and appeal for DAYS!!) or - wumuti (if he wasn't up against hanbin, i could've easily seen him get more votes!! he's great) what i unintentionally came up with for now is really a vote for a lot of potential leaders (both hanbins, jiwoong, keita, zhang hao) and basically everyone else i consider to have that skillset to round out the group (yunseo, kuan jui, haruto). i'm also mostly opting out of voting for the younger contestants (i.e. most glaringly han yujin) because i just don't think entering the industry at this age will serve them well. all in all though, boys planet has a GORILLA GRIP on my attention span and youtube algorithm. i have here i am stuck in my head. the lip j vs. hanbin waacking battle on repeat. like it's bAD for me, jeff 😭

fyi, krystian used to get bullied for being too feminine back in school. It probably triggered something in him, so that he behave like that

Anika Bhattacharya

WAS SHOCKED THAT G GROUP DIDNT WIN FOR LOVE ME RIGHT. JAYS voice gives me goos bumps every time i watch and in my opinion their group was so much more harmonious and sychronous as group for this song not hate to hui!!! just my tAKE, but BACK DOOR SMASHED IT!! CAN't wait to see them on M Countdown!

metal_craft

When you're the one who the group is looking towards to teach them, it can be an opportunity. Like in gp999 a lot of girls got a favorable edit since they taught the other members in their team like Dayeon and Bora. I think it's expected in these type of show that the more experienced/skilled trainees help out the others.

elise

I'm glad you reacted to the feminine comment, it's actually got me so annoyed, it's literally change nothing if it's more "feminime", you talked about Felix and I actually saw some STRAY KIDS fans react to this part too, they also said it was dumb since even Felix sometime does this move with more femininity. It's even worse knowing that Krystian was bullied in school because they thought he was too feminine. It's upsetting to see those kind of mindset. Honestly, I stay neutral for the Krystian situation, here i'm sure he wasn't trying to be mean or anything. One of my Chinese pick also got evil edited in GP999, fortunately she had her twin who stepped out to explain the truth otherwise the hate she could have got. I feel sorry to see how much hate he take that even his mom had to step up saying "I can't guess what the hidden intention of this program team". If you compare how he act in BP or at least how he is portrayed and the last survival he did, he isn't so hard. It's by seeing the score difference between LMR Team that you understand the problem of their K VS G Group storyline. In my opinion, Korean trainees are extremely favorised honestly that's why I hate this concept and even if they stop with it at some point, they still did it in this mission who was an important one in my opinion. So many G-GROUP trainees will be eliminated (I'm sure MNET wanted this, they must have know what they were doing there is no way) and it's a shame when some good one are in the bottom. I'm still speechless at Haruto not winning the rap, no hate to the other boy but it even annoyed me. Technically K GROUP LMR was better but I liked LMR G-GROUP better because I think they suited the song and the vibe of it way better.

Violet Joo

It may be subjective but some of the audience tweeted that the K-team's performance was so much better live. They said that it felt like a concert so it got more votes. Some performances are better live than on tv, that may be the reason k-team got a better score.

melina malfoy

honestly, i would’ve swapped yujin and seunghwan in a heartbeat. the comments people were making about him in regards to back door were disgusting and not only would seunghwan have stood out more, it would’ve been age appropriate. or, conceptually overhauling k’s ktl and i think he wouldve been great whilst putting hwanhee in k’s lmr cause the guy looks and sounds like baekhyun.
