I was so excited when I saw STAYC, glad they showed their journey in this doc !

I think the first fansign in the US was with SuperM? There was only a few in LA and I was lucky to go to one of them. It's surreal. I've been a Shawol since 2012 and I somehow luckily managed to get Taemin to sign my album. I remember sobbing and collapsing outside the store. Those fansigns/fanmeets are no joke. It was something completely new

Victoria

i have so much respect for these idols, they go through so much :(

billie27

now you have to react to stayc on your channel haha

jeffavenue

omg i’m so happy you got your signature!! i have a lucas signed poster that was given by a viewer which i’m so thankful for but i know it’s gonna be a whole new experience when it’s in person like yours!

vega

StayC debuted with so bad and just made a comeback with ASAP. They are really rising as the best rookies :)

Samantha

okay but the kpop idols reacting to fan covers, i know for a fact that jackson does, a.c.e does, wonho watches reactions to his solo stuff, and im pretty sure that ateez watches them as well! at least what ive seen/heard directly from them on lives and fansign videos and whatnot

Samantha

I'm an exo-l and as much as i would love more content and music from the members, what's more important to me is that they're happy and healthy. I think as fans we have to be aware of what we're asking for because it can often come off as selfish, and if we push too hard then the idols will come to resent their job. Exo's last group album was in 2019 and i really miss them but i hope they've been using this time to rest and spend time with their loved ones!

If you'd like more of this idk if you watched the Seventeen docuseries already but they covered a lot of this kind of stuff of fandom and being created to be performers. They even went so transparent as S.Coups talking about his mental health break and how he as a performer felt developing that level of literal breaking in him. I found it both healing as someone who struggles with the same types of mental health concerns as well as enlightening to see as a Carat.

I think the big companies have mental programs or something, Heechul mentioned it before, that SM have counseling rooms or programs. But i think the problem is, even if the doctors, are very sincere with helping them, the aritsts esp. a very famous ones, i feel like they feel that no one really understands them. Just imagine, Taeyeon, Hara, Jonghyun, Sulli and IU,,, these are very big stars and they are known to be in 1 friend group, it is also known that they are suffering or suffered from mental issues. They kinda turn to each other because i feel like they think these are theo nly people who could really understand them. For me, during this time, it was dark ages, these are people I look up to, these are people I love, these are people I grew up with. During that time, i felt like I was in a nightmare. For a week all I thought was, no this is just a dream I'm gonna wake up and they'll still be alive. The sadder thing is, after the multiple suicide news, netz acted like they were sorry and learnt, but after a year or few years, here we go again...its like nothing happened. At some points, agancies doesn't really have a choice if the artists themselves didn't want to take action. Just like for IU, she used to not do anything, but she came to a point that she just decided to be strict about it.

when you said about criticism by fans immediately remembered that time 2018 and jennie... like she was having a panic attacks and for interviews she said some scary things like i wanna disappear those kinda things and for concerts she was not very passionately performing and it was for three or two times but the hate she got after that..... there was a lot of videos of her being and called "lazy" and unprofessional and these videos got like 6 or 7 million views its was very huge hate i know maybe it's unprofessional but these guys just spit their poison every single minute im blink and my bias is jennie so yeah i was tryna to protect her a lot idk if she now okay but she looks more happy than in 2018.... and lately she said she was having trauma with her knee or foot(which is the reason why she can't perform that good but people was like ooh there we have idols who until loss of consciousness and FUCK WHY IT SHOULD BE NORMALIZE) but back then its was so rude and make me so angry that i still remember her maybe there still scars on her heart because of that.... idk if you and viewers got my point like English my fourth language sorry.

and thing about leeteuk story is really sad and the whole career of super junior is really heart breaking.....

Jeff, I need produce 101 ep.7 😭😭😭

XSHINeeBAP

I don’t think that they had those programs before Jonghyun death. Jonghyun went to a doctor himself but the doctor was shitty and he blamed Jonghyun and said that it was all his fault. Jonghyun wrote it in his letter and this shows that in Korea really people didn’t care about mental health at all. Jonghyun death shocked people and made them more aware about mental health especially for idols and thats when they started to care a little.

Tra Mai

lol the fact that GD invented lighstick but BIGBANG was not even in this "Kpop evolution" documentary really bugs me

LisMM

idk why they left out bigbang lol. At least they included 2ne1 🥲

jiminycricket

I think SHINee’s 2018 Japan fan meet was a sold out Tokyo Dome

Natalia Kuroś

That trainee that you remember Jeff seeing somewhere before is from Dancing High. Before that, she was in Kpop Star but she was a little kid then.

Malin Stalheim

Fanmeets and fansigns are different events. Fanmeets are concerts, often with special performances and/or segments that's not usually seen in a normal concert. For example, BTS' fanmeets are called musters. They usually perform a variety of b-sides, both old and new songs and do fun performances like the vocal line joining rap line for Ddaeng at Busan 5th muster. Fansigns are where the members sit lined up at a table and fans can get signatures/talk with them for a short amount of time.

jeffavenue

ya i actually heard about this about jennie and i wasn’t even a multi stan back then. that’s so sad :( i think also that’s why she talked about what her personality really is in the documentary. maybe to kind of address those conversations about her. she does look happier nowadays! <3 jennie!

SM also has a mental support team (it is recent though),from what I understood, older generation idols like BoA, TVXQ etc mentor the youngest idols and give them advice on how to deal with the stress anxiety etc.
