smrookies is the predebut team of sm trainees formed in 2013. they were unofficially (by fans) divided into SMROOKIES (the elder/adult members: Taeyong, Jaehyun, Yuta, Ten, Johnny and Ji Hansol and MINIROOKIES (the teenagers/smol ones) members: Mark, Jaemin, Haechan, Jeno and Jisung. SMROOKIES GIRLS which was the Red Velvet members and Aespa's Ningning but those who trained with her have left SM and aren't debuting in their new gg. Yuta, Ten and Hansol was like the dance line. Taeyong the main visual, center and rapper. Johnny the tall foreign guy with sexy voice who plays the piano. Jaehyun was the visual vocalist who can rap. More rookies were introduced too like Doyoung and Taeil in 2015. Jungwoo and Lucas in 2017. Xiaojun, Hendery and Yangyang in 2018. Hansol is like Jaemin, Mark and Jisung's favorite older bro. Hansol-Jaemin were like inseparable father and son. The ship dynamics was also crazy back then TenSol vs. YuSol vs. JohnSol vs. DoSol. He was shy, reserved yey friendly and was often target for teasing. 😂😂

Instead of Hansol leaving SM Ent, I would like to address his current situation. I wanna tell people who don't know that Hansol debuted in a 7 member boy group called Newkidd. But on the first quarter of this year, 3 members were missing including Hansol. Their agency said that the members were sick and hospitalized but it's almost the end of the year but still no update even on their personal sns accounts. I am not a fan of this group but I am concerned about the missing members. i have watched this survival show so many times because its honestly just superior to any other one. Just to let you know so you are prepared, this show is an emotional rollercoaster, you'll get attached to so many people and cry and laugh A LOT. Also, despite a.c.e being on the show they barely get any screen time, chan more than jun which is kinda sad because i wanted to see more of them. But you might be happy to know that Rayoon (the blonde mvp member) and jun stuck together on the show quite often. Jungha, the guy who can't dance actually improves a lot during the course of the show so don't rule him out just yet. Overall, be prepared because the talent is amazing and you'll cry a lot.

Hansol was one of the first batch of SMRookies introduced to the public. He was supposed to be one of NCT's main dancer and center (You'll see when you watch some of their pre-debut videos). However, at that time, NCT debut were still unknown and they already waited for years. I heard he was originally to be included in NCT China unit (WayV) that was supposed to debut earlier however it was delayed until 2019 because of Korea-China conflict. Might be the fact that he's one of the oldest (94') in SMRookies, and so when he got the offer from another company for an earlier debut, he decided to leave. I'm guessing if he didn't debut earlier he would then need to enlist in military? I'm not quite sure tho. (although I don't see any reason for SM to not debut him since he's one of their ace if only maybe he waited a little more?) But yeah, that long wait and uncertainty of debut should be the reason why he left. Additionally, after he left, he was actually still featured in one of Lay's MV and became Taemin's concert back-up dancer so it seems that he left in good terms with SM.

Blonde in MVP = Rayoon Other blonde you liked the look of is Ungjae from Imfact (the audition right before Onewe) MVP and A.C.E debuted 2 months apart so it makes sense the 2 groups chose to team up for their mission. Btw I actually have a copy of a spreadsheet that has all the teams for next week with the members + their group if you want it to be able to help pick out/remember the people who catch your eye.

Se yeon, Jun from Ukiss, Timoteo and Casper are my favorites from this show. I like Se yeon's performances, especially with song from 2pm,he's amazing. He might look very strict but he is kind person. And I like Jun. Cuz he is all rounder and sweetheart. But if I'm not mistaken he stopped being an idol. I think he's just an actor right now. I highly recommend watching his dramas, especially where he plays the villain. And I like Casper because of his personality, such a funny guy. For MAS/Onewe: The one you thought looked the most idol-like is the guitarist Kanghyun (even more handsome now btw) The one you said seemed vibrant and who made you laugh is Oneus Xion's fraternal twin Dongmyeong (vocalist/keyboard). He was on Produce 101 S2 with some of Oneus before this but got injured early on and didn't make it past the 1st round of eliminations. Since you love Regulus you ABSOLUTELY MUST listen to their new single Parting! Parting is the sequel to Regulus 😊 (both written and composed by Kanghyun) I hope you can react to it, there are so few reactions to them. Brief Background: Self-formed and self-producing. Their rapper CyA has even been producing their music since he was 15 year old and has also produced for Oneus (fun fact: CyA is close highschool friends with Sunwoo from The Boyz and Sunwoo is even part of his Soundcloud crew. Since they're so busy they only have one song together so far called CaMe True) Released their 1st official song in 2015 as M.A.S 0094, 1 month before Day6 debuted (they even donated all the profits from the song and busking to charity!) Moved to RBW in 2017 before Produce 101 Re-debuted 2019 I'm still mad the show edited it to make it look like they were still an independent band without a label, because when RBW then changed their name most of their fans from the show didn't even know they debuted. There are still people only just rediscovering them now 😞

I guess they edited the girls part shorter than the boys because there wasn’t any significant beef or drama within the girls (yet) comparing to the boys. While the boys made team strategically, the girls were like “we met eyes, let’s team up” lmao. Also, they edited the boys part longer to highlight some stories like the “Avenger”, the underdogs, the band (MAS) with help from Daewon, etc. I got attached to so many boys and girls in the show lmao. Trust me, bring tissue later cuz this show is a tear jerker. I can’t believe how eager I am to watch your reaction to The Unit and to read everybody’s comments every week. It’s like I finally have people to share my feelings and thoughts about the show.

wouldn't say they're unofficially divided by fans by hyung/maknae line. It's how SM promoted them during smrookies. Hyungs almost always performs together same thing with the maknaes ( the Little TVXQ) at every smtown concert and or shows.

The unit boys and unit girls don't really have "close encounters" during the show ( that's what they said in one interview on a later episode). The girls and boys dorm are separated. They trained in separate floors and there's a rule where the boys can't go to the girls area and vice versa. Their meal time are also scheduled differently for there is only one cafeteria. They were strict coz of yeah - knetz, kbs' don't want to deal with this kind of "scandal".

Yes, Parting is such a beautiful and poetic song. Everytime I listen to it I get so emotional. Their live session on 1thek (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCotksrSfZE) just gets me everytime. Yonghoon vocals are filled with such heartfelt emotions. I hope Jeff can react to it and more Onewe/Oneus content.

The one boy that approached MAS/ONEWE and offered to teach them how to dance - he's my favorite from the show <3 He's a real angel, so pure and kind. I fell in love with Daewon on that show and because of him I started listening to his group, Madtown, after The Unit. Unfortunately, they disbanded now :( But a few of their songs are still some of my favorites in kpop.

Wow, every week I get so excited to see your reaction to The Unit ! Re-watching the show with commentary from someone in the industry is so interesting ! The informations you provide really educate me to the kind of world they (and you) live in. I just can't wait for the next episodes, because the show keeps getting better. I'm sad to tell you this but you should watch soooo attentively to see Jun from A.C.E They almost didn't give him screen time, you'll see him in performances though Gosh, it is so cool to watch it with someone, thank you. Can't wait for the next episode.

Yeah unfortunately they don't give the girls nearly as much screen time as the guys, which sucks because even as a bg stan the first time I watched the show I got way more invested in the girls. They're all so talented and have really fun personalities which I love seeing. I can't wait until you get into the actual performances, the show really starts to pick up there and it's just great to watch

PK (one of the other member in THE UNIT) responded to me and also Sion, not too long ago. PK encouraged me a lot when I was struggling with my studies. They are seriously the sweetest and I hope you can check them out Actually, it's normal you heard the name BIGFLO before. You saw Euijin quite a lot ; He was juge in Dancing High with Feeldog and did also Dance War Idk if you remember but a lot of us say to you that He was amazing when it's come to popping You say Seyong (MYNAME) was good looking but didn't recognized him, actually you already saw him before sjskkdd, he was the one in HIT THE STAGE who did the Angel's Theme You will not see the girls ans boys close too often, they put rules (in one episode it will be explain, they are separated)

Ah I see the comments haven't mentioned it yet, but just some information - the song "Boom Boom" that the two guys from A-Jax (DSP Media group) auditioned with is one of Seventeen's title tracks! I don't really know A-Jax that well but you asked where they were promoting for five years after their debut if it wasn't in Korea. Basically what happened is that by the time they debuted, they were one of the first groups to debut simultaneously in Korea and Japan, but after a while they just went radio silent (perhaps because of the fact that DSP was running into trouble, beginning to go bankrupt, having to fund the KARA project to keep KARA going towards the end of their contract, not able to take care of their other groups like Rainbow etc. + they had a CEO change towards late 00s which really hurt them because they were on par with SM and YG for 'big 3' group status at the time. A-Jax ended up quietly disbanding after this show once their contracts ran out :( So many sad stories in this industry!

Heheh I’m late to the comments party of this week but I’d watched it late at night as soon as it was posted I couldn’t stay awake to comment with the rest of the Unit Fam here XD. Wasn’t Matilda’s celebration dance so cute hahah. You just want to wiggle along in celebration. Now that this concludes the auditions…I loved that they made the auditions this long. With the number of total auditions, spreading it across so many hours still meant that many auditions were short or cut. But I think with the reboot idea, it was necessary to tell the stories of some of the contestants. They try to do it for other reality shows as well guess, but in this case I think there are more stories that the audience can connect to. The fact that almost every person who auditions for the show has a sad story or a hard time makes the background story part of the unit a lot more engaging… I think the mentors here are also generally…kinder with their words? Some reality shows have judges who just tend to dish more mean comments or are edited as such. You asked us if we would prefer the 6 boots or super boot…I think both have significance, but I think I would prefer the super boot. To be in this business it actually matters less what your peers think of you than what the consumers think of you. It is a business, and there has to be some way to monetize, and monetization won’t happen if consumers won’t buy. A big reason why many of these contestants are on the show are related to this; not enough revenue due to various issues like luck, mismanagement, group having a concept that doesn’t suit them etc. So I think this is very important. I think the girls really just got less airtime for the self-selection because they were kinda quick to group up and did it with minimal drama like someone else already mentioned. The guys were not afraid to scheme and just tell people “no I’m still looking” etc to not group up with people they didn’t want to, but like Yang Jiwon’s example, even when she had someone else she wanted to group with, the moment someone else grabbed her she didn’t try to leave. There’s a lot of funnies and sads coming up in the following episodes. Can’t wait!!

I don't really have much to say about this episode, just 1. I'm really happy that you recognised Rayoon aka the blonde guy from MVP (because that's the only time we laid our eyes on the same guy lol and I've been watching your videos for a reeeally long time) 2. Again we are on the same page, I would rather have 6 boot from mentors. I think in general it might be this: 6 boot is for those who want to prove themselves, S boot is for those people who think in money language. Both are uderstandable, and God I wish I could think about money, but I only think about skills and improvement

Okay- I love ACE - I love OneWe- but I watched the Unit for IMFACT!!! Why does no one say anything about how freaking talented these guys are?? My bois need hella more love ❤️ Their vocal line Jeup, Taeho, and Sang is angelic- and Ungjae - he produces, arranges, composes, writes and even does the artwork for IMFACT. I can’t wait till you hear them more. About Hansol, there is a reason Taemin said what he did about Hansol having his own style and feelings and that he wanted to see Hansol improve those and learn to control his feelings in a more “professional” way. To me Taemin saying that speaks volumes. I may get jumped on for this but back in SM rookie days with NCT - Hansol always struck me as arrogant and just rubbed me the wrong way. 🤷🏻‍♀️
