Jake wasn’t sure if he should have said or done anything before Ell’Hakan left. It felt as if he had given the other Chosen the floor and allowed him to say and do whatever he wanted… but that didn’t necessarily mean what Ell’Hakan had done was in his best interest.

As the saying goes, never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake.

Ell’Hakan was clearly under the impression the relationship between Jake and Villy was on thin ice. That Jake was not satisfied with him as a Patron. That, or at least he believed Jake didn’t hold any loyalty toward Villy… which he was kind of right about.

Jake didn’t hold the kind of loyalty one would expect of a Chosen toward a Patron. He held no faith, and he wouldn’t just do whatever the Viper told him to do. Ell’Hakan and Yip of Yore had already figured this out from the looks of it, making their current strategy make a lot more sense.

Eversmile is likely involved in some way, too, Jake also mentally noted, as he considered the situation more deeply.

Just as Jake was about to continue this train of thought, space behind him suddenly warped, as out stepped a familiar figure Jake had wondered where was for a good while.

”Hey-yo!” Minaga said with a huge grin. ”Missed me?”

”Can’t say I have,” the Fallen King scoffed.

”I know you did,” Minaga winked. ”Now, while I would love to just come by for pleasure, I’m actually here on business. Kind of. Allow me to just…”

With a wave of his hand, Dina, who had been with people from the Pantheon of Life, suddenly teleported over to rejoin their Nevermore party group.

”What is-” she said, clearly disorientated from just getting teleported like that.

”Congratulations!” Minaga interrupted her before she even had a chance to regain her bearings. ”Not just to Jake here, but the rest of you too.”

”Why?” Jake asked, confused, his other party members also perplexed.

”I’m so glad you asked,” the Unique Lifeform said. ”As the top dog of the All-Time Leaderboards comes one small extra reward, one only given to the best of the best, and luckily even one that can be shared with their party members.”

”What is it?” the Sword Saint also seemed curious now.

”An opportunity. Imagine all the growth you just had in the last fifty years… and now imagine doing it all over again. Another fifty years here in C-grade. The same floors again, but with the difficulty increased across the board. We call it Nevermore+, and this is truly the opportunity of a lifetime!”

”With all the Challenge Dungeons, too?” the Sword Saint asked.

”Naturally,” Minaga grinned.

”In that case… what is there even to think about?” Jake said with a smile.

”Ah, and one more thing… should you beat your record again, you can do Nevermore+2,” Minaga added on further, making Jake’s eyes open wide.

”Does that mean we could theoretically-”

”Yes,” Minaga said with excitement. ”You have the opportunity to do Nevermore, forevermore.”

And just like that, their party reentered the World Wonder from the beginning again, prepared for another 200+ chapters of Nevermore.
