Jake stared toward the sky as the spinning sphere of wind had stopped in its tracks. The ogre’s eyes opened wide as his clenching hand began to glow even brighter than before, but he couldn’t close it any more, no matter how hard he tried. Instead, the opposite happened.

The Twinhead Emperor’s fingers were forced apart as the shift happened. The sphere of wind scattered as Jake felt the atmosphere change entirely, and he saw the sky almost vibrate as the wind began to gather from all around. Jake also felt the pressure from the ogre lessen as he saw the clear look of shock on the Twin Emperor’s face.

Clouds were torn apart far up in the sky and in the horizon as more and more wind blew toward Sylphie from all over the Vast Plateau. Every single iota of environmental wind mana no longer felt as if it was just that: environmental. Instead, it had the clear aura of the hawk in the sky, who was gathering more power than Jake had ever seen her control before.

Then, everything suddenly stopped.

The wind was still, and Jake saw the Twinhead Emperor stare as Sylphie beat her wings a single time, making it move once more.

A soft wind swept down, making Jake’s clothes flap a bit as he saw the attack descend. There were no fancy colors and no real sound, as all that arrived was a stream of wind headed straight for the boss with speed rivaling Jake’s fastest arrows.

Right before it hit, Jake saw the expression of confusion and hint of fear on the Twinhead Emperor’s face.

“Authority… how can-“

Jake didn’t hear the final words as the attack arrived. A pillar of wind descended upon the Twinhead Emperor as Jake was pushed backward from from the wind that spilled over from the sides of the constant stream of wind.

While sliding back, Jake observed as the ogre got hit. Immediately, the skin of his face was cut, and he was forced to close his eyes and raise his arms to defend himself. The ogre’s arms were cut up next, skin and flesh tearing off from the sheer pressure and cutting nature of the wind. The boss tried to use some magic to summon a barrier of stone, but the mana didn’t have the slightest chance to gather before it was blown away by the constant wind.

It was like a small localized jetstream of pressured and intense air, smashing down on the boss and the boss alone. What’s more, it wasn’t stopping but rather only seemed to grow stronger. Moreover was the impressive effect on the surroundings. The wind blew harmlessly past everything, not even cutting into the ground, with the only one feeling the pressure being the ogre, whose leg and stump were already halfway forced into the ground, and the parts of his body that were hit directly by the wind stream weren’t doing good.

Bones were showing on the Twinhead Emperor’s arms, and barely any skin remained. It was death by a million cuts, as the jetstream somehow only seemed to intensify with every passing second, shearing off more and more flesh as the ogre roared.

“I… will… not… fall… alone!”the Twinhead Emperor roared loudly as his body exploded with a second wind of energy as he attempted to-

“REE!” Sylphie screeched with anger as the rising energy was smashed right back down; the stream of wind further empowered as it took on a light green glow from being infused further with Sylphie’s sylphian concepts.

With a new desperate roar, the boss tried to reach out toward his staff, only to find Jake holding onto it with a vice grip and a few chains of stable arcane mana. For a moment, Jake saw the Twinhead Ogre open an eye and glare toward him in anger before the eye was hit by the wind, the pupil and eyeball cut apart.

The ogre’s arms fell limply to his side soon after, no longer protecting him as the wind bore down fully on his face and body; his entire face getting sheared off as his torso began to suffer the same treatment, the second head that had belonged to the warrior already unrecognizable.

It didn’t come as a surprise when Jake heard the system messages a second later as the seemingly impossible to finally put down boss finally succumbed to his countless injuries.

*You have slain [Twinhead Emperor – lvl 335] – Bonus experience earned for killing an enemy above your level*

*’DING!’ Class: [Arcane Hunter of Horizon’s Edge] has reached level 288 - Stat points allocated, +50 Free Points*

*’DING!’ Class: [Arcane Hunter of Horizon’s Edge] has reached level 289 - Stat points allocated, +50 Free Points*

*’DING!’ Race: [Human (C)] has reached level 275 - Stat points allocated, +45 Free Points*

Even after the boss died, the wind didn’t stop as the Twinhead Emperor’s energy left his body, leaving it defenseless as the wind had a field day. Only a few seconds later did Sylphie stop as the jet stream subsided, and Jake felt the atmospheric wind return to normal, as the little hawk no longer exerted control.

All that was left of the Twinhead Emperor was a ruined corpse, with half of its flesh sheared right off the bones, with even these bones covered in thousands of small cuts. A dozen or so meters off to the side, Jake saw a door had popped into existence, the one leading to the next city floor, making it clear the floor was now complete.

Looking up, Jake saw Sylphie descend, just gliding on the wind slowly. Without any hesitation, Jake flew up to her as he felt just how exhausted she was. It was not as if Jake was in peak condition himself, but from the looks of it, Sylphie was in an even worse state.

Once he reached her, he let the small hawk glide into his arms as he caught her. Sylphie was covered in wounds all over and even missed a lot of her feathers, making Jake’s heart hurt as he gave her a light squeeze.

“Ree?” Sylphie let out a low screech as she looked up at him.

Jake shook his head in response. “No, just relieved you’re okay.”

Floating down, Jake went toward the wooden dome. On the way, he saw the sheer devastation their battle had wrought, as it looked like a natural disaster had hit the Vast Plateau. It wasn’t unexpected, considering it was a fight between powerful C-grades, but Jake still felt this one had been particularly rough… and it had definitely been a close call toward the end.

As Jake and Sylphie approached the wooden dome, it soon began to unravel. Once it did, Jake laid eyes on the Sword Saint leaning against a rock while the Fallen King sat on the ground, not able to stand easily due to the lack of an arm and a leg. Dina was the one who looked the best, but Jake knew her resources were quite spent. Who knew that healing wounds inflicted by intense death energy would be difficult?

Well, Jake did. That’s why he liked to use it in his poisons. But Dina definitely also knew.

“Good job, team,” Jake said as he saw them, flashing a smile. “You all look like shit.”

“All the hair on the left side of your head is burnt off,” the Sword Saint shot back, having recovered quite a lot from Dina’s healing while in the dome, though it was clear the old man wasn’t going to be fighting any time soon, as he looked barely able to lift a sword.

“I never argued I am not also in the category of people currently looking like shit,” Jake grinned as he sat down with Sylphie, all of them taking a rest as no one talked for a moment. He reflected on the fight as he scratched Sylphie somewhere she wasn’t injured, the bird happy using the space between his legs as a nest.

There were definitely things that could have gone better, and they had probably not prepared enough or spent enough time learning about the skills of the Twinhead Emperor before they chose to fight him. If they had had a small bout with each of the Twin Emperors individually, they would have learned quite a lot, Jake reckoned. But they hadn’t. Partly because they were pressured for time and partly because they had overestimated themselves a bit.

In many areas, they also got lucky, and Jake estimated there had been a good chance one of them would have had to use their escape tokens if just one small thing had gone wrong. Luckily, it hadn’t, and when things did look like they were about to take a turn for the worse, Sylphie had come through as she had done… something. Jake still didn’t know exactly what that something was, and he wasn’t going to begin interrogating her here and now.

“I would set up a restoration circle, but…” Dina muttered as she frowned.

“Relax, dryad. There is no rush, so simply relax and recover,” the Fallen King said.

“Yeah,” Jake said with a reassuring smile. “Everyone, just chug a potion when you can, I still got plenty.”

The others nodded as they all relaxed for the next hour, barely any words being exchanged during this time as most meditated. Everyone had consumed a potion at some point during the fight, Jake himself taking his after the solo fight to buy time when the warrior head had taken full control.

As they rested, Jake also decided to finally check out the system messages he had received upon completing the floor… and things were a lot better than expected.

Eightieth floor completed. 16,000 Nevermore Points earned.

Bonus Objective Completed: Do not allow a single party member to be slain during the battle. 30,000 Nevermore Points Earned.

Grand Achievement earned: Slay the Twinhead Emperor after fully allowing the two Twin Emperors to merge in an exemplary manner, thus ending the conflict of the Vast Plateau for good. 100,000 Nevermore Points earned. Due to completing a Grand Achievement, you will receive a 10% multiplier of all Nevermore Points at the final calculation.

First of all, that was a lot of Nevermore Points. Secondly, getting another 10% multiplier had not at all been expected. The only other event boss they had gotten a percentage bonus for was when they beat Minaga, and that had been a 25% multiplier. Jake did kind of feel like the Minaga reward had been a bit too much, but then again, that fight had been a lot harder overall.

Checking his Nevermore Points, Jake saw he had finally broken the two million mark and then some.

Current Nevermore Points: 2,120,950

Besides the Nevermore Points that he and the others had just gotten, the rest of the floor had only rewarded 21,000 more, coming from a few bonus objectives and achievements. This was a lot less than on other floors, but that was to be expected. It had been very similar on floor seventy-five and the event boss there. All of the achievements and objectives more or less got boiled into doing the event, resulting in just getting a whole bunch of points from that alone.

Time passed, and with potions and Dina eventually setting up a restoration circle, they all quickly began to recover. The backlashes from boosting skills and overusing certain skills – such as the Sword Saint’s Transcendence – would take a while longer to shake off, but after only a few hours, they could all move about just fine. Jake even had all his hair back.

The door leading to the city floor was not far away, but they weren’t going to enter it yet… because while it would be nice to head there right away to relax on the city floor, they all knew there wouldn’t actually be any relaxation going on, at least not mentally.

While the fighting was most certainly finished, there was still a bit of politics left to go and some important decisions to be made. One of which was to figure out the order of who they believed would end up with the most Nevermore Points, so they could have those with less fully finish Nevermore first.

This was all for the Leaderboards… because during this time in the World Wonder, they had confirmed how the rewards worked, and Jake did think parts of it were a bit dumb. But, to make a quick summary, it mattered a lot when someone got on the Leaderboards… because just holding a spot for a mere moment would reward one the same as if they held it for thousands of years. There were potential rewards if one held a spot for the rest of the era, but all of that was way too far off for Jake to even think about.

Anyway, this all meant that their plan was to finish Nevermore one after another, having each person finish faster using time dilation… with Jake naturally being the last to go because, to the surprise of no one, he would definitely end up with the highest final evaluation. At least from their group… though Jake hoped he would just be the highest. Period.

But he had a feeling there were quite a few people who wouldn’t like that much.

--

Ell’Hakan nodded, satisfied that they had managed to accomplish their goal, and just in time, too. The large beast lay dead before them, with the others now scattered, having lost their will to fight after their leader had died, ending the life of the final of the Mad Beast Kings.

A door appeared not far away as he turned to his party members while skimming the floor completion notice.

Eighty-second floor completed. 16,400 Nevermore Points earned.

Completing these two last floors had been done quickly, with little regard to bonus objectives or achievements, but the Nevermore Points gained had still been more than worth it. It was a bit sad they did not encounter more opportunities for Grand Achievements because the one from floor eighty had most certainly been a welcome addition.

Grand Achievement earned: Make the Twin Emperors fully merge once more and bring harmony to their Path as the Twinhead Emperor, ending the conflict of the Vast Plateau for good. 80,000 Nevermore Points earned. Due to completing a Grand Achievement, you will receive a 10% multiplier of all Nevermore Points at the final calculation.

It had taken quite a bit of… Bloodline Therapy to get the two halves of one whole to agree on things and merge once more, but it hadn’t been something he couldn’t handle. Ell’hakan just felt fortunate he didn’t have to fight that monster, as he doubted they could have beaten the Twinhead Emperor without having to resort to things he would prefer to avoid, and even then, it wasn’t an assured victory.

In fact, he doubted many could beat that boss… but he did see the party of the Malefic’s Chosen doing it. They had a lot of trump cards to throw in, and Ell’hakan knew not to underestimate the hidden cards of someone who had managed to not only fight but defeat the absolute monster that had been Valdemar’s image in the Colosseum of Mortals.

“We must hurry and finish before too many others have a chance to do so before us,” the Saintess of the Holy Church reminded him as she stood with his two remaining party members, one of their comrades sadly having fallen during this final floor.

Ell’Hakan regarded the Saintess before nodding and walking the door with her. She had been far more helpful than he had ever expected, truly earning her recognition as one of the ten most talented C-grades of this generation in the Holy Church. He most certainly did not regret the deal he had struck to get her and the Church as a whole on board to support him.

To allow the Holy Church to obtain his Bloodline was but a small price to pay for their cooperation. Ah, but nothing would happen with the Saintess; Ell’Hakan wouldn’t want too much to do with her after Nevermore if he could avoid it. He liked people he could influence, and absolute fanatics were quite difficult to sway in any way. He was also fully aware she had no positive feelings toward him and had her own Path to walk.

Anyway, his decision to enter talks with the Holy Church had been quite a good decision if he said so himself, especially when one considered the further implications of their deal… because to obtain his Bloodline, he naturally had to be alive, and for the best results, they wanted him to get as strong as possible before he would pass on the Bloodline.

This naturally meant they had a vested interest in keeping him alive, earning him quite a good ally… and a backup plan in case the winds of change did not favor his current Patron and Yip of Yore failed his grand plan.

Pushing down these thoughts and focusing on the present, he walked through the door to the city floor, Ell’Hakan refocusing and straightening his back. Soon, it would be time for his final score and placement on the Leaderboards to be revealed, and needless to say, he was more than confident in his placement… and not just on the two publicly known Leaderboards, but the third hidden one.

The All-Star Leaderboards.

Boss fight part 5

Cameron Yourell

Thanks for the chapter. I'm looking forward to seeing how the nevermore arc ends.

Anonymous

How does he know Jake beat Valdemar?

Jana

Thanks for not landing us on a cliff. I meant, do I want the Leaderboard? Hell yes! But it’ll take at least a chapter, followed by a final God reaction chapter - so I consider this an excellent pre Weekend breakpoint. Thanks :-)

Matthew Avery

Gods snitching from hearing it in the viewing room, or just from Yip being allies with Valdemars' faction?

Michael Fannon

WE REACHED THE END!!!! Also, setting up the cliff for the leaderboards like that on a Friday... well done.

Nick Nicholson

I think my favorite chapter in this whole series will be Ell’Hakan getting killed.

Zizawah

Valdemar let other primordials know and I’m sure they shared or was overheard which led to at least Saintess knowing by way of Holy Mother

Joshua Morris

Because all of the God's at Nevermore know and the Holy church probably told him at some point or a spy for Yip managed to pass it through a intermediate.

Mike

dear and double drat! i was hoping to see El’Hakon get that smug smile wiped off his face today. TFTC tho

Anonymous

TFTC, a lot of typos and errors in the first couple paragraphs, but overall good story. I can't wait for the leaderboards to be known. I'm also ready for the new arc after this! See what all this growth has done out in the world!

martin smith

The wind was still, and Jake saw the Twinhead Emperor stare as Sylphie "beat her wings a single (time), making it move once more. A soft wind swept down, making Jake’s clothes flaw(flap) a bit as he saw the attack descend". A couple of possible corrections in brackets above

Sam Rosenberg

All star boards!!! Can’t wait

Ryan Ulrich

I get it, death affinity wounds are hard to heal :p

Rardac

I'm sure Yip keeps him informed of any major plot points, just like The Viper reaches out to Jake from time-to-time. Also remember that he snuck in to the primordial viewing party.

BerciTheBeast

I hope Jake's team exits before cheeto so he gets nothing.

Cory Sauls

Thank you for the chapter!

Burkes

Okay let’s get this over with.

TSMS

Jake should be well ahead of Ell'Hakan, right? They got 20k more points for defeating the Twin Headed Emperor almost offsetting the points from the two additional floors (without bonus objectives) and he has better multipliers. Maybe the Sword Saint can exit before EH and snipe a good position for the bonus rewards. He should have a decent shot at temporary #1 for the 93rd universe leaderboard. Most other outstanding individuals are from older universes and can only compete for a spot on the 93rd era leaderboard, right? Only EH and people from earth are 93rd universe natives (that we know of)?

Ivo Wißen

That is a good question question So the wyrm must have bend the rules so yip could talk too EH Like he did for villy and jake a

Anonymous

How does Cheeto know Jake killed Valdemar? Jake never talked to anyone after the challenge dungeons right? Holy mother playing games, or did Minaga whisper it in his ear to fuck with him?

Crysus

How does El‘Hakan know that Jake defeated Valdemars image in the colosseum?

Alexikon

The Friday Clif buildup is real.

Mrburns93

He has a that priestess of the holy mother. She was probably told and relayed the message after all the holy mother is in the theater with the other primordials watching. It may have even been an incentive the holy mother used to strike that deal after all ell Hakan is like an auger without the restrictive class. The holy mother would probably offer quite a lot for his bloodline, information on Jake would be a cheap price to pay

Collin Rarig

Better be number 1

Anonymous

Looking forward to see Jake smash those records!

Mrburns93

Loved this chapter. And ell Hakan beating 2 more levels will give him a significant advantage in the leader board. I hope Jake has done enough

Karim Saadi

Next week is gonna be amazing

Bent Sommer

I really hope Zorgath isnt playing us dirty with the leaderboard 😱 i would be absolutley devasted if EH gets #1

Julian Lienenbecker

Holy that was a streched Boss fight. Happy for sylphy tho and a Hope the Leaderboards chap. Wont Take 10 chapter

Martín Ballesteros Arias

I really hope Ell'Hakan gets lower scores than at least a couple of others, not just Jake, and I really really hope that Jake's team all finish before he gets his placement, that way he will never get the top reward

Omar Jimenez

Fantastic finish by Sylphie! Would love to see the Primordial viewing club’s reaction to this development next week. Weird how the Leaderboards seem to work, but hey, that just means everyone gets some loot. We know Sylphie and the Fallen King both got 45% multipiers from the challenge dungeons, Jake got 105% and the Dina got 70%. Don’t think we saw the Sword Saint’s total, though. Also, we know the team had a 35% multiplier before the challenge dungeons and they just got another 10%. All that accounted for, I think the exit order is going to be Fallen King, Sylphie, Dina, Sword Saint, Jake.

Arrogant Savant

Ell' Hakan more like L' Hakan whilst Jake gathered his allies with his own abilities Cheeto had to whore himself out to other factions.

Valhazstromoz

Ugh the church better not freaking rescue Cheeto at the last second

Xarow

It would be nice but won’t happen. SS has already on previous floors been slowing their ‘experienced time’ which will mean they can progress in Nevermore for longer than Cheeto. He was probably already out on the city floor before they even fought that final boss.

Lewke

Curious about this as well. Jake deliberately didn’t share his challenge dungeon performance outside of his party. Eversmile was at the viewing party so he could have spilled it but Villy was limited on what info he could give Jake when they talked.

William WIlson

Personality I think eh exits first and is the first spot contestant, he did make it further than anyone else we know about. His problem being that he took the easy route the entire way threw. So I'd love to see he come out have the number 1 spot start to brag and then Jake's team exits. I'd love to see them all take ehs top spots but unfortunately I think only Jake and the Sword Saint would actually replace him maybe Dina. Sylphie and the Fallen King just don't have a high enough multiplier however they still should be on the leader board.

Yaldabaoth

..... wait.... it's a Friday cliff hanger!? 😳😱 Noiooooooooooooooooo!? I should have known it was going to be this way!?😭🤣

Xarow

Just some possible corrections. ‘Sylphie beat her wings a single, making —> single time, making ‘Jake’s clothes flaw a bit’ —> clothes flap a bit ‘Jake was sent skirting backward’ —> sent skating backward. Not sure about the last one but the next sentence uses sliding so skating looked to be the intended choice.

MrCynical

Not necessarily. We just saw that Jake's team got a cumulative 16+30+100k from actually fighting and winning against the twin headed ogre. Because EH didn't fight his party likely only got the 16k floor completion and they got 80k instead 100k. So they are 50k points down there and we just learned they only got 16.4k from the 82nd floor. Double that to include the 81st floor and Jake's team still up approximately 20k.

Lewke

Jake’s party got 50k more from the event, 20k for killing the boss and an extra 30k for doing it without anyone dying.

William WIlson

He did 2 more levels yes but he did everything the simplest way possible. We get a view of this in this chapter. Jake and company literally out scored eh by such a margin on floor 80 that floor 82 doesn't really matter. I also think this was the case for basically every single floor. Eh wouldn't have fought miniaga because eh would have talked to the Demon Lord to defeat him causing him to lose out on points.

Owen Kaz

That's the best part, they won't lol. Villy has likely called in a minor favor here. It's not a betrayal of the bloodline accords since Villy just wants him somewhere Jake can kill him instead of hiding, and the Church is gonna try and get his bloodline before he bites an arrow.

TSMS

Good point. The bonus objective was tied to the fight, so EH's team didn't have a chance to claim the 30k.

William WIlson

I think most of the blessed know. Mainly due to the Primordial viewing party. However I doubt Yip told him but the Holy Mother.

Clint

Leaderboards, here we come!

Ryan Ulrich

Valdemar is ‘allied’ with Yip and probably got drunk and let the beans slip because he was excited about it

KenTX325

I had thought EH and other teams had entered after them. Also, will levels earned factor into the equation for final score? Thought that was a thing keeping early C grades from leveling.

William WIlson

Yip didn't sneak into the Primordial viewing party that was ever smile and villy assuming he had proxies.

Psyren1596

Damn cliff hanger!

Hayden Leech

There is information exchange with the outside world in city floors. Infact you can leave nevermore altogether and come back later if you want. As long as it’s within your allotted time window.

Johannes Puschmann

My guess is, Jake and his team can't be overall first. So there will be a compromise, Jake gets first or the team, but not both.

TKOva

I have a feeling EH will be #2 or 3. But the rest of his team are going to be overshadowed just as Jake is gonna shit all over Cheeto.

TKOva

He only got 20k or so points cause he rushed the last 2 floors.

joel southard

Nice thank you for the chapter

Hodge Wasson

I am soooo hoping that Jake and Co. clock block Ell'Haken and crew from getting on the leaderboard by submitting before they get out.

Justus Saucedo

They did, during the minaga city level where they had to craft EH got ahead of him

TSMS

Time is weird in Nevermore. Earlier floors are less time dilated than later ones, so the further you get, the less (real) time you need. e.g. person A is stuck on floor 1 for 50 years and person B is stuck on floor 50 for 50 years. Let's say on floor 1 time moves 2 times as fast and on floor 50 time moves 20 times as fast. Then A would spend 25 years of outside time in Nevermore and B only 2.5 years. On top of that there are skills that can affect personal time as well. It makes it impossible to tell who comes out first. As for levels... I think levels also give points, but we don't know how many.

Jay tolley

I think EH entered first because he was there when they got to Nevermore and the SS and Jake went to confront him. They did enter the first floor before he did so guess it depends when the timer started.

Decibel790

Tftc! Looking forward to the leaderboards.

Michael Mckenzie

After 200 chapters in NM imagine if Jake came 2nd, i mean talk about subverting expectations, would feel fucking shit tho lol

Kenneth Dennis

This is literally the worst Friday cliff.....not because of anything Zog did....but because i thought it was freaking Thursday. NOOOOOOOO!

SmokeJam

Monday is gonna be number crunch day, get your calculators ready xD or Zog will troll us with a reaction chapter first... If Jake doesn't get all star first place at least for era 93 I'm gonna bite my phone. I don't believe in 1st place for the whole team, but they gotta be up there

SmokeJam

If Jake doesn't get first I'm gonna start questioning everything. With every glimpse of other participants we got, Jake was always slightly better overall. Would be hella weird if he suddenly turns in 2nd

SmokeJam

People stayed differently on city floors, especially minagas which EH cheated and Jake+ company took 9 months or so.

Chioke Nelson

"wind was still, and Jake saw the Twinhead Emperor stare as Sylphie beat her wings a single, making it move once more." Edit option: "wind was still, and Jake saw the Twinhead Emperor stare as Sylphie beat her wings a single time, making it move once more." "making Jake’s clothes flaw a bit" Edit "making Jake’s clothes flap a bit"

SmokeJam

Skirting is a different form of movement than skating and skating just sounds bad in a novel, and simply the wrong word here. Skitting would work instead

TSMS

It would be really funny, if the first five spots on the leaderboards were all Minaga.

Anonymous

there were lots of gods at the meet up and Valdemar mentioned it then

Seiryus

It's easy to bring information from outside, since people CAN leave Nevermore during the delve. It's just that the clock continues ticking, but for someone who has no chance to compete on the leaderboards, it's probably better to leave and get info and supplies. That, or the Wyrmgod allowed communication with Yip at some point as well.

Lawrence Dillon

The records tied to earth are going to be insane jakes faction is going to produce some monsters in the future

Jason Hardman

Not a fan of the church gaining more abilities to manipulate people to align with their faith.

Marvin bennett

Wait you die permanently in there?

Jeff McCulley

It would be way, way awesome if Sylpie just happened to exit before Ell’Hakan—and had more points, so he wasn’t in first even for a moment.

Anthony Smith

What do we think nature's attendant will gift Jake for partying up with Dina? I'm thinking he assists in separating FK and Jakes soul.

Micah Molina

By the time Jake got to the Challenge Dungeons floor, 70, EH was over a year ahead of them time wise. But Jake had a slight point advantage. Also, Jake got 2 more 25% achievements, meaning he gained at least 30k more points on floor 70, plus 10%. Considering EH lost another party member prior to floor 82, it was most likely floor 80, since they didn't fill the empty spot because they're the fastest team. Which means they didn't get the 30k bonus for keeping everyone alive. If true, then EH was 60k behind Jake after floor 80. He would need to have gotten about 145k points from floors 81 and 82. Unless he got hidden bonus achievements to make up the 10% somewhere.

Jeff McCulley

One member first so Ell’Hakan never sees the top spot. Then him getting to see all of the others pile on top of him.

Allan

Wait, Minaga could definitely absolutely troll the Nevermore leaderboards. Couldn’t he still send clones inside and with the divine minds, absolutely wreck others?

Lewke

Now I’m wondering if there are hidden bonuses for completing Nevermore through certain thresholds with the same party and no one dying. Similar to some of the “with no one dying” bonus objectives. We’ve seen other leaderboard contenders having people die and/or switching up their team composition while Team Sylphie stayed the same.

Allan

The leaderboard works base on soul time, so they could use SS’ time dilation expertise to make it so that they could enter in the correct order.

Jeff McCulley

I’d rather see him come out…and find he’s already #2. Behind Sylphie. So he never gets the top spot bonus, and is second to a bird. Then FK, Sword Saint and Dina are added on top. With Jake the coup de grace.

Micah Molina

Lmao. That was great! L'Hakan!! Tbf, it's pretty smart on his part, EH is making plans for IF his patron loses. Which kind of means he thinks Yip is going to get his ass kicked by Villy, or at least hedging his bets. Still hedging is not something you do if your confident.

Jeff McCulley

Jake’s party should be way, way ahead. The 80’th was hardly the only floor Ell’Hakan cheated on and got fewer points.

Jeff McCulley

Also, “skitter”, not “skirt”. The latter as movement has to do with circling an area.

Jordan

Did I miss something, for Ell'Haken is on the 82nd floor but Jake and Co are on the 80th but both parties faced the same boss. I thought the boss would be on the same floor for all parties, and doesn't this mean Jake's team is down two floors worth of points for when the final score is tallied.

Micah Molina

That would be awesome. Unfortunately EH does have around the same points as Jake, if not slightly more (before percent multiplier), so I think only the monk from Eron's group can come close. Unless it's someone that hasn't been introduced story wise. Ofc, if it's the ladder the chances SS or Dina getting in the top 10 also gets lower. But I'd really like to see that. Maybe end up with 3rd, I could totally see that!

KenTX325

I think the thing that will shock people is the number in the top 20 from earth.

Hunter Thornton

Ok Slyphie is no longer cute. She’s fuckin terrifyin. And the holy church is full of scumbags. Who’d have guessed that?

KenTX325

It is 50 years from when you enter Nevermore not when you pass the Manga city floor. I understand he passed them at that floor. The only thing that could change is if the time compression changes when your on a lower floor.

Anonymous

They faced the same boss on floor 80, Ell hack finished floor 82 and is reflecting on the grand achievement from 80

Anonymous

He had faced "the mad beast" on floor 82, but was reflecting on the boss on 80 afterwards.

Micah Molina

So I hope Jake has the highest score and that he manages to get on the Leaderboard before EH. BUT, what I want to see in this scenario, is Miranda pov when it happens. Lmao. She went to Nevermore for her "vacation" to get away from work and Jake stuff. Imagine, how she's gonna feel when Jake hits number 1 while she's trying to chill, lol.

CaptainFlowers

Ell'Haken fought a different boss on 82. In 80, he managed to convince the Emperor's to merge using his Bloodline. Just read his section, its right there lol

Tommy

Well if we look at the points, Jake got 146000 from floor 80 and 10% multiplier. EH got 80k and 10% multiplier. Then we see he got what, 16400 from 82? Probably less from 81, but we can say 16400 again to be safe, so 32800 from the two extra floors he did. So 112800 total, which is less than Jake got for floor 80. All the other floors being equal and taking into account Jake’s extra multipliers…. Jake should win I think

Vega

That Twin Emperors Grand Achievement was a side thought from Ell Haken while he was reminiscing about what he accomplished on the 80th floor. Just to let the readers understand how Ell Haken performed relative to Jake.

Anonymous

I would think his team as a whole will not come first. Especially considering the lack of multipliers from challenge dungeons Sylphie and the Fallen King got

Anonymous

Minaga is from a past age and his truesoul is not c grade. He couldn’t be on the leaderboards at this point. Even if he could’ve done so in the past, the wyrmgod and nevermore would have patched out that exploit.

Anonymous

I kinda want Jake to leave in first place but then get bumped to second by some unknown prodigy that he can encounter in b-grade or so and have as a rival similar to valdemar and villy rather than the bloodfeud he has with the cheeto. Otherwise, make him first and stay there for the rest of the era.

Xarow

I agree but I am not sure about either as a word choice and just that is stuck out while reading and needed me to reread it. I only suggested skating as the next sentence used the word sliding which fits visually with skating and was maybe an auto change by the pc. I would happily not read any ‘sk’ word choices in this context. ‘dashing’ or ‘dodging’ although run of the mill just gives you a plain visual you need. This is too much discussion about this though :P

Scout Mills

Personally I think subverting expectations is vastly overrated, it seems that most the time the thing done to subvert expectations just ends up making for a shitty story

Mat

That’s a interesting idea. I expect the gift to be something like Minaga gift in the challenge dungeon. Though it will benefit Jake somehow it will also cement a relationship with the life pantheon. Since the King specializes in soul magic out of his golden magic, I think the separation is his personal point of significant growth in soul magic

Xarow

They will be banking on resurrecting him even if he dies. When it comes to Jake having his showdown though Villy will ensure he goes in with the right tool to ensure he stays down. Just my thoughts.

Raghav S

Man I don’t want to wait until Monday for the next chapter

Abhishek

Zog, my man, can you please do a dump release of chapters with all the results :)

Chrisbirdie

Na no way Sylphie has more points than ellhakan. The only one who needs to enter the leaderboard before ellhakan is jake, for everyone else it doesnt matter since their challenge scores where to low

Chrisbirdie

Once again the Primordial of Cliffhangers strikes again

Nate Fowler

They probably can by using the sword saint’s time magic to get out extra early.

Xarow

That is the only reason he has a job there! The wyrm god got fed up with him sending in C grade clones and trolling it all. Had to strike a bargain about sticking some maze in or other…

Erik Leiden

Lots of talk in these comments about a Team Leaderboard - is that a thing? I don't recall

Mat

@Tommy EH only lost a party member on floor 82 so most likely also got the 30k bonus objective point on floor 80. So he should still be 12k points ahead for assuming every thing is the same below 80. I expect Jake to have more points as the team was at the top stop before the challenge dungeons with EH ahead of them.

Micah Molina

I too, wonder if their are overall performance rewards. Completely agree, that staying with the same party while all surviving should be one of them, if they exist. If the multiverse performance acknowledges preparedness, then choosing a team prior to doing the first floor, while also succeeding, should be a possible reward. Ofc, that's IF their are overall rewards to begin with. Id imagine, if there are, EH and team will get one for doing the most floors. But the team one should be weighted more since it's higher difficulty, as even EH lost 2 members. This would also help Team Jake members having a better shot at making top 10, even if it's bottom half.

Nate Fowler

EH lost someone on floor 82. He didn’t fight the bonus boss on floor 80. Assuming Jake’s score multiplier is %15 more than EH, then EH would need %15 * 2,120,950 or 318,142 more NP than Jake. Considering EH only got 16,000 NP from floor 82 and that he did worse than Jake in the challenge dungeons, he is most definitely a large Margin behind Jake.

Xarow

Please tell me on Monday that SS doing time tampering means the party including Jake leave in order before Ell’Hakan?! They get the rewards and titles and he gets it snatched from his teeth. All the Primordials reactions to that scenario would be priceless!

Mat

Interesting takes 1. Yip’s narrative expects Jake to change sides yet guess who is prepared to jump ship when shits hits the fan(current Patron🧐) 2. With Jake following Villy’s advise of not leaving one you have sown bad karma with alive, I bet Jake will power shot EH even if he is in the Holy Mother’s dress. Unless Villy is to own Jake a favor. 3. Jacob’s visit to earth could be trouble ending with Jake chasing him away like the myriad event showed.

Micah Molina

Not as far as we know. I see people wondering if their is an achievement for doing well while staying in the same party and surviving all throughout Nevermore. As far as we know though, their are only 3 Leaderboards. 1. new Universe top 10. 2. Multiverse top 10. 3. All-star.

Hoid

I’m new when does chapters get released? Is there a set schedule?

Anonymous

Is my math right? Minaga’s fight - 25% Twinhead Emperor - 10% Witch (Chapter 725) - 5% Challenge Dungeons - 105% Total Multiplier - 145% NVM Pts (Multiplier) 2,120,950 (2.45) = 5,196,327.5 I thought there was another 5% multiplier somewhere but I couldn’t find it.

Micah Molina

Right there with you! Usually people that do narrative-spin, are the ones guilty of what they spout. Just look at EH's home world, thanks to William, he's guilty of what he's accusing Jake of. Also I had the same inclination as you. Jacob's phrasing of "when the Prima Guardian arrives" looks suspect. Why not when Nevermore's over? I'm thinking the higher-ups plan to use Jacob to help EH mess with Earth or Jake. If that's the case, hopefully he finally grows a pair. From the tutorial, Jacob always allows himself to be used for others to mess with Jake.

TSMS

I don't think so. The only leaderboards we have seen are for the current era and for the newly integrated universe. And there supposedly* are all-time-leaderboards that are not publicly accessible and can be only viewed if you score high enough (*I guess it is confirmed by now that they still exist, because they are referenced multiple times).

Anonymous

Every week day morning welcome to the world of weekend cliffhangers lol

Bobby B

Next week will be all leaderboards and god viewing wrap ups. Lots to look forward to after Nevermore. LET’S GO!

Dan

I've personally loved the nevermore arc, I'm glad you didn't rush it. I'm excited to see what else you've got in store for us after Nevermore!

Mat

They is. It was just stated when they reach floor 70 as percentage they got before. So currently at 150%

Ty Cooper

Could be Jake turns Jacob into a heretic or heretic blessed. I don't think EH will be coming back to earth. Think that will happen in a different system event. A galactic battle

Mat

Jacob is the ‘for the greater good’ guy so him being a Heretic is out of the question as he sees the benefit of the Holy Church to the masses. Heretic-blessed path if exposed to the multiverse means an annoying time for Jake but frankly I don’t see Jacob having the balls to take it up.

Lonnie Sizemore

Sylphie for the win! Fantastic!

Kyle

As much as I’d love to see EH lose out like that, I don’t think Jake is all that worried about the Cheeto. I could even see Jake purposely delaying a bit once his party leaves, so that others from Earth have a chance to get better rewards before he locks in the top spot. He would know from all the bragging on the challenge dungeon floor that he should have a solid lead.

Jeff

Nah Jake will kill him and claim his body like in the altmar dungeon

Harvey Cross

Naah, Jakobs a mate and I’m fairly certain all primordials are on team dangernoodle in this, they might make moves on the surface, but no chance Jakob will betray or mess with earth

Harvey Cross

Naah there’s no one that will have higher scores than his party from earth

BB8ALREADY

Only the five challenge dungeons were where you could come back to life

Bent Sommer

Are Jakes 2mio Points with or without multipliers

Bent Sommer

So he will be at 5,3 Mio on the leaderboard if nothing more gets added on

Skyler Brown

god i hope el gets shit on with Jake coming out milliseconds before him

Zizawah

Chapter 851 Taking stock of his Nevermore Point multiplier by now, Jake smiled. He had gained two times 5% - once from the Dark Witch, and another time during the climb – along with the 25% from Minaga’s Labyrinth. Adding on top of the now 105% from the Challenge Dungeons, Jake was sitting on a comfortable 140% Nevermore Point multiplier.

Tyler S.

NM aint over they still have a time dilation period to recover before leaving. Subverting expectations can be hard but it can be done right, not that this would be a good place to do it.

Ty Cooper

What was Yips score when he did c-grade Nevermore

Ty Cooper

I think bringing Dina was the gift. An amazing healer/defender/plant whisperer for the team

Ty Cooper

I think EH will come out first, so the crowd will be all hyped talking about how no one has a chance to beat him. Then Jake walks out demolishing EH's dreams entirely.

Anthony Smith

Oh I totally agree, natures attendant already said he would provide a gift for taking her on though.

Tyler S.

Its going to be a good week next week, so monday will be rewards and clarifying who leaves first than some good POVs Tuesday we get the confermation of current/previous era boards with those who did exceptional receiving another message to meet the all time board, then Wednesday L'hakin and Jake meet the gods again and jake punks him good. Thanks for a good week Zog

Ty Cooper

I will also find it hilarious if in trying to make Jake a heretic EH again, not knowing he is one. Starts loosing faith in Yip's plans, since they don't work, becomes a heretic. Jake just laughing getting some levels.

Anthony Smith

Nature's attendant: ”Good. I hope you two have a good time. Try to get to know each other, alright? When you return, I will be sure to give you proper compensation, but till then, I will leave her in your care,” Nature’s Attendant said. ”She may seem fragile and meek, but don’t be afraid of pushing her.”

Ty Cooper

I was confused on this part. I thought bloodlines messed up the holy brand. Like how they cannot be slaves because of soul manipulation

Devin

Noooo!!! Why stop it there??? Now I have to wait two whole days before finding out some score stuff.

Ty Cooper

I think the extra levels is just giving EH a false sense of security

Olof Karlsson

Thanks to the chapter!

Ty Cooper

I am wondering if there is a big hullabaloo after each top 10 comes out reviewing and showing the highlights from their journeys. A clip show like high school awards showing off all accomplishments. Then it would be fantastic for EH to go first. Then have Jake out shine him in every way.

hmDrake

Best birb.

Ignatius

tftc

MacMahon Wenzl

Rare, unexpected, for no reason, bonus chapter that we don't deserve but will be rewarded with?

Micah Molina

Jake locking it in doesn't really change anything for anyone else but EH. The point for them is, if you hold the number one spot even for a moment you get the title associated with it. So if EH steps out first he gets the same title as Jake even if Jake bests him. Regardless on whether if EH or Jake step out first, this has no effect on everyone else. It's just if Jake is leading, then he can cockblock EH. EH is trying to get done before Jake to ensure he gets the title even if he loses. Edit: although there is a chance for his teammates to hold the title briefly if they exit before Jake, I guess. But that's a long shot.

Allan

Yip of Yore was the 92nd Era’s pinnacle achieving the highest award on the two public leaderboards.

Micah Molina

In fact, Jake's entire party could probably get the title if they're quick enough, the more I think about it. If not the King and Slyphie, maybe the SS and Dina. So it's kind of a race to be done first.

Micah Molina

While I wasn't a fan of the Challenge Dungeons, but the things happening around them. Nevermore is in my top 5 arcs easy. I really loved the floor climb and the god interactions!!

Allan

It will probably be the FK who will separate his soul from Jake’s to claim freedom. It will also require at least a mythical rarity skill as he is doing something that can separate a soul bound connection. His race might also change too.

Allan

He made a deal to spread his bloodline to the church. Meaning he’ll leave one of his descendants there.

Micah Molina

The heretic- chosen shroud Jake got as an option a while back, makes me think Jake helping fellow heretics out in the future is possible. I actually though EH was going to be a salvaged ally, but after William showed us his home world, EH really messed up his own people. They basically have no future, level wise, with the damaged done to them.

Allan

I still don’t really comprehend, if what you’re saying is true. Then every variation of Minaga will have a divine grade true soul, which I’d don’t think is possible. From what I understand, his skill can create clones with separate true souls making them all entities separate and unique, where the only thing that connects them is the mind.

Micah Molina

Part of me scoffs at the idea but then I think Minaga would totally do it. And the Gods would eat it up just as the Mortals since they love the drama. Lol Jake would totally hate it.

Micah Molina

Someone was asking about the significance of Jake or EH getting the top spot first. A thought occurred to me, if Jake and team are quick enough, their is a chance some if not all could get the title by exiting before Jake. That would be a good consolation prize for his team even if they don't get/stay on the leaderboards when all the other participants finish.

Martín Ballesteros Arias

Jake would die of shame when lord of hunger comes out, cause we all know Minaga would definitely put that up there, and the Viper would be all in hahahahaha

Martín Ballesteros Arias

I know that not all others from his team would easily get the top spot from EH, but maybe after Jake's team gets out, the Dao team follows and then Jake takes the top for it to never be taken again

Micah Molina

I'm not sure how Zogarth is gong to treat EH, the ideal would be for Jake's team to be finished first, that way his team can step out before Jake and get the title(at least some of them if not all). Then either EH comes out, starts talking shit and get pushed down by the monk from the Heart-soul Dao-lord, or the monk comes out and EH steps out seeing himself only in third. But I actually think EH is really close to Jake in points if not percentage. So the monk beating him out would say more about her then him. But EH will probably indeed be top 2, just so the rivalry looks interesting story wise.

Micah Molina

I could see it if factions like the Holy Church and others help EH, I think he could send a team to attempt to disrupt Earth. But yea,I think it's going to turn into another race. With Jake and EH beating their guardians, then seeing which can "save"the most planets in the Milky Way, serving like a political race.

Micah Molina

Heretic isn't negative, it just means your like a rebel with regards to the current Status-Quo. Which Jacob WANTS to be. While he thinks the church is the best option, it's mostly because in his view no other option is viable. He's too afraid to try to change the politics so far. The problem is the Holy Church is more authoritarian and you have to follow the rules or be an enemy. Luckily being an Augur isn't tied to the Church, so he could change factions and be fine, save a hit being put on his head. It's just he's scared and believes there is no faction more positive currently

Lewke

Pretty sure an embarrassing moments montage capped off with Lord of Hunger would be the best part!

Lewke

Daylight Savings Time here in the US really screwed me because I was enjoying the chapters with my morning coffee right before work.

Lewke

Most teams at the top seem to change members and have people die. That’s why I’m hoping for a secret bonus for Team Sylphie completing through floor 80 as the same group

Lewke

Yeah we haven’t heard anything about overall rewards to this point. I think all the looks we’ve had at other teams mention at least one person dying or being switched out except for Arnold’s, so it seems pretty rare to get to floors 70/80 with the same group.

Rahsheem Reid

Mr. Chetto head is getting 2nd

Jeff McCulley

That’s what they’re trying to do. Each person, lowest to Jake, successively takes #1 and the title.

Jeff McCulley

I think Jacob is due to defect at some point. Too much messed up stuff with the Church.

Jeff McCulley

Shouldn’t that be “The Cheato”? Just checking.

Jeff McCulley

Hello? The “gift” is going to be sending Dina back to Earth to continue adventuring with Jake.

Jeff McCulley

You’re looking at it just from a multiplier percentage standpoint. If Jake has roughly 2 million base points, Sylphie and the others aren’t far off. We’ve been told at least two long past floors that Ell’Haken cheesed by cheating, that almost directly had to translate to fewer points—as evinced by the relative scores on Floor 180. Meanwhile, Jake’s crew maxed points. Every single time. I’m not even going to attempt the math, but all that has to happen is for Sylphie to have enough of a greater number of base points than Ell’Hakan for her smaller multiplier to produce more than his. Just as a semi-random example, if Sylphie has a base 2 million points and a total 70% multiplier, and Ell Hakan has a 125% total multiplier, but only 1 million base points, who comes out ahead? (Don’t trust my math. I hope you get the idea)

Micah Molina

You're right. Rereading it, that's definitely the implied meaning. I completely missed it the first time.

Allan

She isn’t a native so it isn’t possible.

One Winged Angel

Man, imagine if the Cheeto fuck ends up 3rd with someone like Carmen beating him out or the Azal Ghost King guy.

blarper

The 30k bonus was for everyone surviving the fight, if I read the chapter correctly EH used bloodline shit to just make the emperors rejoin and they didn’t even fight him at all so no reason he should get bonus for everyone surviving

Jeff McCulley

Currently picturing El’Hakan wearing the Holy Mother’s dress. Holy Mother walks in, shrieks: “What are you doing in my closet?!!!”

Jeff McCulley

Doesn’t work for me. ‘Cause Zac gots to be #1 on the all time list first for bragging rights. Oh…and to p*** all over Yip.

Jeff McCulley

I honestly don’t expect Miranda to do anything but glance at the leaderboard, nod and smile After all, Jake doing well only gives her more leverage and tools to work with when she gets back home. Both on Earth and in the sector. For that matter, networking here at Nevermore as well.

Jeff McCulley

I doubt that was the only floor EH got (a lot) fewer points than Jake and his party, either.

DirePants

Yeah I’d love a few chapters or side chapters of highlights

DirePants

And it’s over! What a ride! What an ending! Sylphie for the win! So excited for the leader boards! Don’t mess around with us either Zorg! 😂

Numbzy

I actually love the idea. Jake could even have a moment where all dark and brooding like, "no matter what alias I ever assume, the only one that matters is Jake Thayn, The Primal Hunter." Very mysterious for Jake

Numbzy

It's funny looking at it. So Jake vs EH is the perfect example of Miranda's question when she first came to work for Jake. Will he step on everyone to benefit himself, or lift everyone up? Jake is obviously lifting everyone up, even "accidentally". Conversely, EH is just using his own planet for his own personal gain. I wouldn't be against an EH redemption arc later on. Obviously not fully written out, but the cliffnotes. I think that would be a fun and interesting plot point.

Chloe

Nope. Jake finish first el cheeto finished 2nd forever. Never gets the title.

Chloe

So Artemis probably has a job and duties. For his gift, Nature's Attendant covers for her, so she and Jake can spend some serious time together. I'm hoping they hit it off just as well in person, and ha e a relationship like Sylphies parent Hawks. Just love the idea of that working out. Please please please

Chloe

I'm hoping this too. Crunch the cheeto. And if Jake beats him out, then El Cheeto only gets #2 ever. Permanently cripples his title multiplier. That's the real win.

Chloe

Thanks for the mathsyes I'm hoping he never sees #1. Never gets that title. Never gets those multipliers. Is permanently behind Jake.

Numbzy

EH 100% get to attend the after party. He's being set up as the 2nd place event award and will obviously be invited, as will his Patron. Also, some drama will happen there. It will either be Jake being "tempted" away from Vilas or EH will be secretly tempted away from YoY. I doubt anything of real substance happens there but it will lay the ground work for later story progression.

Numbzy

As much as we would all love a serious relationship between Jake and Artemis, it's just not possible. So Artemis probably locks Jake down for when he hits godhood. They probably spend a night together and Jake goes back to mortal-ing about afterwards. Jake and Artemis kinda just breaks the story, narratively. Who wants to fight a C grade or B grade that's married to a God outside of people who want to hurt Artemis personally. It doesn't really work.

Josh Hietpas

Nah fuck that. Zog wrote him too good and I thoroughly hate him and have no desire to see him “redeemed”. Plus, that would just be william arc 2.0 So yeah, fuck that. Arcane Powershot to the brain

Anthony Smith

I think it's important to note we don't know Artemis's intentions with Jake either. It could be a relationship. I suspect she's always wanted a child but would never have one with an inferior man. His bloodline is appealing alone. We've already seen other factions, such as the holy church make deals for bloodlines, like El Hakan.

Numbzy

I mean, accidentally a lot of Jake's path has been putting other people on the 'right' path. Whether they were enemies, friends, or you randomly met them in the forest. He's put a TON of people on the right path, on their own paths. And that's not just people he's used his Jake Juice on. Miranda is the most obvious example. Even the former leader of the fort he had a hand in 'fixing' his path, indirectly. So I wouldn't hate a EH redemption arc. It fits with Jake as an MC. Also no, no powershot to the brain if he kills him. EH wants a big show with everyone watching for the finally. So what if Jake's solution to that is dragging EH to a metaphoric closet and killing quietly. No one but Vilas and YoY sees it. EH just is never seen again. More of a "no one knows what happened" type of thing.

Anonymous

What is the chapter release schedule 📅 🤔

Mat

No chance, Wyrmgod sells information and that would just kneecap his business. Also why expose their secrets to the multiverse for no benefit

Mat

I think on EH, Jake will make sure that his records are erased from the multiverse( Holy Church good luck getting that bloodline). The potential impact of his plot to great to let him have redemption plus he messed up with those around Jake. With his race being unique, I actually think Jake will destroy his world after going on a rampage when someone has to stupid idea to mess up with someone like Vasperia. William is still alive because frankly Jake never gave two hoots about him but just what he represented. Him being lost and miss Kim just made Jake less and less interested in him.

Micah Molina

I'm not saying anything profound is going to happen. Just find it amusing, Miranda went to Nevermore to get away from work and dealing with Jake stuff, only for Nevermore to turn into a place about Jake. Lol

Seiryus

I get the feeling EH never had much "faith" in his patron from the beginning. If yips plans work and he benefits, excellent. If he fails, it's fine too, he can find someone else.

Seiryus

Jake is just as much a cheater and he got almost 150k points plus the 25% achievement in Minaga labyrinth. I really doubt Nevermore penalizes people for "cheating". People fight with the weapons they have.

Seiryus

The holy brand won't work, but someone with his talent would probably be treated more like a special guest, like Maria when she worked for Jacob, but much higher in the hierarchy

Ty Cooper

@mat I totally forgot about wyrmgod's side hustle. Yeah you are probably right. He would probably sell the blooper real

Ty Cooper

Azal would be great. EH is technically allies Valhal. I would love for him to be beat by a non-allie.

Biggy smalls

Nah, that just be bad writing. You don’t out of nowhere include a third party at this point. Jake will undoubtedly have new enemies on his path to Godhood once he finishes off Orange man. No need to shoehorn in some new person now. It’s important to write in a good introduction to a new important character (especially your main characters biggest threats). Like Zog did with Yip and his chosen EH.

Anonymous

Anyone else disappointed that there is no proper reaction from EH to Jake beating Valdemar ? I enjoyed the gods reaction immensely, so it would have been awesome to get EH's and YoY's reaction as well! Tftc though

Ty Cooper

I just reread the chapter. I just realized that they sped up time to end faster. Hence messing up EH's number 1 spot.

Jeff McCulley

On DOTF, there’s a character some people hate that I think is just misunderstood. Here, having seen what Ell’Hakan has done to his planet, that’s WAY too selfish, exploitive and self centered to be redeemable.

Ty Cooper

Lol Kator sucks. But I agree there is no redemption for EH. He has gone to far to much for it to be left with a redemption arc. Jake even thinks it will be a quest to unlock b-grade

Dream

I really hope the church doesn't get in the way of Jake killing Ell’Hakan. Would leave such a bad taste in my mouth if Jake was about to kill him then suddenly the church barges in...

Dream

I don't think it's just the side hustle. Can you imagine showing the trump cards of chosens and shit to the whole multiverse? The chosens and patrons would get pissed... It could tentatively happen for ppl without backing or weak backing but that's it. Also if it was made public a lot of people might not even go to nevermore. No one wants to reveal their secrets to the world.

MrCynical

@william EH tried to use his bloodline manipulation on Minaga and it basically broke him. EH did the Minaga fight straight and got the same completion reward points as Jake.

Ty Cooper

Yeah. I was a bit underwhelming but he did still mention his victor over the monstrous Valdy. I hope we get the reaction to them killing the THO. Well we should be getting the reaction to Jake's Nevermore finish.

Numbzy

I'm kinda assuming that is exactly what will happen.

mapts

I’m pretty sure he didn’t do the secret final stage in the Minagi fight and only got like 20%, but idk it’s been so long

TSMS

I kind of hope Jake is confident in his #1 spot and doesn't speed up his exit. The other four will exit from least points to most with Dina and Sword Saint both get temporary #1 and then Ell'Hakan emerges, gets #1, makes false assumptions about Jakes standing and declares himself superior or something like that. Then Jake ends his run and takes the crown. This would give EH better achievements, but does Jake really have to care about that? Having Jake delay the end of his run might be better overall to derail EH's and Yip's story. The rest of Jake's team could even enter the city floor without Jake before ending NM to make others think Jake died on floor 80. But I don't think that's a clever move as deception like this can be used by EH and Yip to their advantage.

KenTX325

I wonder if levels earned or something else is factored into the equation.

KenTX325

I’m starting to think Jake will develop a relationship with someone from each primordial and perhaps get them to bless a statue in the temple in Haven. This does something too the church of the primordial. So getting Jacob back on earth is needed. Maybe we will see William reconnect with Eversmile but as a heretic.

KenTX325

Lots of people want to separate Jake and FK. I don’t. He is useful. He is a natural king and Jake may need assistance ruling his future empire. Also, Jake needs to keep the mask linked to FK. Maybe get an upgrade for it. For a reward Jake could use a mythic bow or just a ton of great alchemy ingredients so he can rapidly level his profession.

TwistedVanity

Hmmm. Setting ell Hakan as a bug baddie and powerful I get. But he's not the chosen of a primordial. His power is not warrior focused its cheat focused. No way he should be able to out perform jake and his team. He'll no way he should have been able to out perform the blighfather or valhals team. No way his showing should be this strong. Its just wrong on so many levels. I loved the fight and slyphies authority. I just feel No one should have done more floors that jake and his team. In fact I hoped and expected No one to get past 78 to show how good they all were. EllHakan is powerful enough with his bloodline cheat and forces, there was no need to make him this overpowered and essentially superior too jake. Yeah jake will win overall, some chance or luck now. But still I wanted an overwhelming victory at nevermore so that ellkahan had too plot and cheat more.

TSMS

When Ell'Hakan was on earth he was able to fight the Sword Saint with none of them having a clear upper hand. If I remember correctly, SS was about to use his transcendent skill when EH decided to disengange and leave earth. So, EH is strong even without his bloodline. I would also say, that the setting of NM advantages EH even more than Jake. EH can cheese far more floors with his bloodline and progress at the ridiculous pace he demonstrated. In addition, while Jake assembled his team on his own power (with the exception of Dina), EH had Yip help him and had to offer up compensation to the other factions (as seen in this chapter with the Holy Church). In conclusion, EH has a advantage due to the location, had more help from his patron and had to expend more ressources and will still not be able to reach Jake's score.

If it's just a blooper reel, where the participants do dumb or say stupid things, it doesn't necessarily have to show trump cards. You just have to do good edits. For instance, you can just show Jake claiming to be the Lord of Hunger dressed in cosplay. It's not gonna be a secret long that he can change his level and name. The gods know, many in the Order know, even EH and his team already know.

Biggy smalls

It’s useful to both of them and is a connection neither should want disbanded. If Jake gets caught in a bad spot he can Summon FK to fight alongside him. If FK gets trapped and is going to lose he can tell Jake to summon him to his location.

Biggy smalls

Not to mention what he did to Chris. He beheaded a much weaker non combatant. He even went so far as to taunt Jake with his Friends decapitated head. For Chris’s sake along with all the other people EH has murdered/subjugated he needs to be put down.

So does every member of the party get the percentage bonuses they earned as a party. 25% from defeating Minaga without losing anybody(which I don’t think any other team managed) plus I think two 5% percent bonuses and finally this last 10% bonus it means that Dina and The Sword Saint will have a bonus of 115% and Jake a bonus of 150% I think. Should be enough to get all three on the temporary leaderboard with of course Jake. Claiming the top spot for the era Side note I still find it so sad that SS didn’t get the recognition of Valdemar because I know if he had the ability to use his transcendent he could have. Umbra was just to bad of a match for our old swordsman who does his best in a straight on fight. Which would have been perfect for Vlad

El Hakan is a cheat. I get what you're saying but even SS mentioned he isn't just a leader raised with a silver spoon and is powerful in his own right. As for the timing and how far he got youve gotta remember fighting isn't the only way to battle. Hell he skipped the whole town floor of minagas where people spend years crafting and such to earn points to pass the floor. But El Cheeto fuck just skipped that all with his bloodline. He probably even skated through a few levels by just manipulating conversations. Even the challenge dungeons he has a different kind of advantage. Even Nevermore herself made comment of El Hakan scoring high in the house of the architect but didn't like his methods.

Anthony Smith

Yeah but our prideful asshole FK won't allow it to stay that way. They've definitely bonded as teammates but the unique lifeform must have his independence. It's apart of his path as a king.

Clint

Sounds like a good reason for Jake to finally develop a heresy plague and infect the Holyland.

Nate Fowler

I would love it if something like this happened. I want to see the contention between Jake and the holy church become outright conflict. I’d be extremely disappointed if the church doesn’t really play a significant role in the following arcs, especially with Jacob’s current position and outlook on the church.

Yes, thank you for the chappy, Zogarth! Stupid me, I waited until Monday morning to read this chapter so I wouldn't get bullied by a fight cliffhanger and the ONE time I refrain from instant gratification I find out that I didn't have to wait until Monday to find out how the fight ended... 😅

Bent Sommer

I still dont really get how the nevermore/entrance/leaderboard stuff works. Why the hell are all so timely close together. EH could have gone 3 month bevor jake and would finish First. And all none 93 era contestants like azal etc could enter as soon as 93 univers was integrated

TSMS

In the first 5(?) years of a new integration you have to have at least one party member that's from the new universe in your party to be eligible for the leaderboards and it took a bit for the people from the 93rd to reach C grade. That's why Jake's and Ell'Hakan's teams enter around the same time and why many other strong teams entered in the months after them. Maybe EH and Yip purposefully waited for Jake to enter. But yeah, it's just on of the things you have to accept are that way, because it's convenient for the story. 🤷‍♂️

James Squibb

Hakkan is a heretic....possibly

Eddie

Sorry, how does EH know Jake beat Valdemar? Jake didn’t announce his challenge dungeon results. Did Yip find out from some other god at the watch party and get word to him? Or did the Holy Church tell him based on the Holy Mother knowing?

sknasen

I’d be very upset if he actually gets above Jake on the leaderboard.

AbsoluteBias

Most likely both, with the first probably being a rumor and the second being confirmation.

Braden Moody

Honestly, EH is not an interesting villain to me, I'm just ready to be done with him already.

kpii

yeah Ellhakan's a fraud lmao
