Why are universities in America so expensive? This issue has become a hot topic over the past few years as student debt has skyrocketed. While graduation rates have never been higher, youth underemployment has never been this bad. In the past, universities were reserved for the select few who could afford their expensive and selective programs, but getting a degree also meant being essentially set for life. Today, people with a degree aren't guaranteed a job fitting their specialization, or in fact any job at all. With such uncertainty, many students wonder whether graduation is even worth it, as most are saddled with nearly unbearable student debt which they will be repaying for a long time. In this video, we will explore the origin of universities as a business in America, and how their popularization has created a lot of problems for contemporary American graduates. Under the kind patronage of Samuel Patterson.
