I go back and forth whether or not it's Season 4 or Season 5 that's my favorite, but I think I have to give the nod to #5. While Dracula wasn't an end-game boss monster (as far as we know, given this is only episode 1), we can presume that Buffy wasn't able to actually kill him in this episode. As we see at the end, he is able to somehow to *appear* dusted while actually being safely in mist form. It would be a stalemate at the end, with Dracula fleeing in mist (or bat or wolf) to preserve his life, IMO. At least they did the de-invite spell so he can't come into her home anymore!

I LOVE this episode. It's so camp I can't even handle it lol. First of, I get what you were saying about Giles. S4 felt like Buffy & Co were all figuring out their adult lives in college so they're not leaning so much on the adults in their lives. But Giles is family! I'd be heartbroken if he left. I'm glad Buffy told him she needs him and that it seemed to have changed his mind about leaving. She asked him to be her Watcher again not in an official "let's get your job back" sort of way but to train her to understand her power better. I think meeting the First Slayer has really made her realise her power is a primeval thing that she has no real understanding of and she wants to so that she can be a better, stronger Slayer. Giles may not work for the Council anymore but he does have years of training with them. Watchers are also academics. They've literally gathered and studied everything they could find on Slayers since as early back as they could go. Giles probably knows more than Buffy the history of Slayers and their powers. I don't think the show went down the route you wanted with Dracula being the main villain. They totally leaned into the camp silliness of Dracula here lol. It would be cool to see him become a more prominent villain though seeing as I think he might actually be unkillable. The wolf had absolutely nothing to do with Oz. In the OG Dracula story, he could turn into a batand a wolf. The wolf on the roof was Dracula, watching to catch Xander alone. Not sure if you caught it but when Xander called Dracula "master" in front of his friends and got weird looks for it, he added "bater" awkwardly as in..."mastur...bater" 🤣🤣🤣 Also wdym you didn't know Buffy has a sister? She's been with us this whole time! She went on so many of our missions together! Don't you remember? 😏🤭🤫

The ending was a surprise to all of us as well cause we didn’t know she had a sister aswell. For me my thoughts were that I truly dislike when tv shows retcon huge stuff like this as if we didn’t watch the previous seasons but whatever. Enjoy the ride. Strong start to season 5.
