I’m glad you enjoyed the pilot episode. I knew a lot of people who worked on this show behind the scenes. The creator of the show spent 1 year shadowing the police to write a true crime book. That book did well and was turned into a tv series. He also spent another year on one of the worst drug corners to write a second true crime book that became an HBO miniseries. After both projects he had tons of material he couldn’t use in the books and get the real people to sign off on it so he used it to create a fictional story that became The Wire so the story is fiction but based on the truth. (The mouse story at the end was completely true) I definitely hope you continue this on the channel. It has done well for other channels.

oh, wow. awesome that you know people who worked on the wire. (are you from baltimore?) it's definitely one of my favorite shows, and i think also one of the best ones i've ever seen from a storytelling perspective. i read homicide: a year on the killing streets after watching the wire, and i definitely recognized some of what became stories and characters for the show. i also recognized some events from the corner (book) that made it into the wire. i haven't yet watched the corner (miniseries), but it's on deck for after i finish homicide: life on the street. (i'm a few episodes into season 5.) 🙂
