I sob every time I see Jamie put that cape on his coffin

I understand your pov. The reason why they chose to have him killed by that guy will make sense soon-ish. I think for us this episode mostly hit bc of Jamie and Brooke. That last scene with the cape was really well done.

The choice to kill him off came from the idea of random acts of violence. The episode centers around the point of a pointless act. As far as Brooke, for me it was them allowing her to come to them on her own time. Nathan went out of his way to see how she is doing and I think they see it but they know what she has told them and they're not going to contradict their friend.

The new girl in class was shown two episodes ago. She was the one attempting to steal from Brookes store but was partially caught.

It's my favourite scenen of nathan, when he talkes to brooke, it really shows how amazing he is while often just beeing laid back.

i think his point is that they didn't build Q up enough for his death to be impactful (for him) and i kind of agree. he was very one note to me. even despite the writer's attempts at trying to make him redeemable a few times -- it wasn't enough for me to really care about him as a character or miss him when he was gone. i kind of forgot about him as soon as this season was over tbh lol. and for the most part, so did the characters (despite a few occasional mentions).
