I agree Rose and the Doctor are particularly tone deaf and the Kung Fu monk were ridiculous. But once you get past that the episode is not that bad, I like the mix of history and myth. And the best thing is the background for the creation of Torchwood. You were distracted and you missed the first time they mentioned the Torchwood Estate, when Queen Victoria is welcomed by the owner. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to tell you that Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who.

Yes and that whole bit where Tennent talks about the history of the Hope Diamond is completely true. The supposed curse, the never being satisfied and cutting it down.

It never gets old how many reactors think they've accidentally got the wrong show at the beginning. It is pretty rubbish. Overall though, I like this one. Actress that plays Queen Victoria (Pauline Collins) is amazing and the werewolf story is well done. True, the Doctor and Rose are having way too much fun for a very serious event but I would imagine after travelling for a while, you'd lose some perspective on that. I like that they were called out on it at the end by Queen Victoria.

Your reaction to the monks was way OTT, it really wasn't that bad, just out of context to the show. Then again it is an honest reaction so that's cool. Rose was incredibly annoying this episode and the whole "we are not amused thing" was massively overplayed and wasn't even funny to start with.

I legit felt it was it was not good. Completely out of a different show and was unnecessary. Wasnt even brought up later. It was just a random awkward 2 minutes. If you liked it that's cool I was just very put off by it.

I just thought it was out of context, but not like the worse thing I had ever seen on TV LOL . You needed to save some of that for some future episodes and moments that genuinely deserve them :D Yup the show can be bad occasionally and other than the odd episode this was a poor season for me. The good news is that it is worth sticking with and you will love it by end of season 4.

Yeah that is the nature of the show I guess, you never know from 1 episode to the next ( unless it is S11 :P )
