Spoiler Free:  I enjoyed this episode.

Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

My favorite parts were Alan talking to the maintenance man and the lady at the front desk. When he was flirting with the lady at the first desk and started talking about his flakes I was like so sexy dude chicks love to hear about flakes lol. There were a few jokes that went over my head , anything to do with a celebrity or a location and the joke about his old show. Overall there were quite a few funny moments in this episode and I look forward to watching more.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

Didnt even know you were planning to react to this. Brilliant, one of the best😂

Waiting to see what was today, personally disappointed as I lump the actor in with the Mr Bean guy.... in that they're both not funny.

Michael Harrop

Been refreshing like crazy for this!

Michael

Dont be one of those guys. Also if you looked at the top of the page you would have seen it was alan partridge today. And the 'Mr.bean guy' is ROWAN ATKINSON . If you dont know what rowan atkinson has done for British comedy then i dont know where to start. You come across and one of the people ricky was taking the piss out of with When the whistle blows. is he havin a laugh?

Michael Harrop

I'm from Newcastle, it's the city where the maintenance guy with the thick accent is from. So despite him putting it on deliberately thick I have no trouble understanding every word hes saying 😂

Michael

hes deffo not trying to flirt with her.And If im not mistaken, in this episode hes trying to get a second series of Knowing Me Knowing You, so hes playing his character from the other series that you didnt need to watch to understand this. if im mistaken someone correct me

Looking forward to this, although I am one of the people who suggested watching Knowing Me Knowing You first. I agree it's not "necessary" to watch before this, but you don't lose anything by watching it so I don't know why you were talked out of it. Having one directly follow the other would have made sense, to extend the life of your Alan Partridge reaction series. Also given the way the timing worked out, if you had started off with KMKY, you would have finished up with the Christmas special around Christmas time, then beginning the new year with a new show with I'm Alan Partridge. Anyway, I won't complain, as I do find this series generally funnier than KMKY.

Thomas McDonald

Woo! At last! :D I've been looking forward to this since last month!

Alan partridge was definitely a forerunner of cringe comedy! It does get funnier. Later on in the series there's a cameo of Graham linehan and Arthur Matthews (who wrote IT crowd and father ted)

Hi Josh. I don't believe you should necessarily watch Knowing Me Knowing You, as its lacks the depth of the later Alan Partridge material, but you should definitely watch a clip or two from the show, or perhaps the last episode in it's entirety, in order to give some context and background to the character. There are plenty of clips on YouTube you could watch to give some context, but in a nutshell Alan had a disastrous TV chat show where he regularly offended his guests with ill informed opinions, self-righteousness, narcissism, and blundering incompetency. The clip bellow is from the last episode and shows how Alan finally lost his job with the BBC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiAeoqg0jlY

Gets better every week. As you learn more about Alan, he becomes funnier. He's a lovable idiot. And there are so many quotable one liners.

Wilss

Dissapointed we didn't get to see earlier Partridge. It could have been a longer run with him. But it is what it is.

Alan Partridge shows feel like a journey of where the character was and where he is going. I honestly think that Alan Partridge is one of the best developed character of any show, his autobiography was amazing!

Gary Tamblyn

You’ve pretty much nailed his personality Josh. He’s essentially another awkward British cringey character with no filter (there’s a lot of them about :-)). Somehow he managed to get his own lucrative TV chat show, that didn’t work out well. He’s now ended up on an obscure radio station doing the graveyard shift at 4:00am and living in a budget travel lodge hotel. Most of the humour comes from observing his odd personality in action, as he desperately tries to rebuild his career.

lemmy101

It gets funnier the more you get to know Alan. His mannerisms and ways. True there will be plenty of jokes ribbing on British celebrities that'll likely go over your head, but for the most part they are intentionally quite lame 'celebrity friends' which is half the joke that Alan's in these boomer, old crusty and uncool TV circles. I think thats all you really need to know and it won't spoil the show not to recognise these names.

Adam C Turek

Steve Coogan is Brilliant in this. He's been in a bunch of Hollywood movies (Night in the Museum, The Other Guys, Despicable Me, Tropic Thunder) but never quite broke America like Ricky Gervais did. If you like this series you might be interested to know he made an Alan Partridge Movie called "Alpha Papa" in 2013, its great.

Anonymous

It will get better the more time you spend with Alan. Ive often wondered how Americans would react to him as I didn't know if it would translate, but really everyone on the planet knows an Alan, regardless of where you're from.

Anonymous

same, I honestly think Josh would have liked knowing me knowing you too and would have made this show more enjoyable from the start, it's not needed no, but still funny, perhaps he could do a reaction to them on YouTube that would be the best of boast worlds.

Steve King

You didn't need to watch 'Knowing Me Knowing You', yes it is the precursor to I'm Alan Partridge but is merely a spoof chat show and not the sit-com format this is. All you need to know is he once had a chat show on the BBC, had the catchphrase "AH-HAAAA' when meeting guests and now finds himself on a early morning local radio station desperately trying to rekindle the success (at least in his head) of the chat show. He's like an anti-Andy Millman from Extras in that he only cares about the fame and popularity and will sell himself out to get it.

Anonymous

Josh, not sure if you ever watched Curb Your Enthusiasm (my personal favourite US comedy show) Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge) was the Therapist "helping" Larry get his wife back if you ever saw the show/that episode.

Saul

My advice when you hear Alan name-check a British celebrity you haven't heard of(which is often): you will be correct 99% of the time if you just assume that the celeb in question is a pathetic z-lister who is a bit crap. That's the joke most of the time with his references to incredibly minor British celebs: how sad and crap they all are, and how Alan's level of celebrity is so lame and minor. In fact you could just swap out in your head all the names he says with, say, Carrot Top or Scott Baio or Stephen Baldwin and you'll get the gist of the joke.

Anonymous

Alan is a British Ron Burgundy type character... he's overly confident and thinks of himself very highly when in reality he's really tragic and embarassing but still likable

Daryl

"Smell my cheese you Mother!" I said this for years when I was younger. I'd actually forgotten it was from this show. 🤣🤣🤣

Bob K

Alan Partridge is one of if not the best fleshed out characters in comedy. Steve Coogan is so good at Alan when I first saw this "I'm Alan Partridge" series I had to remind myself the previous series wasn't real either. I firmly believe Watership Alan is one of the best television episodes of all time. Steve Coogan nails so many of Alan's shortcomings in this episode. I don't want to spoil anything but so many of Alan's misinformed views are on display in that one episode it is hard to keep up.

Anonymous

i think with a lot of british comedy/sitcoms spoilers arent really a thing, it seems like continuity isnt as prevelant as it maybe in US sitcoms a bit lile in peep show i know you talk about sophie cheating on mark but in the context of the show its not really a thing

Jake Cross

Newcastle is in the North East of England and known for its accent and dialect, amongst other things. Colloquially it is referred to as "Geordie". So when Alan says the "Geordie people" that's what he is talking about. The reference to "fish on a dishy" was, I think, a reference to the song "When The Boat Comes In", which is from the Newcastle area. I understood everything he said and I am from the South of England.

Chris

The only thing you need to keep in mind for this is that every celebrity he mentions is a really low rent, z Lister in the UK and every place he mentions is a regional, unremarkable town. That's what makes it funny . No need really to know who he's talking about but it would add slightly to the joke

Anonymous

I'd never seen "Knowing Me..." I only watched "I'm Alan..." and loved them all.

Anonymous

You’ve basically got him down to a t Josh, is rude to people without realising and no filter what so ever. Gets better as the series goes on. Series 2 is incredible.

Anonymous

Yeah, I'd say you made a mistake not watching Knowing Me Knowing You first, or grouping the two shows together. It would definitely add to your experience of watching this show - as others say, Alan Partridge is a character on a journey and is best watched in order. I think most of us would forgive you if you diverted from the polls to accommodate things like this in future.

Anonymous

From one episode alone you can tell this is one of those cult shows where fans will know all the quirky oddball lines. Aside from his cameos and voicework I think his biggest movie to date is probably Stan and Ollie. 24 hour Party People and Philomena are supposed to be worth a watch too although I haven't seen either

Michael

I'd have to disagree, you really dont need to watch knowing me knowing you, you just need to know that his character is still the same and he's trying to get a second series for knowing me knowing you

AfterWorkReactions

Yes I can totally see what you mean man, I have had a lot of requests for this show too so I do think it is very well liked.

AfterWorkReactions

Oh ok lol thanks for the heads up bro. If I don't know a reference I usually look it up right after and I usually get a few people letting me know who they are.

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks man. I did ask everyone a while ago when this show was voted in if it was necessary to watch Knowing first and mostly everyone said no.

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks man I will check that clip out for sure. I asked a while ago if it was necessary to watch Knowing and mostly everyone said no.

AfterWorkReactions

Oh ok lol thanks man, I usually look certain references up if I don't know once the show is over. I usually get a bunch of comments too of people letting me know who they are.

AfterWorkReactions

I actually haven't really watched too much of that show. I will have to check it out. I feel like I have seen him in something before but I don't know what.

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks man. I asked you all first before I started to see if it was necessary to watch Knowing first and mostly everyone said no.

I fall on the side of the fence that that thinks you would have benefited from some of 'KMKY first. Or at least the Xmas special 'Knowing Me Knowing Yule'. That one special would give you a good idea of his personality, how his TV show was and why he's in the position he is at the hotel. This show can easily stand alone and is funnier than KMKY, but the earlier episodes were much funnier to me because I wasn't just trying to get used to his character.

Michael Harrop

Its Red Dwarf day lads! The boys from the dwarf are here!

Dandelion

First time I've ever seen this show. It was ok. Hope it gets better when you get to know the character(s).

AfterWorkReactions

Thank you for your input, I hope you grow to enjoy it more. If not I still have a bunch of shows I am doing =]

the best way for you is forget the names partridge says it what he says about them is the funny part.

Anonymous

This show was acrually filmed mostly in front of a live studio audience. The sets were closed in crates and the audience watched on monitors. This gave the actors more comic timing and ensured there wer no lines obscured by laughter.

Anonymous

Alan Partridge is absolute genius! how they never made a 3 series I don't know!.
