Perhaps you have seen a full rubberized "01"  bouncing around on the social networks ?

There she is, with plenty of squeaks, bouncy twintails and a very usable mouth ♪ lalala ♫

A few words about this project if you are interested in it.

The project was started with my sweet Sammy (@SammykigNfur) at the end of 2018 .

We wanted to do a joint project for our future meetings (that the covid fucked up very well).

I can't really tell about the sister mask of Miku (since she is still to be unveiled)

However, I'm proud to introduce the a hard shell kigurumi mask designed as Vocaloid 01 "Miku Hatsune".

As a little starter, here is a  little history of the project ...

The first hard shells kig masks I ever seen was the "RA" model from Nukopan. I always loved it but unfortunately Nukopan masks are really fitted for small japanese girls and the RA was specially very very small. I met with the performer below and she is really really small ;-)

(Those masks are from 2013 ish I would say.)

Also, Nukopan was probably struggling with the infamous twintails ... Hard shelled twin tails  ? Possible but ... the hassle...

Anyway, as you may starting to know me ... how would it be possible to have a Miku but made of latex.

So the first idea, I had was .... contacting Kurage (https://en.kurage.tokyo/) the famous latex maker in tokyo. I went to his workshop in 2016 and asked if he could make some inflatable latex wigs on a Kig mask. After his inflatable hoods are really something ...

Unfortunately, Kurage thought it would be very difficult. Well too bad for me... I will have to find another way.

So I started to work on a prototype of hardshell with plaster and urethane foam with an idea of dipping her into a turquoise latex vat. (i still have the pigments :D ) 

The twin tails would be inflatable and made of latex of course. Hopefully, retail latex and my latex vat would be the same color (yeah, it's easy to dream)

I commissioned Latexcatfish to make the twin tails. So easy to explain what you want but finally it went pretty well.

I kept a photo of my first try just for fun :) Well .... :D 

More seriously, that's when Sammy and I decided to commission the masks from さんずい (@Maniajuns)

After a lot of communications with the artist, the design started to become more real.

And after being 3D printed and painted, she was born, on July the 19th in 2019 !

And arrived damaged one month later :D

In the meantime, the inflatable latex ponytails that were ordered arrived and of course :

So yes, paintjob, fails, broken parts, modifications here and there to make it better etc ..... 

Anyway, after a little pandemia, switching homes, a herniated disk, the mask was finished just a few days ago.

The cosplay was ordered from "Black Sheep Latex" (the UK shop was suggested by my sweet Scottish Yui) and Helen really did a fantastic work with very little guidance. The cosplay was received *just* before being confined in March !

Well, it was a long project... I can't wait to be "Luka" and have Sammy turned into "Miku" so we can at last play "Magnet" for real ;-) Maybe, in the future !!

So this is really the first test run of Latex Miku, a new room, a new lighting setup.
