It is my favourite month of the year, and I'm already feeling the inspiration to write and paint like mad. It's also the first month where I've significantly reduced perks, so I can start to branch out, experiment, and finish off some way overdue commissions! So here's some stuff I'm thinking about doing, along with streaming dates and such. There's going to be a request stream this month, but I'll make a separate post with the form so no one misses it ;)

STREAMING

Here's hoping there isn't a mess of rescheduling this month T_T

  • Thursday the 8th at 2PM BST - CF Page
  • Tuesday 13th at 2PM BST - TSoS Page
  • Monday 19th at 8PM BST - Request Stream

WRITING

I have two chapters left to write on my online serial novel, Static Crush. This book means a lot to me, and it's been a big part of my life for the past couple years. It's the first novel I've really put out there; most I kept to myself. The reception has been overwhelmingly positive so far and given me a lot of encouragement to pursue writing further. With that in mind, I'm thinking of participating in Nanowrimo this year to get a headstart on my next book, with the intent to try querying agents this time. Traditional publishing has always been a bit intimidating, since I tend to write niche queer romance stories in fantasy/sci-fi settings. But I think it's time I took the plunge, so if any of you are planning on writing for Nano, let me know!

FUTURE KICKSTARTER PROJECT?

This is still a big maybe. One of the things I've been dying to do is more traditional painting. I squeeze it in from time to time, but it often gets lost to the sands of time and crowded scheduling. Kickstarter has a 'Make 100' type campaign where creators can make 100 of anything (prints, enamel pins, or as the case would be for me, paintings!) so I'm considering doing that in January. Back in the day, I did Bronze Artist/Iron Artist commission challenges and they were really helpful in giving me practice, letting me advance my skills a lot. This Kickstarter idea offers me creative freedom, so I can really experiment. I would make 100 paintings and send them to backers at random, so it would be a bit of a surprise. Whether I can manage this or not will depend on how much I accomplish in terms of commission backlog, but fingers crossed 'cuz I'd really love to do more traditional painting. I'll make a post with some of the paintings I've done already :)

TIMELAPSE VIDEOS

I am the owner of a spiffy GoPro now, so I can potentially film traditional painting processes and post them in timelapses for you. If you're interested, let me know!

That's about it for now! Hope you're all getting into the cozy, fall vibes. Am I the only one who feels super inspired during this time of year?

Much love! <3

Congrats on nearing the completion of such a long writing project! It's so weird to get to the end of something like that -- the characters that have lived in your head and occupied so much of your thoughts are nearing the end of their story, and you know that the energy and time you directed into their journey will soon be shifted elsewhere, but that's okay because it was always the goal. Sad and happy all at the same time. Nanowrimo... that actually sounds like a good idea! And I'm speaking purely selfishly! I've been 'outlining' my 2nd novel for a little while, and of course by 'a little while' I mean 'an unreasonably long while.' Having a goal and a set timeline that isn't solely self-imposed might help me to focus on actually getting words on a page. The project I'd be working on would be well past 50k words, but getting that kind of a jump start on it would be fantastic, even if the prose is sloppy. Hmm...
