Out of Gas

Serenity's engine explodes, draining its oxygen supply and sending Mal into a delirious state of flashbacks about how he came to own the ship and form his crew.

This is my favourite episode too. I love everything about it. I’m glad you loved it too. On a rewatch you will notice Kaylee mentions wanting to buy a new compression coil several times throughout the series leading up to this. Beautiful writing.

Loved watching you see this amazing and emotional episode. There is another beautiful story associated with Out-Of-Gas. Firefly was a labor of love, and its cancellation was devastating to many, especially Joss Whedon. I am sure by now you understand why. Alan Tudyk told a story of Joss in his office calling anybody he could to save the precious show, hoping for the impossible. Alan Tudyk walked into Joss's office with the red button from this episode, and told Joss, "When your miracle gets here, just press this button and we will all come back." And they did for the movie Serenity.

As always Sofie, I LOVE your reaction! Okay Browncoats, call me a nitpicky Purple-belly for this lol... I'm not tho -- my coat is as far brown as brown goes - and I'll hear no jokes about my nose. ;P Wash navigated a new course that would take "the better part of a week" instead of "18 hours" to go where they were going, as Mal had asked him to. But when Serenity stops "dead in the water", they had been on that course for AT MOST a few hours! I think it's actually less than ONE hour... Even if it was up to six hours I don't think that would put them "out of range of anyone or anything". It's just a piddly little thing that maybe Tim didn't think through, nor did Joss catch it. I still love this episode of course; it's in my top 3 faves in fact. And Firefly has been my favorite show since I first saw it in 2011 or '12. Better late than never! You can't take the sky from me!
