Marcel wasn’t interested in the city back when he and Rebekah conspired against klaus, when papa tunde was introduced I’m sure you remember marcel had decided to partake in the war that was going on at the time therefore making him move away from the city he supposedly loved, he wouldn’t have moved had he loved the city back then as he does today. Marcels love for the city was only built when he had already built what he built once klaus was gone, the love only grew when he saw what his hard work had done so in rebuilding a city. Marcels motive for bringing Mikael back then was souly to be with Rebekah
