Simply one of the best TV episodes of all time.

what does that have to do with anything? A "prostitute" can't have feelings for someone without status and money? That's a very one-dimensional way to look at characters. Guess the entire time we watched Shae on-screen seeming to care for Tyrion and all of the soft moments (that we saw no instances of being fake) was just her diabolical master plan in action. Can't be that she is just vindictive when thought to be betrayed. The Tywin thing happened after Tryion "betrayed her." In that same episode (4.2) we see Tywin ordering for Shae to be brought to the tower of the hand. She was already hurt so she was vindictive and because she thought Tyrion betrayed her she prob thought there was no reason to risk her life by refusing Tywin. But I'm probably just "naive"

nothing like being insulting when someone doesn't agree with you

Shae was just putting it on and faking it in the books and GRRM literally confirmed that he thought she was much more interesting character in the show portrayal due to her having genuine feelings. She turned down Varys' big bag of diamonds or whatever it was to get her to leave to the free cities and live a life as a wealthy woman. Book Shae would have done that in a heartbeat.

Exactly, I acknowledged to this guy in the comments during the trial episode that Shae is fake in the books. You don't have to like her (I don't), but in the tv show, she is obviously made to be more complex. But I guess to him she is just a "prostitute" so of course she didn't have feelings

Guys, Daniel is completely unable to differentiate the show from the books. He formed an opinion from the books and is incapable of judging the character in the show independently from "book Shae". He also clearly carries personal baggage that renders a prostitute unable to love a dwarf in the world within his mind. I suggest not banging your head against this wall.

JeffLee

You don't know me so please don't tell me what I would or wouldn't do. FYI I would NEVER refer to ANYONE as an "ugly POS". Yes, within your mind, in the real world and in this fictitious one love is blind. You're falsely conflating generalities with possibilities. I GARENTEE you that at some point a prostitute has fallen in love with her client and women fall for dwarfs all the time therefor it is possible for a prostitute to love her dwarf client. It's kindergarten logic here. You're ruled by your prejudices and have a jaded personality that clouds your view of things. You also seem to have zero understanding that people's feelings are dynamic not static.

JeffLee

Additionally, your Egirl analogy is awful. It doesn't account for even half of the defining variables of the situation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MTbZXNSbZ8&ab_channel=AegonTargaryen 3:45 onward. "From the first season on, knowing where the story was going, I was saying 'how are they going to do this? How are they going to do this? Because, you know, she really likes Tyrion. She really has genuine feelings for him. You know, how are they going to work the betrayal in? It's not going to be convincing. But they made it convincing. And given that it was genuine feeling there, it was more powerful" At what point are we the ones going off 110% sentiment lol?

lemmy101

Even without GRRM himself weighing in, its obvious to any human being with a vague understanding of people that Shae was really into Tyrion and the betrayal was revenge because she felt abandoned and betrayed by Tyrion. Like, super obvious. The turning down the riches to leave offered by Varys makes it absolutely obvious even if you're unable to tell what genuine affection looks like.
