This month we have had several declined payments and accounts that Patreon has marked as Fraud.  As such, I am going to start blocking those accounts.  I don't want to punish everyone and make you all wait until the payments clear to send out bundles of art, that is not fair to the people who are here to actually support Kandlin, so it is better to just block accounts that did not pay than to screw everyone over.

If your payment did not go through, you have 24 hours to contact me, or I am blocking you.  I don't want to embarass anyone by posting names up here, but I will say that they are all new Patreons from November or December, so, if you really want to be a Patron of the Kandlin, and you had some payment problems, drop me a line within the next 24 hours, otherwise I am going to assume that your account is a scam and just be done with it.  We all have money problems sometimes, and I am happy to work with you, but I need to know about it.

Thank you,

for new accounts thats fair but if someones been a patron for many months Id say waiting to the 5th wouldnt be unreasonable. If theyve paid on a regular basis but mes up on a wrong payment .Itd suck if you banned them if they were afk for a few days when it happened.

kandlin

No, that is completely reasonable, and makes perfect sense. These are all new accounts, that were just opened in the last 2 months, have never made a payment, and are only supporting one creator. But I would rather give people the benefit of the doubt than just block anyone outright. Which is why I posted this, if anyone has any problems, please come to me and we will work on it, if someone has been a repeat patron, I would just message them directly and ask if they had problems or needed more time.I don't actually like being an ass, and would much rather work with people to get problems resolved.

Rick2tails

ok thats totally fair. I just wanted to make sure if i accidentally had a wrong credit card or some other screw up on my end I wouldnt have to scour the internet the 1st day of every month lest I get banned.

kandlin

Not at all, like I said I don't like banning people, we just had 8 this month that have never been patrons before, are not supporting anyone else, have very generic email addresses, and at least 5 of them were marked as Fraud payment methods by Patreon. I would rather talk to people and get stuff sorted out than block anybody. Most people here have nothing to worry about, and you are already pretty well established here. So if there ever is a problem I would probably wait for about a week, then send you a message to make sure everything was ok.

I have the same problems with some of my patrons, I usually send a welcome message to the new patrons personally (at least the ones of the highest pledges, the frauds are always high pledges) ..if the email gets rejected and return to the sender most for sure is a fake email account and the pledge will be fraud.. well I did that the first months until patreon aproved me for charge upfront ...there are also "declined" payments, but those are unintentional most for sure from the side of the members, one guy got his credit card rejected for X reason, or had a temporal problem and after let them know the problem most of the time they fix it.

Bbmbbf (what the heck does that stand for?) has it right. If the email bounces I would just block the account without any followup. If someone has successfully pledged I usually go for a longer period after contacting them.

Do like BBMBBF said. It will definitely work most situations.

That is a good idea, I will try that. And yeah, I don't want to block anyone, and I will certainly not do it to anyone I know. Most of the people here have been around for quite some time, or I recognize them from other sites or past commissions. so at least with the current level of Patrons, it is easy to keep track of, but your idea sounds great for if this ever picks up more and he gets a larger following. ~Galadreal
