I wish MJ and Gwen spent more pages acting on their desires than talking about their desires.

Maybe it's just what happens when a long-running series gets a new chapter after a while but this felt like a "recap episode" more than anything else. The art was great, the sex was extremely creative and generally the quality was quite high but I feel that having so much exposition on the origins and relationships between such a large cast on such a small book made it feel like the whole was less than the sum of the parts. Like this was more of a preview. Finally, maybe it's more of a minor quibble but for a book called "Spider-cest" there was barely any Spider-cesting. It kinda feels like a Spider-cest spin-off.

Well we're finally back on track to greatness. 1610 returns with beyond spectacular art, story, character, continuity, humor, pathos, and joy in the series' peak issue. The only real downside is that the book has a split narrative both of which could be their own books, and that does sting a bit with so many juicy bits unexplored here after a very soft year. Take Captain Kate, it may be the best in terms of the Feature genre over the past year but Kitty is infinitely better here to the point it renders that story's underperformance even more obvious. After three issues together and seven issues apart Kitty finally reunites with her second lady love. Despite many issues making a point of eye color, hair color, hair style, body type, and age both are alike in all these categories yet one never has an issue keeping track due to the incredibly emotive artwork. Both are way hardcore but Drew goes nuclear again, this is best emphasized during the phase fusion where Kitty grabs a shoulder (holding on for dear life) while Jess snuggles Kitty closer with one hand while her other hand massages. Also the build up was fantastic, with a big emphasis on eye contact and a great breakdown of a long makeout (never enough kissing). They swirl ass-to-ass on Scorpete for a big finish. The Holy Trinity hang out in a bedroom casually in a scene a bit reminiscent of Gwen's first bonding with the pair in 1610. They're a bit square compared to the Jess parade and want a little respite from the craziness and find it with each other. The key word here is comfort, MJ and Gwen even do a classic Bendis back and forth when plotting their tryst. The personalities here are absolutely nailed once again, and the rich history makes this a very emotional return (as Pete returned from death so turn does Spidercest) so much so the one weak story element, The Spider Thwips, doesn't even register on the characters' mood. If there is a letdown its the page count, there were four images of kisses from the apartment but only five images of intercourse on the last page for this godlike scenario.

A bit later to discus it, well the art work was great and it was a bit fun to see the two different tales. I found it not as enjoyable as the previous ones, maybe because they all arnt together in it.
