Hey folks! So, as you may have already heard from other creators, Patreon is being held accountable for sales taxes in the US now, which I think is pretty fair given that lots of people use it as effectively a recurring sales platform. That's not really what I do, though, so I don't believe this will affect most of you. I went through and marked all the tiers with their appropriate rewards, but to the best of my knowledge none of those rewards are taxable: They're mostly shout-outs and some exclusive content, there's no commissions, no physical goods or services, so I don't expect any of this to result in extra charges for any of you. That said, I am not an expert on the tax code of all 50 states so if you *do* wind up getting hit with sales tax for any of it, I'm sorry, and I totally understand if the increased cost makes you choose to stop supporting. I get it. I think it's not supposed to start until July anyway, so you've got time, but they'll be announcing it publicly soon so I figured it was worth communicating the situation in regards to my page.

I just got the supporter announcement. I hope "sneak peek" images, updates, polls, and such aren't taxable, but if you find they are, I'd be ok with a (separate?) supporter level that didn't include them, or with a rearrangement of the bonus bits to avoid whatever is taxable. I'm not here for stickers and t-shirts or even for insider content, just to support you doing stuff I appreciate.

Gosh. I'm late to the party on this post haha. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I became a supporter because I want to support your work. I also don't mind paying my taxes. So IMO, it's fine either way.
