As a music theorist, one of my favorite cures for boredom is music theory games! I like to play around with different musical ideas to see how they work, and one of the best ways I've found to do that is the Random Scale Challenge, where I take a completely random scale and try to pick it apart just like I would a "real" scale. Plus, it doubles as a composition game too, since the scales don't tend to have been used much, so they're great inspiration for new songs that you might never have thought of otherwise. This week we're back with what may be the closest we've come to a real tonal center, but don't worry, it's still got a few tricks up its sleeve!

As someone who is still early on in a music theory journey, I am completely dizzy now. Great video though, can't wait to understand it all some day!

Alex: in case you missed it, it turns out he accidentally did make the same scale. He just wrote it wrong the first time, so he didn't realize it.
