How to run Heat (Patreon)

Here's a little tutorial for those that are having trouble getting the game running:

One you've become a Patron, you'll have access to the Patron-only posts. Find latest post titled something like "Heat Milestone" or "Heat Test Build" if you're a Tester. Note that if you're a tester and a milestone is the latest build, download that instead of an older test build.

Click the "Continue Reading" button to expand the post.

Next, find the link in the post that takes you to the download.

This will take you to the MEGA download page. Simply hit "Download".

Heat comes in a .7z compressed archive in order to make the download size significantly smaller. To extract Heat files, you will need a program like 7zip or WinRAR. There's a high chance you already have one of these installed. If you do, skip this step.

Download 7zip from https://www.7-zip.org/download.html 

You will likely want the 64bit version

Run the .exe you've downloaded and press Install to install. 

You now have 7zip which installed is a fantastic program.

When the Heat .7z file finishes downloading, put it into an empty folder, then double click it. You should see a 7zip File Manager window open up showing the contents of the archive. If windows says it doesn't recognize the file, you may need to restart your computer.

Press "Extract" and the archive's contents will be extracted to the folder the .7z is in. You may delete the .7z file afterwards, it's no longer necessary.

Then, simply double click the .exe and enjoy the game! Remember you will need SteamVR installed from Steam for the game to work in VR. Don't worry, it won't show you playing Heat to your Steam friends ;)
