The answer is simple: they DID see these characters naked, but they didn't see them naked IN ASH'S ART STYLE! And they would like to see Ash's take on these characters. Plus, learning from the example of my failure with Callie Briggs, it's just that people don't know anything about more obscure characters, or in this case, they don't think Rocket would look good as a girl.
