You can see that Alexis and Milo are very happy that they can finally show their love on screen. Rory is sometimes too considerate since after the kiss she immediatly went to Dean to talk. Dean was not the perfect first boyfriend like so many say because he got way too clingy, jealous and yelled a lot at Rory that I thought he was going to hit her at one point. Rory and Jess are finally together!!

I love this episode! And I totally get why Lorelai is mad but it’s extremely weird to me that Lorelai is always so mad about Rory applying to more schools other than Harvard when it’s a thing here where you should always always have backups. You should be applying to multiple colleges. And Lorelai gets so huffy anytime a college that isn’t Harvard comes up in conversation, not even just here lol. (I understand why she’s mad at her dad though but it’s just pointless imo lol) Harvard and Yale are both Ivy League schools, so they are technically on the same level. Harvard was the first American university though, so it’s the oldest and it’s the one people always talk about on tv and film but There’s other Ivy League schools too like Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth. Every university will have better subjects than others so it depends on what you’re going to college for because one could have the best law program, one could have the best med school program, journalism, stuff like that for example.

yay!! you’ve officially made it to, as Lorelai calls it, “Jess and Rory: The Early Years” 😂💕 The Gilmore family dynamics are so compelling to watch. Loved that the 3 Gilmore Girls were all upset with Richard for their own reasons. It makes everything more complex and the family scenes keep getting better and better as the seasons go on 🔥

If Rory had said Mom I want to go to Harvard she'd be all for it! It's not that, it's the underhanded way he went about arranging this. That's what's pissed her off! Rory has wanted to go to Harvard for years and she's passionate about it, that's why Lorelai is so protective over that. She doesn't want Rory to be guilted into going to Yale which lets face it, is what he was trying to do here with the little talk right before the meeting about her mom's childhood dream of wanting to follow in his footsteps. He knew what he was doing was wrong which is why he didn't even tell his wife about it.

Rory WAS the one who made it herself! She even confirms this back in season 1 episode 4 when she's hit by the deer and Lorelai asks her if it's just her dream and Rory's just going along with it, and Rory tells her that it's what she wants and always has!

Can we talk about Luke being more of a Dad to Rory this episode than Chris ever has?! He's such an overprotective dad to her and I'm so here for it.

I’m not talking about this episode. I know why she’s mad this episode but there has been multiple episodes now where she freaks out about the idea of Rory even applying to another school. That’s not very normal lol. Yeah Rory has always wanted to go to Harvard. Idk why she feels the need to freak out about it all the time aside from this with Richard wanting to get her to consider Yale.

Because her parents love to manipulate them! We’ve seen this multiple times by this point and Rory is easily swayed by them! She struggles to stand up for herself with them. Lorelai has seen them do this since she was a little girl so she knows how they think and operate. She doesn’t care where her daughter goes to school, we know this! But she does care about Rory’s dreams, and making damn sure she’s not going to be railroaded by her grandparents.

Well yeah I know what you mean. Nevertheless, Rory always looks up to Lorelei and mentioned that she is terrified to disappoint her. I’m not saying that Rory doesn’t want to go to Harvard, I’m simply saying that her decision is heavily influenced by her mother. It’s like something she grew up being told she can go to Harvard and it a great school, so of course she wants to go there. But like the alumnus’s ‘bad’ daughter said in one of the previous episodes, no girl starts to randomly dream about Harvard at 3 y.o. by herself.

Completely agree. I don't get the narrative that Dean was a great first boyfriend. He really wasn't. He was terrible at times.

Princeton is definitely the best ivy school and Harvard and Yale are on the same level
