The first pizzeria in Venice was the Conca d'Oro in 1947, while the world's largest pizza was fired up in Rome in 2012 at 13,580 square feet. When we were in Rome in 2003 on an Insight tour they took a bus load of us to a 500 year old pizza restaurant. The pizzas were still being baked in a wood fire oven. So yes! Pizza was around in the 1800s…and before.

Thank you for sharing. I hadn’t realized that mummy didn’t have sight in one eye. My sister lost her sight/eye to cancer but is doing well after 20 years. Knowing my sister’s situation, I understand the stress of surgery or anything happening to the seeing eye. Your mom and you have a great outlook on life and may positive vibes carry you through.

I’m echoing the many good wishes for Isabelle. It’s a very scary time and you are all being extremely brave. I ALWAYS love the more informal, peek behind the curtain videos you sometimes do. Your bloopers reel from last year’s advent marathon is my absolute favorite video out of your hundreds of videos. Dear Isabelle I hope you are feeling a lot better after your operation, keep well. Stephanie I loved all of this, when you said that you had loosened your corset, it brought back fond memories of my Grandmother. She would say after an evening out that she was going home and taking off her stays. I take it she meant her girdle. Great footage of the party and the walk through Venice. Loved it a lot. We love the idea of bulbs naturalizing in the woods, but because we have a spectacular bluebell forest in our other wood, we might concentrate on other bulbs - snowdrops, daffodils, etc. We all love a good romance, but Dana and Davy are just friends 😊

I thought that all the mad dancing had something to do with the kitchen at Lalande, maybe some fumes from the chimney or a defective machine but turns out NO, it's just 'normal' Lalander global madness ! Goodness what a space to go mad in. I had a friend some years back who divorced and moved to Venice where she bought a huge Palazzo and restored it, not sure if she is still there as she loves to buy houses and move. Yesterday I watched an estate agent show a Palazzo for sale in Venice, wonderful building, no idea how many billions. Nice to know that you are all back safely xxxx

I am currently over 3000km away from my home and recovering after an eye operation, so I can totally feel your concern for your lovely Mum. This is my fourth eye operation in three years and I am so grateful for the skill and care I have received -hopefully Isabel is receiving similar care. I don't know if it's happening or I’m wrong (hopefully,) but I've noticed your numbers here on Patreon and on YouTube going down, and it troubles me that you might be losing the "momentum" with all of the ongoing plans and restoration taking place at LaLande. I hope it is not so, running out of funding with so much happening could be highly concerning. Do you have the reserves to complete everything if by any chance your income goes drastically down? You are taking on quite a lot, and on top of that, are now about to launch a new channel with Oliver. I hope you’re not chewing more than you can swallow, truly.

Thank you for yet another wonderful video! Best wishes to Isabelle as she recovers. Stephanie, I know you are not comfortable sharing your relationship on camera but that moment between you and Phillip really helped us know you. The look on both of your faces was so pure and honest. A person can begin to seem a bit artificial if the most personal parts of their lives are left out. Imagine Isabelle without Percy or your uncle without your aunt. It would seem incomplete, empty, contrived. When I saw you sitting at the piano I felt I was getting a more complete picture of who you are. You don't owe that to anyone, but it is nice as a patron to feel as if you have a complete picture of the person you choose to patronize and for that I thank you! Also, please show more of Philip, he is so talented, it was a pleasure to hear him play.

I did put this on your latest Facebook post, but thought I’d do it here as well! Not connected to this video, but is to do with the chateau!!!! With having the lake surveyed & having to create a separate route for fish to avoid the lake, you could possibly creating a number of hydroelectric dams. Just one can supply a standard 3 bedroom house all its needs, they generally cost from £6000+ per unit. Two could probably be fitted, one on the entry and one on the exit of the lake. This would create a massive supply of “free” electricity and could be done all at once well doing the lake, but could be done in stages, to keep the cost down if need be. Other then regular checks on making sure the dam is clear of debris, the only cost would be replacing bearings every year or two. Stage one, create platforms for the equipment and design the areas of the lake ready to use the flow of water. Stage two, Install one of the hydroelectric dams and use it. Thank you for your concern! But I’m not too sure what you mean about my channel going down? YouTube viewing figures naturally fluctuate each month, and they’re showing as lower at the moment because I’ve gone from 9 videos per week in December to 1 or 2 per week this year. In fact December and January were two of the best months I’ve ever had on my channel (only topped by the month during the first lockdown when my channel went viral). And luckily my subscriber numbers are still rising 😊 Patreon numbers always dip at the end of the month, though I think they will remain a little lower this month whilst many focus their attention on the situation in Ukraine. I have set aside a large sum for the lake, so, whatever the future brings, that should be able to go ahead. Now that we have all of the equipment and materials we can continue work on the garden and the panelling in the chateau for the foreseeable future. The façades are a huge job that would undeniably be affected by a drop in income. I am cautiously optimistic about the future of Lalande’s renovations, but I’m not taking anything for granted. As it is, I have to pinch myself every month that you’re all making this possible ❤️
