Patreon Q&A Number 6!

I look forward to these everyday, every week! In Australia, we’re 8 hours ahead so it’s a perfect way to start the day

Anonymous

It’s freezing in East Yorkshire!!

Hi Daniel, I agree here in New Zealand. I am waiting to get a WOF for my car then Im heading home with a hot drink to watch this😍😍

Anonymous

What a fantastic spot to sit in Stephanie. It looks like you are sat in an oil painting! Thanks for answering my question. Always a joy to listen to your update and escape to La Lande. 😁

Anonymous

Congrats on getting to 1000 Patreon’s. 🍾🎉

I spent quite a while staring at your dad's painting this morning and meditating on it. The figure in the center is pregnant and holding a chess pawn, and the same face is superimposed on a chess pawn. I imagined that your "mummy" had a conversation with your dad about feeling that life is a game and women play the part of pawns holding up and supporting the knight- the expression on the face is not very revealing, so it's a tabula rasa on which the viewer can project his/her own thoughts. My background is in art therapy and art, so I couldn't resist projecting my own ideas. I hope I didn't give too much away about me. :-) That's my take away. Love looking at it.

Anonymous

Thank you Stephanie for your updates here! It IS a lovely escape from the awful news here in the USA lately. You’re a ray of sunshine ☀️ I am looking forward to framing your fathers art work that you have gifted us. Mahalo again for your generosity xx 🌸

Can anyone remember what the FB page was called before I go through the video again ?

Anonymous

I was wondering if you've ever seen "ghosts" of old gardens in the lawns. I know this has happened in stately homes across the UK during the dry summers, the grass starts to die off quicker over areas that were once paths or boarders, revealing original garden designs.

Anonymous

Loved this, so informative

Anonymous

I’m curious , I know this will sound kind of odd , I’m wondering if sometime , could you film a video driving maybe a few miles to the chateau , I’m just curious what is down the road , I understand if you don’t ..

Always a joy to step into the life at Lalande by listening to your questions and answers.

I’m excited for my local print shop to open up so I can print out your fathers beautiful artwork! Stephanie, I lost my dad at 22 years old in 2015 he was a business owner and a woodworker I feel that we are extremely lucky to have pieces of work that our fathers have put their heart and soul into. Mine is in the form of furniture mostly. What you said about grief really resonated with me. 💜 Thank you for bringing so much light and happiness into the world! My partner Mike calls it my “Cinderella time” when I watch your videos! We hope to visit one day! Lots of love from Peterborough Ontario Canada (an hour and a half from Toronto) 🇨🇦

You looks so beautiful in the sun. Summer looks good on you ☺️

Anonymous

Oh Steph! You made me cry. When you spoke about not wanting to remember the exact date of you father's death I too have done that with both my father and mother. I always thought I was very weird as everyone else seemed to know the exact date of their parents' death but I did not want to remember it. Thank you for your thoughts about that. It confirms in me what I am doing is exactly right for me!

Anonymous

I had to pause the video halfway through to send a note. Please please please keep setting goals at each $1000. It is in no way presumptuous or overly ambitious. By setting these goals, you are giving us a vision of the changes as they happen at the chateau, and a real feeling that we are making a difference. It means so much to me that you are making these goals at each 1000. It makes me feel like I am taking part in something so very amazing. Much love!

Anonymous

I personally love seeing you open gifts. I think the 1000 target is great I check daily and I think it makes it more fun. I am really going to miss Nick, Marie and Antoine when they leave. I hope they will spend more time again in the near future. I’m really happy you and Michael are back together again. It’s wonderful how you both bring out even more of your talents and abilities.

Anonymous

Hello from Austin Texas! Stephanie, Mummy, Marie, Nick, Antoine and Selmer, A dear friend told me about Chateau Diaries about 6 months ago. I binged until I saw every episode. I enjoy every episode especially since lock down. And of course I also enjoy Michael P's site. I love all of you so much I became a Patreon. It makes me feel more connected to the world at this trying time for all of us. Please tell Michael and enforce how much protective gear he should be using when renovating. Sometimes when we are young I feel that we sometimes think we are invisible. But with all that he is doing at his chateau is going to take a toll on his lungs and eyes if he doesn't listen to all of his viewers. Hopefully maybe your influence can convince him. On another note, I am even more grateful to have become a Patreon to view and hopefully print you dear Father's painting. Thank you for being ALL OF YOU. My best to Percy and Gerald.

My favorite is one of your father's early paintings, the medieval looking one full of figures and lots of color. My personal preference is for more representational realistic art, though your father was very talented at his own style he developed. All of his art is very impressive. Your videos have been so cheering over this dreary lock down and watching you do things is very inspiring, doing them with a bit of style and class, rather than being humdrum. I really appreciate that artistic side you have of looking for beauty in all things, and decorating and serving food beautifully, etc.

Anonymous

I love watching you open gifts, I don't know why anyone would not want to see having fun, unless they are jealous. I find it like an extra birthday moment, just full of joy for me as well as all of you.

Anonymous

I agree. People who use goals ALWAYS set new ones as old ones are achieved, they don't go, oh, I guess I will set another goal in a few weeks...

Guinea fowl eat many, many ticks.

What a lovely afternoon. I am serenely happy for you, and everyone at the chateau, when you reach a goal. I would suggest keeping them where you are comfortable, and that seems to be $1,000. I think it’s great that you have said that the money raised will go directly into the chateau (and taxes), that’s so responsible and resonates with your patrons. I think that your viewers respect and respond to the genuine humility and joy which you exhibit when speaking about the new YouTube/Patreon world you’ve found yourself in.

Regarding your father’s painting...I was able to print out the one you provided - it’s small, but it’s beautiful (despite my printer needing more ink). :) I’ve framed it and hung it up next to a framed printout of one of the Lady and the Unicorn images I found online...and near my gorgeous Lalande card that you sent. I really am creating a Lalande gallery wall! :) Next up: I am making prints of “beautiful porcelain is good for the soul and body,” something you said in an older video & it was so “me” that I had to make a print hahaha, and I’m making one of “This kitchen is for dancing” because...well, every kitchen needs more dancing. :) Also - what you said about not remembering the date of you dad’s passing - I lost my dad in 2017, my mom in 2009 (I’m only four years older than you). I don’t remember the dates of their passing, either...I just refuse to remember. It took a long time to process both deaths and a great deal to get to a point where I could remember good times, and I’m finally starting to put out photos from when they were younger & be able to think about various memories. So I am totally with you regarding willfully forgetting the date of your dad’s passing...what’s important to remember is his life & everything you shared with him. 💕

Anonymous

Oh!! Thanks for the explanation about what happens with patron numbers at the 1st of the month. But I am still excited as we are now 3/4 of the way to 11,000.😂🤣

Anonymous

Thank you for the shout out for the fan page! 🙏 I have to say... you have the LOVELIEST souls as fans, Stephanie!!! It's SO much fun meeting everyone and reading comments and stories. Michael is getting well deserved love too!! ❤️ I vote keep the goals! It's fun to know what needs attention and what's coming next!! And the gift opening is like Christmas every week. I get my "gorgeous fabric inspiration" fix!! Those aprons!!! 😍❤️

Anonymous

Nic is one of the owners of the Chateau de Lalande. Steph mentioned his comment. Really neat that you commented that he is jealous. Hmmmmm…. jealous, he contributed to the buying of it. Really neat of you to suggest that.

Anonymous

Does the Chateau host high teas? They would be gorgeous on the terrace or one day in the completed walled gardens! I'd make a trip to France just for that!!!

Anonymous

😥 I am one of those who has not received her card yet and have been a patreon for more than 3 months so I hope it comes soon. I wondered if I was on the list that you did not have addresses for❓Hope it comes soon 😁😁

Anonymous

You are a treasure! Thank you for all your beautiful positive energy! You always have the prettiest dresses! I would love for you to do a closet tour and give a little explanation of your style and where you like to shop etc...

Anonymous

I love your honesty and how free you are with your answers about your private life. I especially loved looking at the view of the chapel today- such a peaceful site. good luck with buying the mower what ever you decide. x

Anonymous

My card arrived the other day, and I have to say it made my whole week! And it smelled delicious! These videos have been a huge source of comfort and joy over the past few months...

Anonymous

Great vlog just noticing the church framed beautifully. Such a precisely built structure. Just listening to Tandy's comment and thinking how lucky we are to still be around when so many are not. Have a wonderful week everyone.

Anonymous

I lost my mom in June 2009 as well, and I too have forgotten the exact date. I know it’s in the first week of June, but mom wouldn’t want me dwelling on that day either

Anonymous

All of the personalities from you, Gerald, Isabel & Percy, Marie, and Michael Petherick - and Potts... sure hoping you’re all able to celebrate a reunion soon!🙏🌸

Anonymous

Ahhhh...yes! This was what I saw as well...and the 2 seeming to turn to 3, and the ace of spades, also powerful symbolism. Made me wonder if this was a commemoration of the beginning of life together as three. My therapist background coming through as well!

Anonymous

In some ways I will be sad when lockdown has ended and we will go back to only getting 3 videos a week instead of 5. Your videos bring so much joy and I always look forward to the days they come out. Thanks for all your hard work!

Anonymous

Thank you so much Stephanie - I very much appreciate the time you spend on the Q&A. You also answered my question about ticks. Everyone asks such lovely interesting questions and I come up with the 'backwoods' question -not very classy but I do wonder about everytime I see the long grass. I liked the Bitter Greens comment and am tempted to order that book too. You may also like Queen of Four Kingdoms by Princess Michael of Kent though it took forever to get a copy shipped to me in Canada. I ended getting a softcover from the Netherlands. I love your joy, sense of humour and your generosity. I received my Lalande card. I was soooooo excited to open it. J put it in a glass cabinet in our bedroom and then noticed the lovely scent realizing you had sprayed them with your Eau de Parfum. Very special indeed. I hope Percy will be able to fly up soon for both of them and us all - we sure do miss that sweet man and of course dear Gerry too. TTFN.

Anonymous

Stephanie, I received my postcard!! I emailed you photos of the most historic place in my town with a bit of history. I think it would be neat if all the patrons were able to do the same and post it on a page where we can all share. I’ve been watching you for so long...I’m absolutely thrilled for all the excitement at Lalande! I adore everyone at Lalande! 🏰🥂🦚💕

Anonymous

I am looking forward to visiting La Lande. You deserve the success with Patreon and youtube. These blogs are a ray of sunshine in a world which is very dark and stormy. Thank you Stephanie, Isabelle et al.

Anonymous

My little sister died in June also and like you I don't keep the date. In the first years I would take that day off work and lie in my bed and zone out but then I heard my sister asking me what the hell I was doing, get up and live your life !! She was full of fun and energy so thinking sad thoughts was so not who she was. xoxo

Anonymous

Stephanie... Rev.com are great for subtitles, believe they have just made an agreement with YouTube and can work straight off of your video so should be straightforward so long as they offer a French translation service. Barry

You should invest in a wood chipper and make mulch for your rose beds and you can also use the chippings in your compost heap. xoxo

Hi Stephanie. Just letting you know My card arrived yesterday. It had to come all the way to a rural area outside Brisbane, Australia. I knew it would take a while to get to me, especially at the moment. It’s so nice to have something so personalised from you and mummy and I will treasure it. Thank you 🥰

Anonymous

I did not find the link to the fanclub at facebook, can someone please post it to me? :-)

Anonymous

I too haven’t had mine I’m just presuming it’s down to postal delays now the UK don’t deliver on Saturdays.

Anonymous

Stephanie, Thank you for answering my question regarding how you prepare for your vlogs. The reason I asked is because I finally went to university at 55 and listening to the way that you talk about things with reference to authors and quotes really helped me to get my head around writing essays. I love writing but had been struggling as I was trying to be “serious” rather than “creative”

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, I am wondering about your fountain in the courtyard. Do you not have it on all the time? Is it expensive to keep it running?

Anonymous

Hello Stephanie, how did you become involved with the Escape to The Chateau DIY series?

Anonymous

Thank you Stephanie. Always a joy to watch your vlogs. You will have seen on Instagram that my card arrived today. Thank you, truly thrilled! Xx

Anonymous

Looking through Paterson’s manager I don’t blame you for the confusion 😭 export your relationship manager tab to excel. From there write “= lifetime/donation” in the next column over. Create a table, and sort first by paid /not paid, and second from bottom up of the paid patrons. That does let a couple of scenarios through the cracks but it’s a good start 🌟.

Anonymous

Thank you Stephanie for the lovely photos of Thor. We are June 4th and the Patreon account is already at $10,768.........the $11K is just around the corner!!!!! Je vous aime xx.

setting goals never felt presumptuous to me. Thank you for sharing your life with us and setting goals that we could make happen :)

Thank you as always Stephanie for your videos here on Patreon and on YouTube. They really have been such a comfort during lockdown.

Is that a new Royal Copenhagen mug?

Anonymous

If you ever get the chance, do visit Prince Charles’ gardens at Highgrove. Was reminded of them when you mentioned garden rooms. When I die, I want to come back as a bee there!

Anonymous

I 100% love that you put the goals at every $1000, and don’t think it is presumptuous at all! I love watching your page hit the goals. I don’t feel any pressure or stress over it. In fact, I wish you’d put two or three goals up at $1000 increments at a time so I have more to look forward to!

Anonymous

Please don't stop with anything you are doing!!! I really like the gift opening and I absolutely love the patreon goals at $1000 and the vlogs as you do them. I will cry a little if you change too much. I understand that you will at one time downsize videos (if you can't find an assistant editor that is) but everything else is so wonderful and dreamy!!!

Anonymous

You are without a doubt, the most chipper happy full of positivity person I think I have ever seen! Honestly that is what keeps me coming back to your vlogs if nothing else. It seems nothing gets you down, and you seem to be able to find the silver lining in every little thing. I love how you find joy in the smallest thing, right down to the new baby chick! I find your vlogs very educational in the arts, museums, travel, gardening and everything to do with the chateau. I fancy myself an artist and professional paper hanger (though now retired) so I love all the wallpaper and fabrics you have there in the chateau. Anyway I think this is more a fan letter than anything, I just love everything about your chateau, and your sweet family. My small donation to the cause may not be a lot, but I am happy to contribute and the goal is to come and visit you! Thank you for sharing your life with us!

Anonymous

I found some examples of your father's works on Google yesterday. Wow! Thank you for sharing him with us.

Hello Stephanie. This link was in a National Trust newsletter I received the other day and I thought you might be interested to see it. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/features/scents-and-sensuality-stories-of-roses-in-our-collections?campid=email_central_Newsletter_04062020_Sub2bMEMNONFAM

Thank you for telling us all about the Facebook page - it's so wonderful to share there and just another way we can all share our love and joy for all things Chateau....but of course, our fave is Chateau LaLande! And your effervescent joy for life! Again, thanks for sharing!!!

Anonymous

hi stephanie!!!!! i'm 19 and i'm from toronto, canada 👋🏼😊 i was wondering; you always seem so wonderfully positive, happy, and just excited by life, which i wholeheartedly admire and adore. do you ever get emotional or quite upset about things pertaining to chateau life? i was just thinking the other day "my goodness i don't think i could ever imagine her crying or angry!" lol. i hope that doesn't sound like a weird question haha i'm just curious about the more "real" (for lack of a better word because i know that you are very real) side of chateau life :)) love you!!!!! ❤️

Anonymous

I am so happy to have become a patron, I am in NY without my husband and you have literally I think kept me from losing my mind. We so hope to come and visit sometime. Hopefully next year. Mummy and Michael and Gerry are all fantastic people. Its wonderful to see all the improvements happening.

Anonymous

Hello Stephanie, first things first signing up to your patreon has been one of my best quarantine decisions so far. Me and my family love watching you and all your friends on escape to the Chateau D.I.Y and when i found your youtube channel i was elated. I don't really have a question per say but more of a possible video idea (not that i don't love all of you videos, regardless of its content) but have you ever considered doing a 'day in the life' where you show everything you do from the morning to evening in more depth (not in a creepy way but just so we as your audience can get to know more about you and your wonderful life at Lalande). Also if its not to much to ask I personally would love to see more of the behind the scenes of the business. I want to say a big thank you, to you and everyone at the Chateau for opening you doors and lives to us viewers.

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, I have just moved back to Essex from lovely Framlingham. Even more of a coincidence is I've just watched your live vlog with Michael and you said you used to live in Little Bealings! I rent an office in Little Bealings in the converted railway station. It truly is my most favourite place. When your next in the area give me a shout x

Anonymous

Do you think you’ll tackle the servants quarters next now that there’s more income, exposure and people wanting to volunteer? Or has your list of projects you want to work on shift slightly because of the opportunity to actually start them? X😊♥️

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, will you post the plans for the courtyard?

Anonymous

Hi Steph! As a Yank, I can't watch Escape to the chateau! (So bummed!) But I'm still curious how you got on the show and what filming is like from your end. Any good behind the scenes stories?

Anonymous

Hello Denise. Try searching for Escape to The Chateau and Escape to The Chateau DIY on YouTube.

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, you were talking about doing some merchandise the other week. I think a coffee table book with before and after photos of the chateau with a bit of history would be brilliant.

Anonymous

Stephanie, I am so excited by the Opera on the Lawn idea. Do you think that you and your music/orchestra workshop friends will be able to put on one Opera a year? Possibly patrons could plan a year in advance to attend? It could be a ticketed event to raise funds for the lake if that goal has not already been reached! We are very close to the 12,000 dollar mark this is so exciting :D

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie I’m very curious about the orchard. I would love to see an abundance of fruits and healthy trees you all could pick from and create even more jummy dishes. You mentioned once that the sheep destroyed your painstaking efforts. When will you focus on that area?

Anonymous

I was going to suggest a beautiful "moon garden" on that side of the Chateau next to the Chapel. But, I had heard you actually mention that was already a plan in one of your latest videos lol. Great minds think alike. Can't wait to see it become a reality!

Anonymous

OMG! Stephanie your fathers birthday is the same date as MY fathers! It appears we both had the same love of beauty, the old world charms and art. I had goosebumps when you said the date!. I too suffered horribly at his loss and it took me several years to come to terms with it. I was his first and eldest daughter. he always gave me little antiques as well as focus on his birthday only! I cherish our times together and feel grateful for the time we did have. When I was little we travel the UK, Scotland,Europe,Italy and Greece in an old Postie van. also Egypt. From when you first spoke of your father I thought of my dad. Please understand I appreciate your loss Stephanie xo as well as your mothers. What a blessing that Percy was able to come into Your mothers life..

Anonymous

That's a lovely idea about your fathers paintings.. Thankyou Stephanie XO
