Love and Respect: Hello Allies, I was wondering how you personally game/ what is your preferred gaming setup like? Do you like to game from a couch or a gaming chair? Do you play off a monitor or do you play on a TV? If a TV what type (brand, LED, OLED, size, etc)? Do you use headphones, sound bar regular speakers, etc for your sound? And is there anything you would like to change or upgrade for your personal gaming space? Love and Respect, Chris Eyerly

Hello Allies, Some friends and I were having a discussion and I was wondering if you could help us define the answer to what defines a standalone game? The question revolved around how many games were in the Grand Theft Auto series. The answer according to one person noted that expansions like The Ballad of Gay Tony & The Lost and the Damned are standalone games. But are they really? They’re made in the same engine and utilize largely the same assets and gameplay but just have a different story. I have a hard time seeing these as their own separate standalone games from GTAIV as opposed expansions, just like I don’t consider Blood and Wine its own separate game from The Witcher 3. But at the same time, I DO consider Miles Morales its own game separate from Spider-Man even though it too largely uses the same city assets and layout and general gameplay. But that also seems to be splitting hairs. So I ask you - Where do we draw the line and what makes a game like this standalone, compared to a simple expansion? Please help us decide. Thanks kindly for reading my submission if you do and stay easy, fellow allies. Love and Respect, ~ Wes

Greetings Allies! Waiting can be absolutely excrutiating, even moreso when its for a sequel to a game you just adored. With so many games finally getting sequels and reboots years after the originals, like Psychonauts 2, Tears of the Kingdom, Diablol 4, and more on the horizon, like Final Fantasy 16 and Alan Wake 2, I've listed 12 pairs of games that all had quite a long wait between each release. And I've rounded up to years for these, no silly "1 week longer than this one" stuff. Good luck, L&R & Sorry Enforcer, spongejay1 Marvel vs. Capcom 2 & 3 (11 years) Streets of Rage 3 & 4 (26 years) Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters & Uprising (21 years) Super Mario Kart & Mario Kart 64 (4 years) Super Smash Bros Melee & Brawl (7 years) Psychonauts 1 & 2 (16 years) Fallout 2 & Fallout 3 (10 years) Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel & Borderlands 3 (5 years) Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc & Rayman Origins (8 years) Pilotwings 64 & Pilotwings Resort (14 years) Pikmin 2 & 3 (9 years) Duke Nukem 3D & Duke Nukem Forever (15 years)

Hello everyone and Happy (belated) Birthday EZA! Inspired by the seventh anniversary of the current seven, I'm inspired to ask: In your opinion, what has been your favorite celebration or acknowledgement of an anniversary you've seen in games, whether it be streams, in-game events, special retail editions or something else entirely? Personally, the 25th FF VII Anniversary stream is my gold standard. Thanks for taking this submission if you do and stay Easy fellow Allies!

Hey Allies, [Let's Play A Game!] With this podcast being recorded for Mar 31 that got me thinking: To you and I this might be the end of 2023 Q1, but for video game companies that might not be true. Thanks to the weird corporate nexus dimension companies exist in, their financial years don't always match our human timeline. So! Can the Allies guess which companies "Live in the Past", "Live in the Now" or "Live in the Future"? As examples, {Amazon and Alphabet}: both "Live in the Now" because their fiscal year aligns with the calendar year. Meanwhile, {Microsoft}: "Lives in the Future" because Mar 31st marks the end of their FY 2023 Q3 instead of our 2023 Q1. {Atari SA}: "Lives in the Future" (Mar 31st=end of FY 2024 Q1 - Yes, they're a full year ahead) {CD Projekt SA}: "Lives in the Now" {Dontnod Entertainment}: "Lives in the Now" {Remedy Entertainment}: "Lives in the Now" {Capcom}: "Lives in the Past" (end of FY 2022 Q4) {Bandai Namco}: "Lives in the Future" (end of FY 2023 Q4) {Koei Tecmo}: "Lives in the Past" (end of FY 2022 Q3) {Konami}: "Lives in the Future" (end of FY 2023 Q4) {Square Enix}: "Lives in the Past" (end of FY 2022 Q4) {Nintendo}: "Lives in the Future" (end of FY 2023 Q4) {GameStop}: "Lives in the Now" {Unity Software}: "Lives in the Now" {Take Two Interactive}: "Lives in the Future" (end of FY 2023 Q4) {Devolver Digital}: "Lives in the Now" {EA}: "Lives in the Future" (end of FY 2023 Q4) {Ubisoft}: "Lives in the Future" (end of FY FY 2023 Q4) {Activision Blizzard}: "Lives in the Now" {Tencent Holdings}: "Lives in the Now" {Embracer Group}: "Lives in the Past" (end of FY 2022 Q4) Source = Adding +1 fiscal quarter to the following citation: https://i0.wp.com/workingcasual.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Working-Casual-Earnings-Calendar-Jan-Feb-2023.png?ssl=1

Greetings! Recently WB came out and said Rumble Versus has been in beta for the past year. Despite being a “beta” they were still able to charge players for additional content. I hope companies don’t start treating betas like full releases. Not only that, the game won multiple fighting game of the year awards. Are beta’s eligible for awards? I thought they weren’t. Many outlets say remakes and remasters aren’t eligible for game of the year, yet rumble versus still won awards.

L&R Allies! I recently tried Grounded Mode for the first time in TLOU Part II. I never played it because I thought it would be too frustrating to me, but overall I think the gameplay is much improved. The highly observant enemies, no listen mode and minimal resources make it much more challenging, but not to the point that it's impossible. It also pushes me to be more respectful of the enemies since both infected and humans are so dangerous. The satisfaction of each kill is also heightened, especially when you stealth kill a clicker, and when you successfully score a headshot with the very limited amount of bullets you have. My question for y'all, what are your favorite hard modes in games and why are they so good?

Gang, how are we feeling about these Avatar game leaks? First-person shooter? Who thought that’d be the best direction for this series?

Hey all Allies assembled, a while back Huber started a Darkest Dungeon stream and it triggered something in me, an insistent gnawing in the back of my mind. I had done a playthrough of my own, beating the game on 'Darkest' but moving on without Platinuming it. The trophy for 'Stygian' difficulty seemed beyond me, but now I felt a need to return, and decided to make an attempt at it. It ended as I expected... in failure, but the experience showed me it wasn't as difficult as I had imagined. I made another attempt and, on the 85th week out of 86 allowed, cleared the final mission. I'm really glad I returned to the game, playing it on this higher difficulty was an exciting experience, there were so many moments where things nearly fell apart. Victories won by the slimmest of margins. And the Deaths Door mechanic, where you don't die at 0 hp but have a percentage chance to survive each time, makes things so intense. High Stakes. Do any of you have a game that you hope to return to one day, not just to replay something familiar, but something that felt unfinished? A challenge you didn't meet the first time, but perhaps someday... Also, I don't know why but I wrote a poem using lines from the Narrator. The match is struck. A blazing star is born! In radiance may we find victory. As the light gains purchase, spirits are lifted and purpose is made clear. Barbaric rage and unrelenting savagery make for a powerful ally. To those with a keen eye, gold gleams like a dagger's point. What better laboratory than the blood-soaked battlefield? Can the defiled be consecrated? Can the fallen find rest? Grievous injury, palpable fear... The abyss returns even the boldest gaze. And now the true test... hold fast, or expire? The blood pumps, the limbs obey! Many fall in the face of chaos, but not this one. Not today. Soothed, sedated... OBLITERATED! - brought low and driven into the mud! Their cursed champion falls! Another abomination cleansed from our lands. These nightmarish creatures can be felled! They can be beaten! Glittering gold, trinkets and baubles - paid for in blood. Impressive haul! ...If you value such things. Success, so clearly in view. Or, is it merely a trick of the light? Dedicated to the Bounty Hunter who survived 4 heart attacks to get me to the end, the Vestal who gave up as soon as she was tested, the Arbalest that got stressed out with nothing to shoot at, and the Crusader who just kept swinging until the Thing was dead. Love and Respect. Terror... and Madness. VicRattler

Hello Allies With all the success of the recent remakes, do you think we'll start reaching a point of remaking the remakes? Resident Evil remake is one of my favourite games of all time but if they decided to remake it, I wouldn't be mad. Maybe in 10 years they'll decide to re-remake Last of Us Part 1. What do you think? Hey Allies, Let’s play a game! This one’s called “Just Your Basic Street Fight.” How well do you know your fighting game characters? I’ve selected 24 of the most basic, plain-Jane, boring “American” sounding names. You tell me if there is a fighting game character with that name. A bonus point if you can name the game series it’s from. Another bonus point if you can name any additional games that have a character with that name. {Or don't count points at all, because who really cares?} (I’ve included last names, where appropriate.) Round 1, Fight! Ken (Masters – Street Fighter, Amada – Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the Eagle – Tatsunoko vs. Capcom) Jill (Valentine – Marvel vs. Capcom) Steve (Fox – Tekken) Sonya (Blade – Mortal Kombat) Bob (Richards – Tekken, Wilson – KOF) Matt – None Seth (Street Fighter, KOF, Under Night In-Birth) Leo (Kliesen – Tekken, Whitefang – Guilty Gear, Red Earth) Frank (West – Marvel vs. Capcom) Roy (Bromwell – Rival Schools) Sam – None Lilly/Lili (Street Fighter 6, Rochefort – Tekken, Kane – KOF) Jack (Tekken, World Heroes, Power Stone, Turner – Art of Fighting, Jack-O – Guilty Gear, Jacky Bryant – Virtua Fighter) Let’s end with some Allies, past and present: Ben – None Brad (Burns – Virtua Fighter, Wong – Dead Or Alive) Brandon – None Dan (Hibiki, Street Fighter) (No Daniel) Don – None Gabby – None Kyle – None Michael (Max – Fatal Fury) Mike (Street Fighter 1, Haggar – Marvel vs. Capcom) Isla (You know this one – KOF, but pronounced differently) But is there an Ian? - Nope I hope this game took you for a ride. Love and Respect, -Eric **All based on the Characters list found on FightersGeneration.com

Hey Allies, What’s your favourite unwritten rule from a game? By that, I mean a rule that the community came up with but isn’t actually designed into the game. As an example, one of the only multiplayer games I regularly play is Rocket League and there’s an unwritten rule simply known as “Rule 1” where if you and an opponent accidentally accelerate into each other head on and become stuck, you’re not allowed to steer or reverse out of it, and must keep accelerating into each other until you get bumped out of it by someone else or a goal is scored. Of course there’s no actual downside to breaking the rule outside of shaming the person, but it’s a fun rule that most players tend to abide by. What are your favourites, if you have any? Hello Allies, What is a game of a specific genre that you compare to all games in that genre? For me, puzzle games will always be compared to Myst, shoutout to Isla for being another Myst fan, one of my favorite games of all time. I would also base my thoughts on puzzle games to my feeling when playing Myst, and most never really come close, with the exception on Obduction, for obvious reasons. Resident Evil 2 for survival horror, Super Metroid to Metroidvania, the list goes on. What are some of the allies gold standard of their favorite genres?

(I expect this will be a main discussion topic so ignore if there's too much overlap) The news that E3 2023 has been cancelled is really bumming me out... the event has clearly been in decline for some time now, but I have such fond memories of some of the great press conferences and all the hype and media coverage surrounding the event. What are some of the panels fondest memories from E3 and what is their all-time favourite Press Conference? Love & Respect, Bynoe
