Yo!

This week is a very special EZX edition of Frame Trap!

I have no idea who the guests will be yet or what games we'll be talking about besides Resident Evil 4 Remake so feel free to share things like your favorite Easy Allies memories or any other random thoughts as well! Also taking Sort It Out! and Keep It Up! suggestions as always.

-Please keep your questions, thoughts, or ideas focused and brief. Be sure to include your preferred name if you don't like the one here on Patreon.

Thank You!

Good evening. I listened to last week's podcast and with the talk breath of the wild, it reminded me there's one thing about game that is absent unlike every other Zelda game (pretty much). No fishing, it makes so much sense to my mind and I hope they bring it back in years of the kingdom. So really quick, what's your favorite iteration of fishing in a Zelda game? Thanks

Favorite Easy Allies memory is Jones singing Powerman 5000 at Ben Moore and kind of confusing everyone.

With Spider-Man 2 being rumored for a September release date, do you think Xbox moves Starfield? Favorite EZA memory will always be: Brandon Plays Pokémon. Such a great concept that I wish there was more of. Keep It Up: Open beta/Demos. I know you’ve gotten this one a lot lately but I gotta bring it up again as Diablo IV’s beta introduced me to the franchise and now I’m buying the game. So way to go Blizzard. Sort It Out: Games that require you to make a brand account just to play it even if you’re playing it solo and offline.

Hello Allies, I wanted to ask what games have made you change the way you play games? For example, thanks to sekiro I have learned to better parry attacking other games. Thanks to Dark souls I have learned to be patient. Thanks to Hi Fi rush it has helped me have a rhythm in games.

Daryl Rodriguez

I know other people will ask, but I’ll say it as well: Where does Resident Evil go from here? What will 9 be? Reimagine 6? Remake 5 first, or go back to 1 again? I’ll take anything. They’re on fire.

Hello! When a remaster of a game comes out, and is generally the same game as before but maybe with a few additions, do you consider that as replaying the old game, or consider that has playing a new game? What is it has a different name? Curious since all the games I'm hyped for this year are remasters, Metroid Prime: Remastered, Yakuza Ishin, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, GrimGrimoire Oncemore, and Megaman Battle Network collection.

So I just finished RE4 and I can’t find a single thing I didn’t like about it. They took one of the greatest games ever and made it better! Really wanna shout out the enemy designs especially the Novistadores (Bugs), and Garradores (blind monster). Everything has just been translated so perfectly. Remake Code Veronica next Capcom!

Sage_Mode_Q

Favorite Frame Trap memory will always be Noodles and Broth specifically the Devil Trigger episode. Shout out Ben Moore. You are missed so much. God I wanna hear his thoughts on RE4

Hi Allies, I'm happy to see everyone having a great time with RE4 Remake, but I've never actually played a Resident Evil game myself. This is one of my greatest gaming sins. I'd like to do a playthrough of the full mainline series, but this is an intimidating undertaking. Would you recommend starting from the beginning or just jumping in now with the shiny new remake of 4? Love and Respect as always. Here's to 7 more years.

Sort it out! Video games need to stop limiting the number of save slots and allow you to have as many saves as your free space allows. I want to be able to easily go back to my favorite moments, not to desperately think with save to overwrite next. Sort it out, please.

Hi allies! I have been playing Tchia since it released, and I can't help but be enamoured by the musical sections in the game. It's relatively straightforward rhythm gameplay, but there's quite a lot of work being put into the actual songs themselves, and the cinematography of the scenes that accompanies them. It's a fun and jolly way of showcasing the culture of New Caledonia, the game's inspiration, by making us partake in it. This, and other activities in the game, makes it feel more like a virtual tourism game rather than just a typical open world. I was wondering if you guys have any other examples of games that achieves a similar tourism feel to this, or if you guys have any ideas of places that would be perfect to be used for a tourism game like this. L&R!

Hey Allies. Sorry for the long post, but its EZAnniversary week so i just randomly think about my whole journey with EZA up to now. Like many people, my first exposure with the gang is the last guardian/ff7 remake/shenmue 3 hype video. I remember thinking these trailers are nice, but this Huber guy is hyped as shit. I then found out about easy allies and slowly watch all yall's content. This was back in mid 2017 and i was moving oversea for college. Your L&R attitude and the welcoming community helped me overcome many of my own struggles during a period when i have few people around. Thankfully, since 2021, i have been blessed with a stable job and income that allow me to give back what yall have given me, albeit only financially. I'm not very good with word so i cant express enough how much your works have helped me, so i'm just gonna say Keep it up allies. This glass of healthy water is to you

Hi Allies, Do you feel videogame remakes should be held to a higher standard than they currently are? I've been rifling through the RE4 Remake, and in my opinion, it seems like more of a reworking of the original rather than a proper remake. By comparison, I think RE2 is an ideal remake because the way it's presented is totally different from the original 1998 game. I don't think Dead Space is a proper remake either, besides the improvements to the story and the visuals-I find the gameplay to be largely unchanged from the 2008 original.

Hi Allies! Can RE4 Remake be eligible for GOTY? Or remakes in general? In my mind I tend to draw a line between remakes and reimaginings. Remakes like Dead Space or TLoU Part I are not welcome to the GOTY party, but reimaginings like FFVII and RE2 are, because they've simply done more to separate themselves from the original games. I'm still on the fence about RE4 (currently in the castle section), but I'd say it's "just" a remake. Still feels like a 10/10, don't get me wrong. L&R, Ville Ranto / Sentinel Beach

Hey Allies, While the RE2 and 3 remakes were very well received (especially RE2), there was definitely more of a feeling among fans that RE4 didn't need the remake treatment, already having the third-person view and being such a legendary game. But the remake is here and it turned out simply amazing, and of course, the original is still always there for revisiting. The original Dead Space is another great game, with an amazing remake that arguably wasn't necessary, but welcome by most nonetheless. On the flip side of the remake discussion, there's the recent The Last of Us Part 1 remake and the rumoured Horizon Zero Dawn remake, both of which were met with heavy doubt and criticism whether it's worthwhile for the respective studios to dedicate so much time and money remaking already great recent games. I loved TLoU1 remake, but is the remake always worth it if the end result is a top tier game? What do you think is the key factor behind some remake announcements being met with such excitement while others are viewed with pessimism? Love and respect, always

Hi Allies, I have pledged $10 every month since the beginning and have never regretted it once! If I explained to my friends how much in total that is they might ask if I was crazy. I’m curious as to what the panel has spent money on that they don’t regret but would have a hard time explaining to others? L&R Ryan Emmett

[Game: Guess the games with the highest first year revenues of all time!] Hi Allies, Today I have a relatively straightforward game for you. Guess which games had the highest revenue of all time in their first 12 months. The numbers are mostly based on reported earnings with a couple having estimated earnings on top of that as well. I've linked the source at the end of the message. Anyway, let's get to it: (To Brad: let the panel guess the games and how much they've made at first and then provide hints if needed. Thanks!) 1. Genshin Impact - 3.7 Billion USD (2.3 Bil reported + 1.4 Bill estimated) 2. Fortnite - 2.8 Billion USD (2.3 Bil reported + 0.5 Bill estimated) 3. GTA V - 2.1 Billion USD 4. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 - 2.05 Billion USD 5. Animal Crossing New Horizons - 2.0 Billion USD 6. Red Dead Redemption 2 - 1.65 Billion USD 7. Monster Strike - 1.5 Billion USD 8. Candy Crush - 1.35 Billion USD 9. Puzzle & Dragons - 1.3 Billion USD 10. PUBG - 1.25 Billion USD 11. Lineage M - 1.2 Billion USD 12. Hey Allies, Just a couple quick questions about RE 4 remake I feel like I haven't got an answer for. First the island portion of the game, did they fix/ make it better than the original? I know most people tend to have the most criticism on that section of the game. 2nd, was there anything taken out or changed in the remake you liked more or preferred in the original? Thanks, Chris Eyerly

RE4 Remake has been a blast but I wish they had Jill's dodge from 3 Remake. I do think that it's cool that both characters have their own defensive mechanic though, so if Capcom decides on remaking either Code Veronica or RE5, what defensive mechanic would you want Chris to have? Same question goes for Claire or Sheva.

Hello Brad and Frame Trap Panel, Happy Anniversary and congrats on 7 amazing years! Y’all are awesome (Keep It Up!) Now to the question - It’s always the best when a good bargain comes your way and you walk away after a purchase feeling amazing; like you really came out on top of a purchase with a solid steal. So, I was curious - what are some of your most memorable video game bargains that left you feeling like you lucked into an amazing find at an exceptional, almost unbelievably great price? Thanks for taking my question if you do. Love and Respect!

I haven't played Undertale, I have no interest in playing Undertale. But there are certain tracks from it that get me very emotional because Kenny Omega came out to a remix to them for what was maybe his last New Japan Pro Wrestling match. His pursuit of the IWGP heavyweight belt is the story that got me into wrestling. Are there any games you haven't played but have an emotional connection to? Quick RE4 question. Do you prefer the riot shotgun or the striker shotgun? The riot gun looks cooler to me and call me crazy, but it seems to have more oof to it.

Hey allies I’ve been loving RE4 remake but watching Digital Foundry, it’s been in the back of my mind that the visuals and performance aren’t as good as they could be. Do you think devs should put more emphasis on this before release? It’s a little frustrating knowing the experience will be better a few more patches down the road. Love and respect! Dinesh

Hi, have you ever seen the RE4 Zeebo Edition? I stumbled upon this in the Wikipedia article for RE4 and was speechless. Look at it https://youtu.be/BWkCPQG-6bg By the way, it seems like we are, with this generation or the last generation, over the idea to make special versions of popular games for some strange systems, except VR versions. Do you think this is for the better? L&R Snaqe.
