A BalloonDoll Sex doll! A look at the Emi Doll Project (Patreon)

Intro

If only she were real...

I've read this comment dozens if not hundreds of times (and thought so myself more than once!), and of course not just regarding Emi, but with all the Balloondolls at one point or another.

Until a few weeks back, I never really gave it much thought other than it being an awesome fantasy to mull over from time to time, until I had a few conversations with some very fervent fans who kept bringing up the idea of actually creating one of the Balloondolls girls as a sex doll.

Now, to be totally honest, this wasn't the first time I have thought about it. Ever since I saw a realdoll over a decade ago I always thought, "...but what about a doll with an XL bust?" which spurred me back then to actually write a few companies about it, without ever getting a clear response back from any of them. At that point in time, I figured it was just a fun pipe dream, and let the idea fade away. At least, until just a while ago!

So, fast forward to the near present, and I had these conversations I previously mentioned. Which spurred me on to start doing some serious research once again.

After looking through various doll maker sites, going through doll owners' forums for customer's experiences with different companies and their products, I came upon a doll manufacturer based in China called WM Dolls. After browsing their site, I noticed one of the dolls they offer has actually made the rounds in tumblr more than once with some people mistaking it for a real girl. Further browsing of their site brought my attention over to something awesome: they create bigger bust dolls, with some going up to H cups.

Now, at that point I found it super interesting, although there was a hitch: the breasts for their dolls look incredibly saggy and natural looking. So right off the bat, I knew I had to contact them to see if they'd be interested in working with me, and help me bring about more expansive designs to a finalized creation.

Long story short: after many back and forth emails, reference images, measurements, explanations and clarifications, and tons of production questions on my end , I've reached a point with the manufacturer that we can actually create a doll!

First off, why Emi?

Seriously though, after all the talks I've had with the manufacturer, it comes down to materials.

WM Dolls (link to their site here, I highly encourage you to check out the site to see all the available features their base dolls come with, as all base specs would be included with the Emi doll, also check out their galleries, the dolls they've created so far are the reason I've chosen them as a manufacturer) create their dolls using a material called TPE (short for Thermoplastic Elastomer),a blend of plastics that produces a very skin-like material, with more resilience than the usual silicone used for most dolls when the blend is created and cured properly.

For our purposes, that means TPE is actually a decent fit for bigger breasted dolls. Since bigger = heavier, more resilience is not only a plus, but a bare necessity.

When I initially approached the manufacturer, I went for bust, right off the bat, and sent in references for Cali and Hitome. This is when it became clear that breasts that big couldbe currently impossible without risking the doll's chest tearing.

So, we have Emi. While by no means small by realistic standards, she is "small" enough that her breasts can be created appropriately.

Also, at Emi's size, she'd be one of the dolls (if not the only one) with the biggest breasts ever made (so far!), so hey, a possible record breaker!

Projected Specs

Check out the attached image for Emi's doll measurements. Much like the actual character, she will be petite, standing at 5'1'' with a weight of around 30 kgs (~66 lbs).

The one very interesting offering with WM dolls is actually the standing aspect. As in yes, the doll is planned to be able to stand on her own! I don't want to count this feature in completely yet until a prototype has been finalized, however, since thanks to her assets she may have a rather wonky center of gravity!

As for the doll herself, she will be fully poseable (within reason, if you can't bend a real human a specific way, don't expect to bend the doll like that without risking damage to it) and offer both anal and vaginal entries, with the option of removable internals for easier cleanup.

How?

Stage 1: Clay Sculpting and Mold Creation

The first step is to take Emi from digital vixen to a real clay statue. The statue is then used to create the mold for the doll itself. The sculpting will be overseen by myself to ensure proper and accurate recreation.

Stage 2: Casting the first prototype

After the mold is finished, the next step is creating the first series of Emi dolls. The first series is comprised of creating an estimate 3-5 dolls, one by one, and subjecting them to appropriate internal testing. After the manufacturer creates the finalized prototype from this series, a series of videos are done to demonstrate the doll. After final approval, the prototype is finally shipped.

Stage 3: The Emi doll, ready for retail.

Once the prototype is done and finalized and I have been able to verify its quality, she will finally be ready for sale, with production being scaled appropriately to demand.

The total production time to arrive to this stage is between 3-4 months after work has begun, with the possibility of an earlier date if production runs smoothly.

Looking Forward: Challenges and some Real Talk

Since it's a sex toy, there's No refunds

This one is pretty self explanatory, since all sex toys follow the same rule of thumb. But cases of moderate shipping damage can occur, as well as mishandling or improperly caring for the doll.

Love Dolls require appropriate Care

While some of you may think "Pfft, duh!", bear with me. I've never personally owned a doll, so the actual caring for one is a relatively new subject to me.

Asides from the obvious proper cleaning should you use it, care goes way beyond that. From how she rests when you're not playing with her to how she's bent when being posed and moved, the idea that the doll is a luxury item should always be in the forefront of your thoughts. Anything from inappropriately moving her around to forcing extreme/unnatural poses can not only mess up the doll, but straight up tear apart the TPE material (while built for resilience, it's still a plastic) and/or deform joints (in the case of WM dolls, special care needs to be taken with the hands and feet).

They're pretty damn heavy

One of the things to really keep in mind is the weight of the doll!

These dolls have a strong steel skeleton, which makes them have the considerable weight of 30kg, which is a little over 66 lbs. This doesn't sound like much, but remember it's completely dead weight, so while it's not unmanageable, it further adds to being careful with the doll when moving her around.

This is also something to keep in mind with the proposed standing feature for Emi. While WM dolls can stand on their own when posed properly, I personally wouldn't suggest attempting it just yet, as this is something that will be better looked at after a prototype has been created.

We are pioneering into unknown territory!

On one end, this is very exciting. Like I mentioned previously, Emi is set to have the biggest and roundest breasts any doll has ever had (with a rather respectable butt too!).

But like any adventure into new territory, it has its own dangers. In this case, we will only be able to determine just how much stress breasts as big as Emi's will be able to sustain, how the material will hold up vs breast weight over time in terms of aforementioned stress as well as shape, and just general use and looks overall.

Thankfully, the saving grace in this danger is the money investment. While a doll of this quality is far from cheap, it is projected to have a cost that is only a fraction of what a silicone Realdoll would cost, so it is both an attractive option as a project to work on as well as an end product.

If all else fails, aka the nuclear option

I'm only including this because I believe there should always be a plan set up as an absolute last resort to make sure the project doesn't fall to pieces. A nuclear option, if you will.

Please keep in mind I'm including this JUST as an ultimately last resort, since the manufacturer themselves are completely confident in their ability to fulfill the presented specs. Nonetheless, my first and foremost goal is for the project to succeed while protecting those who support it to the best of my ability.

In this case, the nuclear option would be two dreaded words: breast reduction. Should stress testing, doll rebuilding, resculpting, and further adjustments fail to produce an Emi doll with usable breasts, the aim would be to recreate her in her earlier version before her second operation, when her breasts were around 2000ccs.

The Dirty Details: Pricing, Funding, Funding perks, etc.

When finalized, Emi's retail price is estimated to be set around USD $3,500.00

Every project has its costs, of course, and this one is no different. While I'm still considering releasing the project on Indiegogo, considering the large interest in the project some of you have expressed in this recent BalloonPoll survey, I wanted to turn to our Patreon community first to gauge further interest in helping fund the project before pushing the idea to a larger platform.

The calculated project cost goal to take the idea through all the presented stages is $12,000.00

Following a breakdown of all the people who answered positively in the survey, this goal can be reached with as little as a contribution of around $117 per each of the 102 participants who indicated they'd be interested in one way or another in the project!

Of course, Funding has its perks! The ones I am currently considering for different funding tiers are listed below, and I'd be very happy to hear ideas for other perks from you guys if you have any:
