Dear Kel,

It's been a while, hasn't it?

I should apologize for not writing you in all this time... but I can imagine you waving that away without a care, "The pursuit of knowledge can often leave one oblivious to the passage of time, just remember to feed the fish!"

That's what you used to say, right? Just thinking about how serious you'd look saying that makes me smile even today.

Remember all the time we spent together while we worked on our theses? I fondly remember those times, both while we shared our research and... less academic findings, shall we say?

You know, you were always so supportive, and always knew when to inject some humor into things. Can you recall that nickname you made up to quickly explain away my love for genetics and molecular biology? I do suppose I share some curvature with the standard DNA model, not that I'm complaining!

I still have to thank you. Back then, I thought my looks would never allow me to reach any institution of serious research. Even today you can't imagine how many times I've been explaining a theory or detailing a report to a colleague only to notice they've just been intently puzzling out just how many buttons my dress shirt has :P (I have to admit I've learned to take advantage of that to have project greenlit more than once!)

Regardless, you taught me to appreciate myself... perhaps a little too well, haha... you'll see for yourself soon, and after the initial surprise I can bet you'll be more than a bit thrilled!

All in all, I just had to write you to say how excited I was to have heard you got picked up by FabPharma, even more so when I was notified that you'd been cleared for research in the main facility.

We'll be working side by side! I'm positively bursting with joy, among other things ;)
