Hi everyone,

As I mentioned in the monthly briefing, I wanted to poll this.

Poll is pretty straightforward, if you have a VR headset or some other means of watching these images properly, and would like to see more, you know what to do ;)

If there's enough of you, I'll definitely consider working on more than a few or single piece a month!

Quick query, does the VR operate like sitting inside a spherical stereoscopic image, or does it have limited 6 degrees of freedom?

Anonymous

Hmmm..nope. Animation and flat 3d preffered next few years.

Yes, from my understanding you can pretty much look around without any hindrance (from the source point since it's a still)

In short... i have no VR glasses... so I think it is a loss of time as most of us probably dont have one.

I work with vr and would love to help if you need unity tips/pointers

While I don't have a VR headset and no plans for one right now, this might be something that would encourage me to get one. I'd say to continue to play around with it but probably don't put too much time into now as most people are probably not equipped to experience it.

Hey Jake thanks! Haven't looked at unity in years but it definitely seems to have grown up quite a bit

Could be as easy as just dropping an animated or non animated model into a unity scene, adding a vr camera controller plugin, and then hopping in. Depends on the size/complexity of the model :) Have a HTC Vive, and the hp mixed reality headset so can test for you no worries

Honestly, I think the VR is neat, but I have no way to look at it, and, unless it's a video, I don't really see the point of looking at a static image in VR. If I did, I would be 100% down, but like Hentaibee said, I'd rather see animation and flat 3D for now. :)

Does Unity let you export as an Android apk that could work on Google Cardboard? I'm guessing that would be what most people who want to try out vr would have access to.
