I think I'm going to officially remember this month as the month my work took a significant step forward.

The biggest thing on my end is always skin. Heck, without it I don't think the girls would look very appealing at all :P

As such, I generally take a few days at the beginning of each month to test new techniques in material crafting and texture creation to ramp up the quality of the renders, with (hopefully) improved results over time.

This month was a little different, however, since I feel I hit the sweet spot in making skin look like, well, skin! While obviously not picture perfect, I do think it's a much more faithful approximation than earlier attempts.

It started off with Emi and Hitome, some poses, and some simple lighting. But I quickly decided the biggest challenge I always run into is figuring out a skin material that not only works well in less challenging circumstances, but one that gets that look no matter where I stick the model. So I moved on and stuck Emi in her apartment's bedroom, and well, the renders tell the story from then on as I slowly tweaked the material to a satisfactory state.

From then on, it was time for a pretty daunting task: enter the group shot! After spending about a week re skinning the whole cast, it was time to get the group together. After around 30 or so clothing simulations and getting started on the multi part render (the end piece consists of around 5 XL renders stitched together into a 9000x3000 piece), I ran into something unexpected. My second rig busted its liquid cooling, rendering it unusable for the remainder of the month (side note: if you're unfamiliar with water cooled rigs, it takes a little bit of legwork even finding a tech that is down to mess with the system, since usually water and computer parts don't mix well together).

Thankfully, that's well and fixed, and I got the second rig back in working condition today. But that definitely put a hamper on my rendering for the month, since now I was working at half of the expected power x.x

Well, enough rambling on that. Hopefully you guys like the group shot as much as I do, it's always rather exciting getting together a multi character piece, and considering how the cast has grown lately, it definitely was a fun piece to get through!

Let's see, what else... oh! Well of course things are getting set up for Sadie's transformation start for July (the first polls will be coming up in the next few days!). Asides from that, some pieces featuring the top 3 girls you voted most popular...

Oh, and Hitome's Unreal Desires 3 is coming up next on the production pipeline, cheesy preview poster and everything included in this month's 800cc and Ultra Packs (2000cc pledgers: remember to download the 800cc pack if you don't do so usually so you don't miss out!) :)

For UD3, I'm estimating it'll be another very large set. Since there will be lots of morphing, I think the biggest time hurdle this time around will come down to modeling and compositing over render times, so we'll see how this month goes! At the very least, I'm aiming to have a decent first part of the set ready for the end of July, with a multi part release similar to Cali's Misadventures being the most likely outcome production wise.

Also on the side, I want to work on some implant-specific stuff a bit as well. I think Denise will be a good candidate to perhaps explore some fill up animations (probably Cami too), specially considering we'll be catching her at the start of her XL breast expansion in the near future! Animation wise, there's a few things I'm thinking on that I'm aiming for, probably shorter loops that I can mix into the workflow, I think those could be fun!

So I think that's about it for tonight. As always, thanks so much for your support, things are just getting better and better workwise, and I think our poll-fueled project with Sadie will be pretty exciting. So stay tuned and keep an eye out in the next few days as we get started on that!

U have the most realist skin I've seen by any of Ur the other competition

Its what makes the dolls so believable. Loving the skintest of Hitome btw.

balloondolls

Thanks you two! It's the culmination of quite a lot of time in testing, and well not really a culmination, since there's still room to improve :)

the microdisplacment from the bumps and normals looks much more "uncanny valley" now, did you combine it with fallof maps or something like that in the past? either way great skin maestro, the way it reacts to your lighting/hdrilooks great!

There's a falloff element in there somewhere :) also yes I took a bit of a procedural approach to get the very small bumps to come through, actually the only way to go about it since regular displacement and bump maps have a finite cap on resolution

Dirk Gently

Big, bigger, and biggerest. Keep 'em growing. Love it.

Breast fill up animation of Denise is a great idea !
