Creepy dagger, forged from pretty worthless kinds of iron-like metal, found mostly around Karsan city (thus called "karsan steel"). Such daggers are crafted from those chunks of ore that are crooked by nature - and are literally stretched from that chunk into a blade.  

Purpose of this dagger is grim, yet noble - it is a blade of redemption. Those who ended up dishonored by own actions and ways are pursued by living ones, but it takes quite a lot to end up being chased by a Herald of Ash. They have all the rights to execute sinner on sight and their judgement is absolute across whole Agan - and their hand brings never ending mark of shame on name of one who fell by that hand. 

Yet, there is a way to part with life to cleanse own name. 

All Heralds of Ash (and not only them) have these blades at hand - and one is given to penitent sinner. 

Blade is clenched in teeth as condemned rests on knees with head perched to the sky, holding this dagger - and razor-sharp hooked blade sinks into one's throat, shredding it inside hopelessly. It is a gory picture, nasty, bloody - yet sin is no more. And dagger remains buried into one's throat as corpse remains on it's knees, as if praying to the sky... 

...and twelve different embalming concoctions, soaking through the grim weapon, will do their trick in literally day or two - and instead of decaying cadaver there will be only a dried shape of a skeleton, petrified in prayer pose.
