I love history/war movies, World War 1 western trenches were definitely one of the most brutal wars in history, it was really well shown in this movie how bad it was there, in reality it was even worse. Epic History channel have amazing series explaining whole conflict "1914-1918" if you want to check out, there are also many other great war movies Saving Private Ryan, Hacksaw Ridge, Enemy at the Gates and many more, really powerful and sad movies, but worth watching, really really enjoyed this one, thanks for upload. As a huge Bleach enjoyer please watch Bleach in sub.

Some History clarification, Events are true, characters are not but it still was really realistic movie, Tanks were used first time in World War 1 and they mostly failed as first prototypes were slow and vulnerable to artillery, people were shocked when they saw them for the first time, that's why they shoot at them, they didn't knew what is it. Trench warfare was brutal, both side in trenches between no man's land barbered wire, one sided started artillery barrage for long hours then soldiers rushed at enemy trench waiting with machine-guns thousand's die in minutes until they take the trench or retreat, repeat. Treaty of Versailles was devastating for Germany as many of people from both sides said, it will lead to world war 2, and it was true just 20 years after "war to end all wars" we got even more devastating one.
