Promoting it a bit more may have helped slightly but the film probably wouldn't have done well at the box office. Across the board it was a down year for the film industry and even instant money makers like Mission Impossible barely broke even. Maybe the down year was due to the strike and bad economy but there's also a lot of red flags with the industry at the moment.

Didn't Barbie Oppenheimer Mario and Guardians do pretty good I feel like there were noticeable flops but thought it was a decent year for movies and theaters but I also don't really got to the movies so I also am no expert on the matter

“Ánimo” is how we say “cheer up” or “dont stress” or “have hope” which was the dads whole personality. And “Cabezon” means Big Head, which is hilarious because George Lopez was always called Big Head in his show and now he’s calling Jaime Cabezon lmao

Its kinda crazy how Miguels actor said this was like his first time heavily using a stunt double, alot of the movements that his character did weren't as hard as the ones he does in later seasons of cobra kai and he doesnt really use a stunt double in that show, I guess movie companies dont want to risk actors getting hurt and the money loss would be more than a netflix show

Yeah I think the studio knows that aswell and its why they still have plans for more movies, xolo is too good of an actor and blue beetle is too good of a character to throw away because of a movie not performing amazingly

you definitely know guillermo surj. he was the map maker in the magicians. he is EVERYWHERE, so chances are everyone has seen him at least once. he also does a lot of voice work including in harley quinn. he is dc'ed up!

glad you guys enjoyed it. i just couldnt connect with the film or characters. watching it a second time with you guys vs by myself put things in perspective: this isnt my sense of humor. i didnt take the things you were laughing at as jokes. like the sister is a dude bro so her saying broish things isnt funny to me. its just a depiction of her personality. same with lopez just saying random absurd things. they arent funny or shocking, its just who he is. i never connected emotionally to the family so couldnt enjoy the family moments. they were just loud and annoying. this is the only role i've seen xolo do outside of cobra kai and i dont know if its bad casting or if he's just one note. in cobra kai he made me fall in love with the character of miguel. i cried, i laughed, i root for him. none of that charm was there for me. aquaman is more my type of film. its fun, funny and exciting. even though i think its too long i still would just sit through it and enjoy every moment.

we are so different lol. i enjoyed the flash quite a bit. not a bad film or bad cgi. TOO MUCH CGI, but not bad. its in my top films of 2023. its not the movie i wanted/expected but it was well done and a good story. i like character focused stories, ones that focus on who the person is and why they do what they do. that movie is ALL character with very little action. super fun and funny and ezra's barry allen is so likeable and adorkable.

I watched this first time along with your un-cut reaction. First time I've ever done that, interesting, and it really wasn't bad at all, solid 6 even 7/10, kinda a shame it didn't do well, it was cool seeing BB live action

Barbie and Oppenheimer had one of the best ad campaigns I've seen in a long time. Not only did memes play a part but both properties made people watch both movies at the theater; which was a thing when I was a kid with the double feature concept but rarely something that's accomplished anymore. This year, the global box office for films was around 33 billion which is up from previous COVID years but still middling especially when big budget films need at least 300-500 million to break even. It's pretty glaring how bad the film industry suffered in comparison to the video game industry this year; which had arguably the best year in gaming since 1998.

nothing in life is objective, least of all art. you say the mcu makes objectively good movies and i struggle to name one that i think of as more than "Just ok". people say george clooney is extremely good looking when i dont think he's good looking at all yet alone EXTREMELY. everything in life is up to the observer and their perspective, that is what forms their individual reality. its that individual mind (free will) that dictates what is good, bad, pretty or ugly to said observer. terms like good and bad are all opinion words, not facts like maths. take the mona lisa. you can say its "objectively a beautiful piece of art" and thats not true as there are tons of people who would object to that opinion. just because the majority says something is x doesnt make it true, just makes it the consensus. i liked the film cause it presented things to me that i like and in a way that i found engaging. so to me, yes it is a great film, super hero or no. i had a good time all three times i saw it. that is my opinion as i can only see the world through the eyes i have: mine.
