1. Play on the easiest difficulty 2. Start your sessions by doing one quest/objective per session 3. Loot food from barrels by sending it to Camp. This will help with rest and recovery of your party and inventory management. 3. Shoving/Throwing enemies off ledges is very effective on a lot of stuff. 4. Turn off the "Karmic Dice" setting 5. I would also suggest playing with keyboard/mouse but that's a losing battle isn't it? I would say the controls were off-putting at first but I just mentally viewed it as a The Sims game with turn-based combat and the game had its hooks in me by then. I went with Punch Monk on my playthrough and had a blast with the kit. Hope this helps.

Agree with the comment above. Baby-ass baby mode and just have fun seeing what you can do with stuff. Try and find ways to break the combat so much it’s literally a free win every time.

You don’t “get over it”. Either you like a game or not. Don’t force it if it ain’t your jam. Armored Core 6 is amazing go play that I haven’t heard you even mention giving it a try. Kingdoms of Amalur is a unicorn they still haven’t made another game like it. I’ll probably fire up the remake and keep playing again at some point.
